Replacement fee for lost sea pass?

I just read a review where someone mentioned that there was a $10 fee for replacing a lost Sea Pass.

Has anyone else experienced this?

I've had to replace a lost Sea Pass several times (once it blew out of my mom's hand and into the water when she was walking up the ramp to get onto the ship) and was never charged a fee on RCI or the other cruiselines we've sailed on.

Is this a new policy for RCI?

I've never lost one but in June I had one get demagnetized and they replaced it for no charge. I would be surprised if they started charging people for a lost Sea Pass.

Some people just have really magnetic personalities. :D

Actually, it happened to DW's card 3 times last month. (which was a little annoying to say the least).

It was fixed each time promptly, but still a hassle.

I wasn't charged last year after I had left my card in a slot machine when I left the casino. I asked at the casino cashier if anyone had turned in my card or if they could tell me which machine still had my card in it. They told me just to go up to guest services and get a new card.

I saw that review too. I think it was one of the recent Freedom reviews. Although we've never lost our cards, we have had a couple demagnetize. They just replaced them at guest services for free. No biggie. I have never, ever heard of a charge.

I remember having no charge to get a replacement. I mean really, imagine if someone didn't want to/couldn't pay that would mean they also couldn't come back on the ship after a port or even get into their room. They would also lose out on revenue for the gift shops, restaurants, etc.

Each of my 3 kids had to have their Sea Pass cards replaced 2 times while on the Allure in April. The sunblock on their fingers rubbed off all of the writing. It was no problem and didn't cost anything. The staff at Guest Services said it happens all the time.

I have placed my seapass card in the same pocket as my cellphone and it demagnitizes it every time I do it.. It is irritating but the guest relations folks are great and have always just given me a new card.:)

A cell phone will demagnetize a sea pass as well as a hotel key card. Keep them out of the same pocket (voice of experience) :(.

I don't think that someone else is supposed to be able to charge with it, but my husband had it happen on Brilliance. He had given his card to the bartender in the Schooner Bar so we could get balls for the pool table. I'm not sure if you still have to let the bartender hold your card while you play pool or not. Anyway, the bartender left my husband's card on the bar and sure enough, someone took it and used it. We were able to get a new card and got most of the fraudulent charges removed. It was a real hassle because the customer relations person wouldn't believe that someone else had taken and used the card. She kept saying that the bartender is supposed to put the card under the bar so there is no way that someone could have taken it. Wrong! Then she insisted that even if someone did take it, the staff is supposed to compare the photo that pops up on the screen with the person using the card so no one could have used it. Wrong again! We insisted on seeing the actual signed receipts and it was obvious what my husband signed and what the imposter signed. We got everything but a $10 beer charge removed. They kept saying it would be removed but it never was. I got tired of going to customer service so finally gave up. The person who used the card was a VERY GENEROUS tipper so I'm not sure what happened to the extra tips for the bartenders or waiters when we had the charges removed.

I was the one on the other post that said it. When I was on the Freedom and in line at customer service one night, the kid in front of me stated he lost his card and needed a new one. The lady at the desk stated that it cost $10 to get it replaced. Whether she did that to SCARE the kid , I am not sure.

Not saying this is what happend, but sometimes "kids" that are not 21 yet try to get a replacement card and hope the rep doesn't punch a hole in it so they can be served liquor. Could be why the customer service person said that?

I blame those darn magnetic clasps that most ladies' purses have, these days! I've had to make a couple of those embarrassing trips to guest relations, too! :o

That magnetic clasp rumor is B.S.

How come when Mrs E. goes shopping she can pull out the Visa or Discover card and it never...Ouch, Stop, Mercy, :o

O.K. Mrs E. I'm sorry.

Tomorrow we will have to go shoe shopping, and I have been informed we will be using my credit cards because her's now mysteriously don't work.
