  1. This is for next year. I would hope the Crown would be fixed by then. My guess is that they have increased demand for Alaska sailings and they are putting larger ships there.
  2. My guess is more individuals want to do British Isles as that is as far away as possible in Europe from Russia/Ukraine. Thus, larger capacity ship.
  3. I believe Mendenhall went out to the highway! Scary though how much it has retreated. I probably saw Dawes Glacier from a cruise ship 15 years ago and we got pretty close. Most people didn't hear that we went there instead of Tracy Arm and people were raving about Tracy Arm all day. This was in July. I also was on AdventureBound Alaska one year, many years ago and Tracy Arm was iced out so he took us to Dawes Glacier and it was pretty cool that day. But Capt Steve always makes trip memorable by stopping for bears and he took us to Fords Terror and he timed it right so we could see it fully. This was in May. Glad I saw them when I did. I know they are not the same now.
  4. My guess it deals with staffing issues. Not enough employees able to get visas to work, or previous employees have left industry.
  5. You are right, I think of the interior and views the same way though. It is a great aft bar/viewing area!
  6. There is a great aft lounge called Skywalkers. It looks like a shopping cart handle if you look at the ship. It is on Deck 17. I do remember being able to go outside under the Bridge and be outside and it is a great view. No outdoor bar there and it can be windy when sailing. There is nothing equivalent to HAL's Crow's Next. The Sapphire is a great ship though!
  7. I agree this is a poor itinerary for glacier viewing. And Mendenhall is disappointing unless you actually land on the glacier - and this costs $$$$. Visiting the front of the glacier is disappointing.
  8. This sounds amazing. One day I will get to that area! Glad you had a wonderful time!
  9. I stopped liking Caribbean cruises after going to Alaska. Alaska is all about scenery.
  10. Princess will not price match.
  11. I literally am surprised. In the past, they were not open on weekends.
  12. The Crown has never had an indoor pool. If Princess pools have heaters, they haven't used them when I have been in them.
  13. I doubt Customer Relations is available on Saturday.
  14. Some seasoned travelers care a lot about the ports. The ship is just the transport from one port to another. I personally could care less about the ship experience and almost always cruise for the ports. December was the exception for me. I needed a break from COVID issues. Though I do feel sorry for those who have never been to Alaska and this will be their one and only trip.
  15. They are provided on deck for everyone.
  16. I was able to do this online. Up until recently - our state did not have a Global Entry interview site which would have made it difficult to visit in person.
  17. I would never pay for Sanctuary for an Alaskan cruise. There are other places with better views for free.
  18. I was booked earlier this year and cancelled due to illness. Most were Europeans on roll calls. I think with the port intensive cruises, it makes it more difficult. Internet was reported as being poor also.
  19. Interesting. Their website says: CLOSURE NOTICE The Voyager Inn has been contracted for private use, please reach out to reservations@captaincook.com with any questions The hotel is managed by Captain Cook. The reviews are pretty good at the hotel. The location is great for restaurants to deliver.
  20. Princess did get to keep the money. It is insurance that pays out.
