2littleprincesses Posted April 4, 2014 #1 Share Posted April 4, 2014 Just wondering. There are connecting promenade rooms or not connecting but close by inside rooms. The promenade rooms are $500 more. Is that worth it?
Ourusualbeach Posted April 4, 2014 #2 Share Posted April 4, 2014 Personally I would not pay $500 more for a promenade. If it was $500 for a balcony then maybe but realistically how much will you sit and watch the view of the promenade. Use the $500 for a great excursion, drinks package or some dinners at a specialty restaurant.
dacsmom Posted April 4, 2014 #3 Share Posted April 4, 2014 Promenade rooms do not interest me at all. As you are people watching, so are they. You have to keep your curtains closed anyway so to me it is really no different than an inside room
OCruisers Posted April 4, 2014 #4 Share Posted April 4, 2014 We'd pay the $500 more for a promenade! :) Would not book a hotel room without a window and would not wish to have a cabin on a ship without one either. LuLu ~~~
SamFritz Posted April 4, 2014 #5 Share Posted April 4, 2014 I am interested in staying in a Promenade room. I'm looking at it from the other side though. I love a view of the ocean and have think about how much I can save by going for the people/parade watching vs the balcony or sea view. Rare LMaxwell Posted April 4, 2014 #6 Share Posted April 4, 2014 I would take them for the same price as an inside up to $50-100 more, depending on cruise length. Sent from my cm_tenderloin using Tapatalk
ehfl Posted April 4, 2014 #7 Share Posted April 4, 2014 We generally don't pay more than $100 per night, even for a balcony. We usually pick inside rooms, but will get a balcony if the price is right. Oceanview or Promenade rooms don't offer much appeal. We'll take them when we get a free upgrade but don't really like to pay extra for them.
abridalmaven Posted April 4, 2014 #8 Share Posted April 4, 2014 We have done promenade rooms a few times and never paid that much more for one.at most I think it may have been $100 more for both of us. But I could never stay in a room without a window anyhow. I love them.
Lady Hudson Posted April 4, 2014 #9 Share Posted April 4, 2014 We stayed in a promenade on Explorer last December for New Years. That was fun -- got to see the midnight celebrations on the 31st from the "safety" of our cabin. But it was a last minute booking when the promenades were going for less than the inside cabins. As I said -- it was fun and a convenient location, but I would never pay that more for promenade over an inside.
CruiseAddict1982 Posted April 4, 2014 #10 Share Posted April 4, 2014 Going on explorer in May and our promenade room was in the $400 range. Usually we do inside or ocean view. Have done balcony for our honeymoon but we spent most of our time out of the room. We'd rather save and get a cheaper room and splurge on casino, specialty restaurants and drink packages. PuterMonkey Posted April 4, 2014 #11 Share Posted April 4, 2014 I'm assuming that's $250 for the two people in the cabin and not pp. But I think that would be too much for me. We're in a PR for our upcoming cruise and it's only about $100pp above the standard interior.
ladylikes2cruise Posted April 4, 2014 #12 Share Posted April 4, 2014 we are booked in a PR cabin for the Explorer cruise in Oct. (Chose it because of the iffy weather that time of year, sailing from the N-East coast). Our cabin is currently $320 LESS that the current rate of the insides cabins:D
ryano Posted April 4, 2014 #13 Share Posted April 4, 2014 I got lucky with my only Promenade cabin on Freedom. Because of price drops, I wound up getting one cheaper than an inside room.
MrCruzeaddict Posted April 4, 2014 #14 Share Posted April 4, 2014 We have had 8 Promenade cabins on various RCCL ships. They are our favorite! We booked the very last one on an upcoming Indy 8 day cruise. I think that we paid around 100.00pp more than an inside. We usually book one across from the Pub, but ended up with one between the Pub and Cafe Promenade on Deck 6. marci22 Posted April 4, 2014 #15 Share Posted April 4, 2014 No way. For some reason, the promenade cabins felt smaller than a regular inside. Maybe it is because of the setup by the window. I might choose it if it was a few dollars more ($20?) but that's it. $500 more? No way.
mspink98 Posted April 4, 2014 #16 Share Posted April 4, 2014 Not a chance for $500. We're trying our first PR next February, but we're paying $120 more total ($60 each) over the cheapest Inside.
molly361 Posted April 4, 2014 #17 Share Posted April 4, 2014 No way for $500 more. We are trying our first next Jan/Feb and for a 5 night on the EX it is around $40 more total.
