Delayed Boarding for Empress today

Royal has delayed boarding today for the Empress. My friend just called and they are still waiting inside the terminal with reports of electrical failure and A/C issues. Royal has provided a shuttle for guests wanting to go down to Bayside to hang out. Could be a long delay!

Hope they get it fixed soon. Keep us posted if you hear any updates.

Between this and Merion Mom's post, it seems they were being fairly proactive.

They were given notice days in advance for this delay and also receiving $20 per person on board credit.

They are working to fix the A/C in the Casino.

$20 is kinda bush league, but that is a good explanation.

They have pushed the boarding back 2 more hours, so I could see the OBC going up. My friends just took the free shuttle over to the beach, provided by RCCL.

They have pushed the boarding back 2 more hours, so I could see the OBC going up. My friends just took the free shuttle over to the beach, provided by RCCL.

Be happy for $20. We were delayed boarding in Istanbul a few years ago for over 5 hours and nothing !! Bottled water, chips, and a guitar player was all we got. Plus did not get into rooms til after 6pm. You at least have a/c and a nice area to wait.

They sent an email on Tuesday, saying it was a "scheduled" maintenance. No one told us about the scheduled maintenance when we booked it less than a month ago. 4:10 pm........Just announced that boarding will begin shortly. Several police just entered the terminal to assist. Gonna be fun.

Why on earth did RCL take Empress back... Hopefully they will get rid of her as fast as they decided to Integrate her into heir fleet

Is there a suite/pinnacle waiting area in the terminal?

Lack of A/C has also been an issue outside the casino in recent cruises. Only negative on our 7/23 cruise was the lack of it in our cabin. Hopefully it will be better on future cruises now after this delay for maintenance.
