I love Cruise Critic, and it's been a few years since DH and I have been on a cruise, and no offense meant, but the threads seem SO negative. I would like this one to please focus on your positive Celebrity experiences, to help us get that cruise excitement back for our 2017 cruise. I know that it's not all negative, so let's see what y'all have:)

I don't dwell on little things and this whole mess with the suite dining room is to me rather silly. Almost everything has bumps when the roll out occurs, give it a couple of months and everything will run like clockwork. Same thing happened with the smoking policy, change a few years ago in the dress codes, etc. It will all work out in the end.

For me, the whole cruise experience is a package, not one thing. I am on a cruise in three weeks and can't wait to get on the Summit and head to Bermuda. There's lots of good things going on and you are right that we seem to dwell only on the negative, human nature. As someone who has been on this board since it began, the board has changed to the negative also, maybe its a sign of our whole society at this point.

Just took a cruise on Celebrity Equinox. Fabulous!!! Cabin was spotless, service was beyond anything that we have been on in over 20 cruises. Café Bacio was always terrific, dining room was wonderful, sommliers were beyond helpful in their selections of wine, bars were flawless. The cruise excursion desk was patient, helpful and even warned us of seaweed that MIGHT be on our beach excursion in time for us to cancel. Incredible service, smiles, helpfulness. Tuscan Grill was wonderful, in fact, we had dinner there three times because we just enjoyed it so much!

On board we made arrangements for two more cruises. Celebrity ROCKS!

The positives: I just saved 15% by switching my car insurance to....

AND

The person my husband was talking to in the middle of the night was a guy wearing khakis so no need to worry.

:D

Glad you started this thread OP. Trying to get more excited for our December cruise! It will be our first with Celebrity

My next Celebrity cruise is not until July 2016. Nice roll call with some very experienced travelers. Doing research on Spain and Portugal ports of call.

Have a C1 aft cabin on the Constellation. Love this ship and the crew.

Have no problem with my reservation, the perks and OBC. Will upgrade my beverage package and use the laundry during this 13 day cruise.

Look forward to the MDR, Martini Bar and the Sunset bar area for sailaway. I know I will met new cruisers from all over the world and have a wonderful adventure.

Life is good.

We love Celebrity Cruises. We're loyal to Royal (well the family anyway) and we've actually started liking Celebrity slightly more. We love the new Mega ships of Royal, but Celebrity's S class ships are also brilliant.

The itineraries of Celebrity are excellent as is the food. We love the staterooms on Celebrity and we are now addicted to Balcony rooms, although we are hardly in the rooms during our port intensive Med cruises.

We've rarely experienced any rude staff and the overall atmosphere has always been very positive. The crowd on board Celebrity has always been just right, not too old, not too young and very courteous and friendly.

Yes the drink prices have increased and the Bingo prices are absurdly high, but you're yet getting a good value for money vacation (at around USD 100-125 per person per night for a balcony room)

Staying in a metropolitan city like Mumbai, we find that the drink prices are yet at par with any decent restaurant in Mumbai, so that doesn't really affect us. Also its non smoking policy really makes Celebrity our #1 choice when it comes to cruising.

2 of our next 4 cruises booked are on Celebrity.

We were on the Silhouette in February, our 3rd Celeb cruise. Here's the good news:

1.) The buffet had improved somewhat

2.) The mainstage entertainment had improved....a lot more than somewhat.

3.) The nightlife was incredible - the same or higher levels than we experienced on four Carnival cruises, except it was aimed for grown-ups.

4.) Service levels were consistent with previous high standards, except where they were exceeded.

5.) Some of the evening entertainment and dancing took place in the atrium - very classy.

We are on Celebrity Silhouette in June for our second cruise with Celebrity, the previous was 5 years ago. If you look closely most of the negativity comes from cruisers that are cruising multiple times a year. We loved the last one and I'm sure this one will be great. If things are different, so be it. It won't be a negative as we don't expect everything to be what it was the first time. We are on holidays and these are precious and so we will make the most of whatever happens. Even rude people are fun, we just thank our lucky stars we don't live with them, laugh and move on. Perth (& all of Australia) is one of the most expensive places in the world to live, so no prices are going to dent our happiness at being on holidays. Our dollar is down and we are still smiling(just)! The only thing that can upset my cruise is the weather, and even the most negative can not blame Celebrity for that!:D

With some pleasures, just a little makes it all just a bit more special;)

I am a little upset too to see all the negative stuff, especially about frayed towels, poor food, lack of "luxury" etc, but overall, I am still really excited about our forthcoming cruise, and I am sure that it will turn out to be just as wonderful as all of our past Celebrity cruises have been, they have been so memorable for all the right reasons! I have faith!

