DJG18 Posted August 12, 2011 #128 Share Posted August 12, 2011 Another follower thanking you for the photos, especially as we'll be on the EnOS in 2 weeks, and in a cabin similar to yours. WiFi hotspot question - battery on my laptop can't hold much of a charge anymore, so will need to plug it in to use it. Are there electrical sockets around the wifi hotspots? Tony O Posted August 12, 2011 #130 Share Posted August 12, 2011 Interesting about the behind the scenes tour. On our July 28th sailing the Captain mentioned during his Ask the Captain program that they just started to offer the same tour during our cruise, of course he did not mention the price. pjlee3333 Posted August 12, 2011 #135 Share Posted August 12, 2011 pjlee3333...thanx for the update! Maybe, just maybe, we'll get to cruise with Capt. Rob again! We've missed him on our last few trips. Is he still working Enchantment? We'll be very happy to see John and Katrina again!:D Unfortunately Captian Rob did one rotation on Enchantment from November to January then was transferred to Freedom of the Seas. The other captain now on Enchantment is Captain Gus Anderson. Has something of a simalar personality to Captain Rob and gives his words of wisdom everyday during the noon announcements. John and Katrina came back on July 9 so with 4 months on they should be on through sometime in early November. The last cruse director they've had working during their break was Carly Boileau. Also very personable but she's not sure she'll be back during their break this time. We loved the Grandeur out of Baltimore (to the tune of 18 cruises on it) and have taken Enchantment 7 times, including Radio's November cruise last year. Unfortunately we didn't have the opportunity to meet him. Captian Rob got on Enchantment at the end of that cruise - happend to see him as we were waiting to get off - my mom had special assist off because of some back surgery and they taken us down to deck 1 and then said the ship hadn't been cleared for those with luggage. While we were waiting to get off we saw him signing onto the ship..
smeck Posted August 12, 2011 #136 Share Posted August 12, 2011 Enjoying your review as usual. I noticed your cruising on the Explorer late fall. Looking forward to your cruise since we'll be cruising her in April Bermuda/Caribbean.
Puffinater Posted August 12, 2011 #137 Share Posted August 12, 2011 I spoke to the delightful Wendy Kirby (Loyalty Manager), and she suggested that as a special for D+ Members that RCI would be offering a 2 for 1 Dinner at Chops for the whole Cruise (not just the first night as suggested in the D+ Coupon book)I am sure I will take advantage of this offer next week. Is this just for your cruise or is it something RCI is looking at fleet wide? Thanks.
Rare Radio Posted August 12, 2011 Author #138 Share Posted August 12, 2011 Is this just for your cruise or is it something RCI is looking at fleet wide? Thanks. It was suggested to me that it was for this ship. . .and this sailing only. . . Ooops. . . I shouldn't be using my iPad at Dinner. . . .:o More later. . . Is it in the balcony? thanks! this is a small area on the first floor all the way in the back...it is not a bad area...they will open it up for anyone to sit in 5min prior to the show-it never filled up prior to them opening it to all when I was there in March or the cruise before
cruzette Posted August 12, 2011 #144 Share Posted August 12, 2011 Hi Radio...I'm new to your "live" postings. I waved as you sailed down the Chesapeake last evening around 6:30pm (I live on the Western side of the Bay Bridge...11 miles by water after you go under the bridge). The Enchantment sparkled in the late afternoon sunlight...and try as I may, it just wouldn't stop and pick us up!! :( We took the NE/Canada trip on the Grandeur a few years ago and loved it!! Our favorite spot was Peggy's Cove in Halifax...absolutely breath-taking!! Enjoy your trip...I look forward to hearing more about your adventures! Thanks for keeping us posted...and keeping me green w/envy until I cruise again in Nov.;)

B'moreTraveler Posted August 12, 2011 #146 Share Posted August 12, 2011 Thank you, radio, for your Live post! This is an excellent preview as I will be cruising the same itinerary on the Enchantment on September 8th. This will be just my second cruise and first on RCI. I love hearing about the perks that you get as a D+ member... and I look forward to being there myself some day. Your photos are superb, I hope mine turn out half as good. Keep them coming! Thanks, also, to jamscckmc who mentioned your live post on our roll call. I might never have found it otherwise. I pray that we get nice weather for our sail away too. Enjoy your cruise, and thanks again for sharing your experiences with us. Marty

not2old Posted August 13, 2011 #148 Share Posted August 13, 2011 Hi Radio, a quick question... What is the average age of your passengers-just an estimate-? When we were on her last Oct, we were part of the "younger" crowd, we're in our 60's lol! Never saw so many oxygen tanks, walkers and scooters in one place just wondering what it's like for your cruise? Thanks again for the wonderful review!! Rare Radio Posted August 13, 2011 Author #150 Share Posted August 13, 2011 Hello everyone. . . We had a great dinner in the MDR tonight, and I forgot to mention that we have MTD for 5:30 (or later if I can’t make it there by then). Tonight was Formal night, and I would say about 10% of the males were in tuxes. . . There were about 50% who were in Suits or Sport coats. I was one of the 30% who wore a dress shirt and tie. The other 10 % wore just about anything they wanted. . . I will leave my comments at the door. OK, great! Lets move on to a different subject. I was able to take a short nap this afternoon around 3. . .so I may be able to stay up a little late tonight. I have to mention that the coffee in the CL is so very good and while I was enjoying a cup during my last post, it had me wired ! NOTE TO RADIO <<<< back off of the Coffee a little, OK? After Dinner, my Brother wanted to go to Casino Royale, and well I didn’t want him to go alone you know, so I . . . well you know the rest. I will try to watch some of the Headliner Show tonight at 10:15PM. Our CD highly suggested that we should not miss this show. The Headliner is Bobby Arvon, he is the voice from the theme of “Happy Days“ in the 70‘s. Katrina (Asst CD) says he is a world of energy ! Tomorrow we will arrive in Portland, Maine at 10 AM, and I have been told to set up my tripod on the Balcony to see several Lighthouses during our Navigation into the port area. We will be there until 7PM, so I should have plenty of time to explore the city. I am looking forward to having lunch/dinner at a great Lobster place that is just 2 blocks from the Passenger Terminal in Portland. Here are a few pics from this afternoon. . . Tomorrow is our 1st Port ! Thanks for tuning in. . . Radio Formal Night in My Fair Lady Main Dining Room I seem to have an affinity for random shots like these. . . An hour or 2 before sundown. . .Deck 5 The Deck “Portholes” on Deck 9. . .You can look straight down. . . "My" Sushi Chef in Windjammer Marketplace I love the model of Jewel of the Seas. . .One of my Favorite ships .
