yancycruiser Posted September 7, 2014 #1 Share Posted September 7, 2014 We've been on many cruises but never had a cabin with a connecting room. Has anyone ever had any issues with a connecting room - i.e. increased noise level? I need to make a decision by 8pm this evening on whether to take a connecting room in a desirable location. Thank you,
cb at sea Posted September 7, 2014 #2 Share Posted September 7, 2014 It shouldn't be an issue....if you do hear noises, stuff a towel under the door!
dreamer976 Posted September 7, 2014 #3 Share Posted September 7, 2014 I've had them before and while not ideal for me, I'd much rather have one in a great location, than a non-connecting room in a bad location. Everyone's definition of a bad location is different. For me it's LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION!!! Wherever it's to, have a great cruise.:)
jo24 Posted September 7, 2014 #4 Share Posted September 7, 2014 Had one on my first cruise on Allure - wasn't an issue at all! Most of the time I forgot the connecting door was even there!
GTO-Girl Posted September 7, 2014 #5 Share Posted September 7, 2014 Never had a problem at all.... If I had never seen the locked door which connects the rooms I would never known it was there.
dacsmom Posted September 7, 2014 #6 Share Posted September 7, 2014 Depending on the category of room you might have a chair instead of a sofa. I will take a connecting room in a great location any day.

Ken at the beach Posted September 7, 2014 #8 Share Posted September 7, 2014 Depending on the category of room you might have a chair instead of a sofa. I will take a connecting room in a great location any day. That would be the only issue that I would have.
yancycruiser Posted September 7, 2014 Author #9 Share Posted September 7, 2014 All of you confirmed what my thoughts were. Thank you for taking time to post. We are already looking forward to the cruise. Good night to all of you.
time4u2go Posted September 7, 2014 #10 Share Posted September 7, 2014 (edited) You might want to avoid it. See this thread: http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=2086945 A pretty strong majority of the posters in that thread recommend against it (including me). trev71 Posted September 8, 2014 #14 Share Posted September 8, 2014 Ive had one once and like i said before we heard them fight then make up. serveal times during the cruise the first time it was horrible then after that we just laughed. wasnt in the room too much. I would only book a connecting room if i wanted to go on this cruise and this was pretty much my only option.
cayennered Posted September 8, 2014 #15 Share Posted September 8, 2014 In order to accommodate the connecting door, the furniture in the connecting cabins are different from the normal cabins in the same category. Don't know what ship you are looking at or the type of cabin, but on Freedom the D category balcony cabins go from a full size sofa to a loveseat. The E category balcony cabins go from a smaller sofa to a chair. If having a sofa is important, this may be a deal breaker. This did happen to me, and I questioned both my TA and RCI prior to booking and was assured that the cabin had a sofa. I didn't. I was traveling with my daughter on that cruise, and having the sofa was important. Both the TA and RCI were of no help after boarding.

yancycruiser Posted September 11, 2014 Author #17 Share Posted September 11, 2014 Thanks everyone for your posts. Especially about the possible noise and sofa. We switched cabins several days ago and are still in a desirable location.
