Lots of talk that the reflection is boring. Is it?

There have been lots of talk that celebrity Reflection is boring, I am now worried I pick the wrong cruise.

lots of reviews that they have the same shows repeated in a week.. The comedy show is the same one all week long. why would that be? even Carnival as 4 different shows on a 7 day cruise.

I was also told there is no night life at all after 11.. I think people of all ages like to have something to do at night. does celebrity have a suggest box or a person to email and ask what on earth is going on...

Let me know what you think.. Anyone that knows how to get in touch with celebrity about this let me know I think it time to ask them to step up there game.

Thanks for your time

hello Joy------ not to flame you at all---- but if you go into this cruise with this much negativeness and doubt maybe you should consider a different cruise.

I can't imagine it being boring though......wish you a great cruise:)

Not sure where you are seeing this, but remember that people seldom write positive reviews, preferring to vent on sites like this one.

I've never known Celebrity to repeat the same shows on a cruise. The comedian might do two different nights, one in the main theater and one at a "late night adults only" comedy venue, but that's about it as far as repetition goes.

That being said, Reflection isn't my favorite ship, but having nothing to do with it being "boring" but more with the design of the ship.

Thanks for your comment tteettimes, The reason I look on the boards is to help with cruise information, I have been on celebrity many times but recently there have been so many comments about this boat I felt I need to ask why... I would still like to go, but would like celebrity to rethink what that are doing if the post are correct.

Only a boring person would find Reflection boring. I've met some really interesting people on all Celebrity ships, including Reflection. There are wonderful places to meet and share good times. The show that repeats is a late night adult comedy show. Other shows don't repeat other than early and late shows. No belly flop contests on Celebrity, but plenty to do. The age of the crowd might determine how late people stay up. The shorter the cruise, the later the crowd. My guess is that if Carnival is your cup of tea, you might not enjoy Celebrity. Remember, different lines cater to different demographics.

I was typing as others were posting so let me just add: There are many positive features on Reflection. You have more specialty dining choices on Reflection and Silhouette. Although the Sky Lounge is smaller, it feels more like a club bar.

I hope this is a prank posting??? Joy, if you are serious, you obviously are not familiar with celebrity and this may not be the best cruiseline choice for you. Celebrity is known to be a more sedate, quiet experience that admittedly does not have the same night life as a Carnival, NCL or Royal Caribbean. It is true that most things really quiet down after midnight. There is a lounge with a bar and music that goes until 2 AM or so, but truthfully, not much attendance. This is true of all of Celebrity not just Reflection.

As far as the shows, no shows are repeated on any cruise. You may experience the same entertainer more than once but the show is different each time. On some of the ships, the first night's entertainment is sometimes a mixed show with all the entertainers for that cruise performing a short piece from their act to give you a taste of it; the Celebrity Troupe does do several shows--they are a musical/dance troupe but again each show is completely different.

In all honesty though, you sound like a person who likes action and late night activities which is great but honestly you probably would not be happy on any Celebrity ship.

I'm just being truthful. Try Royal Caribbean or Carnival. They cater to a more active crowd.

Good luck

Hi Leesie6351, Thanks for your comment.

This is no prank... I have been on many lines and celebrity many times and love it.

the last few review I have read did not sound like the last few cruises I have gone on so I had to ask.. that what the boards are for...

I read 4 in the last month that said they have repeated the comedy show.

and the entertainment had not been good. So I had to ask if something had change

Celebrity is known for its laid back and relaxing vibe. People who cruise on their ships do so because they like the product. In all likelihood it's easier for you to change your line, thus ensuring you get the vibrant nightlife you prefer, than it would be for you to write Celebrity and ask them to change for you. It's simply not going to happen. Have you looked at Royal Caribbean sailings? When we cruise with our children--now in their 20s--that's the line they want to go on because it's fun and action-packed. They love it. When it's only my husband and me, Celebrity is the way we go. We're in bed and asleep by midnight. :D

I was on Silhouette in April and there was a new show called "Sin City" held in Celebrity Central.

It is a later show and they continually let folks know it is "ADULT ONLY" and

I don't know if the same show is on Reflection or not.

Now, that particular show? It is Adult Comedy and I remember it being

3 times during the cruise....(it may have been more but I remember seeing

it in the daily 3 different days)...anyway, that show? I do believe they

did the same stuff.....not everyone goes every night so I can see why

the material might be the same.

Personally, I thought it was VERY FUNNY:D.....one of those shows where

the Comedian was very good and it related to daily life and you could laugh till it hurt;)

This show was actually later than usual.....I think it started about 11-

11:30.....

As fo the rest of things? Some folks say boring.....I say laid back

and relaxed:)

If you are familiar with the nightlife on other Celebrity ships, you will be familiar with how things are on Reflection. It is no different than the other ships in the fleet. The shows may be different, but the overall atmosphere is similar. There is no reason to fear that the nightlife on Reflection is significantly different than other Celebrity ships.

