Allure Dry Dock plans 2015

Recommended Posts

I have searched and cannot find a thread discussing plans for changes to the Allure during the upcoming dry dock. I assume that some of the same changes will be made that were made on the Oasis. I specifically would like to know if there will be new Grand Suites on decks 11, 12 and 14 above the Aqua Suites.

Also, will the same changes be made to the Viking Crown Lounge and the Concierge Lounge, and the addition of Coastal Kitchen.

Anyone in the know?

Just returned from 3 weeks on board Allure. Over lunch with the Captain and HD, the question was asked, but they would not give a definite answer as to what will be done during drydock. Had another lunch with the Hotel Operations Manager and Staff Captain and from what I could gather, they are learning from the mistakes made on Oasis.

Just curious, what were the "mistakes" made on the Oasis?

Thanks

Creating a Diamond Lounge from part of the Main Dining Room. That's been abandoned. A restaurant called Wonderland was planned for the top level of the former Concierge lounge, and that's on hold now. No telling if they will implement Dynamic Dining on Oasis too.

Maybe mistakes was the wrong word to use. Remember that things might look good on paper, but that doesn't mean that it will work once they try to implement on board. Here is an example http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showpost.php?p=45624743&postcount=2741

When Oasis was built, the outlets in the cabins were put underneath the desk. On Allure, we noticed the outlets in the same location were covered with metal plates, when the location of the outlets was moved to the top.

As people on the TA are already moved out of their boardwalk cabins it´s pretty likely that the Allure will get the new Grand Suites.

I never regarded the Captain´s Table as a mistake. The location was a bit odd in the Concierge Lounge. Now a lot of people are complaining that the Chef´s Table is gone. Actually it must have been a success as this concept was built into other ships. Oasis was the first to have a Chef´s Table.

I´m pretty sure that the VCL will be converted into Coastal Kitchen and Suite only lounge. Let´s say having a suite lounge and a suite restaurant is the state of art of suite amenities. You hardly can go without it as a cruise line. MSC and NCL do have their dedicated suite area, Yacht Club and The Haven. Celebrity converted the Michael´s Club to a suite only area and is now implementing Luminae as suite only restaurant. Just as a few examples.

I´d say keeping the old Concierge Lounge as a new Diamond Club instead of Wonderland - hey you can still convert the old (new) Diamond Club on deck 4 into Wonderland - is a good idea regarding the high numbers of repeat passengers with Diamond and Diamond+ status.

I just wonder if anyone was able to book Mamma Mia! (which BTW is gone from the Allure description on the RCI US website) for any cruise after the dry dock. Not offered on my cruise on May 24th.

Someone posted this RCL link in the other Mamma Mia thread that seems to indicate that it will be coming "in 2015"....so suppose that means after dry dock.

I think I read somewhere that the bump out balcony that were d1 and d2 are going to be all made into connecting rooms, which means that they will add the inside doors during dry dock. But don't quote me. We have one booked after the retrofit so I guess I will find out . I also remember hearing somewhere that the cupcake place will be gone. Or maybe I just heard a rumor.

Just our luck! We will see Mama Mia on the Quantum in March- then again on the Allure in December. We saw Chicago twice on the Quantum also.

Hope that the Quantum doesn't have CATS as the show- it isn't a good show at all. Certainly not the kids!

I have written confirmation from Royal Caribbean that Coastal Kitchen will definitely be up and running on Allure after dry dock. They assured me that this will be the case. Having read about how overcrowded the Windjammer is on Oasis, and how great Coastal Kitchen is, I'll be very disappointed if the info they have given us about Allure is incorrect.

None of that was done to any of the rooms on Oasis and I would not expect that for the Allure.

What was done was they re classified a bunch on the D1 and D2 cabins so that the D1 cabins were all for more than 2 guests and D2 cabins were for 2 guests. This had nothing to do with dry-dock and was done on a lot of ships.

I am one of the "bumped" passengers from an Aft boardwalk balcony cabin

for the April TA cruise. I was told that they are starting early on the conversion for the suites since it took longer than they thought on the Oasis.

Do you know if the secret balconies will be accessible when we leave Fort Lauderdale?

A couple questions, is the dry dock for sure happening? Also, where are they moving the Concierge Lounge for suite guest to? We are booked in GS 11254 in June and was hoping it would be closer.........but I am flexible.

Allure departs from Fort Lauderdale on April 19 for Barcelona. She will then go to Cadiz Spain for her dry dock. No further details available at the moment.

  • 4 weeks later...

Just checking in and bumping up for updates.

We will be sailing Allure in June 2016 so am anxious to see what updates will be made at dry dock. Question about Coastal Kitchen - we have booked a Junior Suite - which I know does not receive ALL the suite perks - but wondering if it would include Coastal Kitchen Access.

Also excited that Mama Mia will be coming to Allure!!

The first edition of the Harmony of the Seas deck plans are out and some of the changes may find there way to Allure.

Silk (Oasis DD renovation) / Chic DD venue

Deck 6

Cup and Scoops / Starbucks

Sabor Bar (moved from center of boardwalk) / Sabor Bar (integrated single bar)

Deck 8

Art Gallery (moved) / Additional retail

Park Café Bar (central) / Giovani’s Table Bar (to side)

Deck 11/12

Library (removed) / Wonderland

Diamond Club (moved)

Deck 14

Don't want to push this thread too far sideways, but for Steamboats and Bob, who seem to be RCI regulars, and for someone standing on the outside (me), do you think some of the problems RCI has had with Dynamic Dining is their attempt to phase this in, rather than either building or upgrading a ship to the concept completely, and just diving in wholeheartedly from the beginning? This is sure what it seems to me.
