As a Scotsman that is a US citizen I know the type of pants you are speaking of. However, it is Princess guidelines that no shorts for dinner.

OK on the polo and no to the shorts no matter how long they are.

On the 12/07/2013 CB cruise there was a man age 60's-70's in shorts, white socks, and sneakers at anytime dinner, pointed it out to DW. She was worried if she was dressed up enough :).

If men need to wear shorts at dinner ,they can dine at the Horizion Court.

Besides,what is the difference for men to put on a pair of shorts or a pair of slacks?Both garments include a button and a zipper.

it wasn't a 9 day cruise, it was b2b 4 & 5, DR dress rules are lowered on the short cruises.