We sailed on the Reflection for her last Caribbean sailing prior to her TA. We had a blast! We didn't go to many shows, but instead ate at the Lawn Club Grill, a show in itself, and met so many great people that we spent time with at the Martini, Molecular and Sunset bar, and of course we danced until the wee hours of the morning! Now many guests on this sailing had booked with the 123 promo, so the alcohol was free flowing, but I did NOT see any ridiculous behavior. I think that promo attracted a more 'nightlife' type of passenger. There was more than enough fun to be had, and we loved the ship. The only negative was that it was so big (NEVER felt crowded) that we felt like we walked and walked and walked.....maybe that helped with the calorie burning after all of those great meals!

To address the OP's question. The comedy repeats because its held in a small venue (Celebrity Central), so the show repeats to discourage people from going multiple times and thereby give more people the opportunity to see it.

Despite announcements that the show is going to be the same show repeated, there's always those few that go again, take up a seat, and then walk out five minutes into the show when they realize its the same show they've already seen. Then they write a negative review complaining.

OP, if you've been on Celebrity many times, the entertainment options and nightlife on Reflection is no different from any other Celebrity ship.

Celebrity is not Carnival (thank goodness) and one should not expect things to run the same way such as the comedy show.

We found plenty to do the Reflection but I no longer stay out until one in the morning. I'm surprised at your questions if you have cruised with Celebrity before.

It all depends on the traveling companion or what you need to be entertained or to enjoy yourself.

Many people are content to lay around the pool.

Others to sit on the balcony and read.

How many people today keep occupied the whole day on the Internet or texting.

Sunshine, pizza, beer, a cool breeze, a deck of cards, or something to read with a comfortable chair is all I need. I guess that is why I only sail in the winter time. I can have all of that at home in the summer time and a lot cheaper.

Lois, Sin City is on Reflection. We loved it! Very funny, and yes, it's an "Adults Only" show. Great addition to evening entertainment.

Cruisestich, I agree with you. Most Celebrity reviews usually point out the negative, and if you do post a positive review, there will be some responses that will label you a "Celebrity cheerleader". Go figure.

We've been cruising with Celebrity since 1999, and have enjoyed every cruise. Some were better than others, but all in all, this cruiseline fits our lifestyle and what we want in a crusing vacation.

Keep an open mind, and I maybe you'll be pleasantly surprised.

I've noticed a big difference in late night activity between cruises in the Caribbean and those in Europe. Europe itineraries are usually port intensive with early starts to the day and tours that require lots of energy. People seem to be headingnbackmtomtheirbcabinsnon hevearlybsidebto rest up for the net day. Caribbean cruises have much more of a party vibe. We love both.

Try 10 PM.

Sin City is a comedy show and it is really well attended. Pretty good. You must get there early. The party band on Reflection is terrific, one of the best.

If you want an active crowd, then I suggest RCL. Lots of energy on those ships.

I recall hundreds of people participating in line dancing. Not so on Celebrity.

Hi, there is a usually a show going on at 10 and the Martini Bar is normally

still busy and for those of us who eat late? I have been in the dining

room till 10:30 before.....the casino is also open.....oh and on S class...

I have been in the Molecular Bar till at least midnight......:)

So, I have to respectfully disagree with your 10pm comment.

Our experience with X is that much depends on the length of cruise and itinerary. If doing a 7 day Caribbean cruise, there will be more of a late night crowd (and possibly some entertainment). But go on a longer Med cruise and you might find that there are very few souls awake after 11.

We were on the Millennium late May for an Alaska cruise that was rather port intensive with early mornings, but every evening there were several lounge shows/activities that continued past midnight. I was pleasantly surprised because so many postings had implied that the ship went to sleep early. Although I was not up until 2 or 3, there was plenty of activity quite late.

Don't know why some of the responses seemed to "flame" the OP. I thought it was a fair question, especially since I just read that review(s) I believe the OP was referring to and wondered about the quality of the shows myself.

I truly don't believe ANY cruise can be BORING. I think whoever posted that review didn't really want to go on a cruise and had a lot of negative energy. I have always found something to do. We cruise HAL a lot and they are a typical "older" crowd and have ALWAYS had a blast. We do not care for Carnival at all and want to avoid that type of atmosphere. NCL and RCCL are fine, but we wanted something a bit nicer and wanted to try a different cruise line.

I do appreciate the reponses that were helpful. So the late night adult only show does repeat - but the explanation for that seems fair and so duly noted to go only once during the week.

I'd appreciate comments about any other shows. I usually like to go to 1 or 2 during the week. How are they on Reflection?

I also suspected that since the lastest negative reviews were from the Mediterrean itinerary, that the Carribean itinerary (the one we are going on), would be a bit different in terms of atmosphere and entertainment.

So I'm clear - there is a lounge with music and dancing on Reflection? If so, what is the name.

I can't wait to experience the Molecular bar and the Martini bar!

Thanks!

Kind of wish it was still a sedate, quiet elegant experience but all the rap music & awful DJ selections, techno over the PA syatem and banging drums in the atrium on our last Silho cruise really turned us off...

Celeb is trying to appeal to a wider group but has not done a very good job in finding a new niche!!!

This post is interesting to me. A few years ago, we were on a cruise with a friend who said she found it boring. I loved every minute of it, was busy on the sea days and the time flew! I think some people will be bored wherever they find themselves--perhaps they carry boredom on board--:)
