Dismomx5 Posted February 17, 2014 #1 Share Posted February 17, 2014 I was just wondering what kind of shampoo, conditioner and soaps are used on HAL ships. And are they refreshed as the week goes on? Thank you!
Rare kazu Posted February 17, 2014 #2 Share Posted February 17, 2014 I was just wondering what kind of shampoo, conditioner and soaps are used on HAL ships. Shmoo here Posted February 17, 2014 #3 Share Posted February 17, 2014 I was just wondering what kind of shampoo, conditioner and soaps are used on HAL ships. And are they refreshed as the week goes on? Thank you! In the shower the soap, shampoo and conditioner are in wall dispensers: Also a small bottle of lotion, and a small hand soap, and shower cap: We really didn't need anything replenished, as we find these products drying (both to skin and hair), so we bring our own. SilvertoGold Posted February 17, 2014 #4 Share Posted February 17, 2014 Sometimes on some ships you have to ask for replenishment. Don't hesitate to ask if you need more of anything! HAL excels at service, they just need a hint sometimes.
ellieanne Posted February 17, 2014 #5 Share Posted February 17, 2014 I had an allergic reaction to the bath gel, and when I asked for the bar soap, my room steward replaced the bar every other day until I told him I had more than enough soap to last the rest of the 15 day cruise. cruz chic Posted February 17, 2014 #6 Share Posted February 17, 2014 I have color treated hair and it does not work for me. If you are fussy I'd bring my own.
Krazy Kruizers Posted February 17, 2014 #7 Share Posted February 17, 2014 We can't use the Elemis products either. So we also bring our own soap and shampoo and conditioner.
Irish Eyes Are Sailing Posted February 17, 2014 #8 Share Posted February 17, 2014 I really liked their products, but I must be in the minority. I really liked the body lotion and the bath gel.
bshow Posted February 17, 2014 #9 Share Posted February 17, 2014 The bath gel is peppermint-y. Kinda cool. It's one of those smells I associate with being on a cruise (that might be a topic of its own...)

Thank you for the picture. That helps a lot. I'm sure it will do my husband and I fine. Here's hoping that there is no allergic reaction. :) The bath gel is peppermint-y. Kinda cool. It's one of those smells I associate with being on a cruise (that might be a topic of its own...) I'm still using (very sparingly) the H2O stuff from my Disney cruise last year. Every time I DO use it....I am back in the Rainforest room. sigh.
Sue from Canada Posted February 19, 2014 #11 Share Posted February 19, 2014 (edited) I have color treated hair and it does not work for me. If you are fussy I'd bring my own. I also don't like the shampoo/conditioner for colour treated hair. But I do loooove the shower gel. slabeaume Posted February 19, 2014 #12 Share Posted February 19, 2014 I'm in the minority that loves Elemis. I love the minty smell and have no bad reaction to it.
Cruiz'nBaers Posted February 19, 2014 #13 Share Posted February 19, 2014 Our previous cruise (2013) I decided to not pack my shampoo and conditioner and thought that HAL's products would be just fine. Worked for DH but not for me. On our most recent cruise 2014) I packed my own products and DH used HAL's. I thought the Elemis shampoo and hair conditioner made my hair feel dry. Rare POA1 Posted February 19, 2014 #14 Share Posted February 19, 2014 If you normally use a "clarifying" shampoo - one without added conditioning agents - you should be fine. They also have conditioner for you, so you can use that as needed. If you have dry hair or are particular about your hair products, I'd recommend packing your own or buying it before you board. Chances are that your hair will see more sun and possibly more chlorine from the pool than it does at home.

Hubbie will use anything, including the shampoo! I love the bath gel. If HAL would just do a deal with Crabtree and Evelyn...
Krazy Kruizers Posted February 19, 2014 #16 Share Posted February 19, 2014 DH takes many medications and when he used the shampoo, he broke out in a rash. The soap dries out my hands and their lotion does nothing to help them.
QueenGlassHalfFull Posted February 19, 2014 #17 Share Posted February 19, 2014 Both my husband and I do like using the Elemis products and have not had any adverse reactions. I have color-treated hair and have not had problems. Bring small bottles of your own products just in case but do give the Elemis products a try. I agree with the poster who said that she likes the bath gel - it's very invigorating in the morning.