I have to agree, too many bad things spoken about and not enough of the good. Human nature I guess, if all is good, no one really considers passing that on, only when things are bad do people decide to publicise the fact. I am a glass half full person, it is a holiday and I am damned well going to enjoy myself, not worry about incidentals like towels etc. Its the experiences that are important, both good and bad, and I have to say from past experience, that the bad become things we laugh about later, particularly how we handled things. I am not brushing off bad experiences, because some can be horrendous and no one wants a holiday that is ruined, but a few trivial things is nothing in the grand scheme of things. Happy cruising........Chris

You'll have a great time, especially if you don't go looking for flaws. People who cruise a lot get too used to it, I think, and notice every little misstep!

Celebrity highlights for us:

- Solarium and hottubs...quiet and relaxing! And few chair hogs in this area.

- Homemade ice cream in the buffet, perfect afternoon snack.

- Excellent made to order breakfast omelets.

- Specialty restaurants are awesome!

- Service was really good, and beds are super comfy.

- Before dinner live music and lounges are so nice!

We have 4 future cruises booked with Celebrity over the next two years. Most of my spare time is spent researching excursions, hotels, things to do in each port, as well as trying to glean as much intel from CC roll calls and general posts. We also have the 123GO free gratuities, OBC, and classic drink package on all 4. I am struggling trying to figure out how to spend the OBC because the classic drink package looks more than sufficient to me (since DW and I don't drink much more than the occasional wine at dinner). Our last two Celebrity cruises on Connie were more than awesome. So I figure when my worst negative is trying to find ways to spend free money, I am living the dream :)

I agree - most people take the name Cruise Critic to serious ;)

People love to complain - us, we love to enjoy! Our vacation time is much to precious to get upset. Or search for things to get upset about.

Our last cruises were just as great as the ones before. October 2014 Holy Land Cruise on Silhouette - magnificent! South America on Infinity March 2015 - fabulous. Were they 100 % perfect? No, but 99,9 % is good enough for us.

Three more Celebrity cruises booked and really looking forward to them - says it all, doesn´t it!

We just got off the Infinity last month and we'll be going on the Eclipse next month.

On our last cruise the crew was stellar, as usual, and it was amazing to see how hard they all worked once noro hit. They looked exhausted but they were always smiling and looked happy to see us. Ship was good, food was good, everything was good. Really good.

DH ordered chocolate covered strawberries for our anniversary, which was April 1st. The strawberries came on the 1st night (not April 1st). DH was upset that his surprise was ruined so he called GS to ask what happened. They apologized and I told him not to worry, it was fine. Anyway. When we got back from our excursion on April 1st we found that our room and door had been decorated and we had the strawberries some wine and a few truffles as well. So we were both surprised. That was awesome.

Can't wait to get on board the Eclipse next month. The crew, the food, Al Bacio, the crew.....

One of the consistent over-riding positives you will find on every Celebrity ship is the Celebrity staff (and officers). They are friendly, they smile and look at you and say hello as you pass, they will do most anything they can to make your experience a good one. Sure, there's the occasional break from this...someone who has a bad day,etc...but that's really rare.

Those of us who sail celebrity often assume the positive, friendly atmosphere so when that doesn't happen...you read about it here. Similarly, there are many very good dishes in the MDR and some failures...we write about the failures.

You'll find that all the mass market lines (that's not meant to be derogatory) have their occasional failures or disappointments....and that's what folks tend to write about.

The major themes....the drink package price issue and the Luminae Lunch issue were significant because Celebrity tried to deliver less than they had advertised or were perceived to have advertised. In both cases, Celebrity took input from CC along with surely other input and changed course quickly...they do listen.

I am not one of the most positive posters on CC, but I have no reservations about recommending Celebrity to friends and family. Of course if you want higher end service, food, luxury (however you define it), there are other cruise lines, of course at a higher price. There are also some cruise lines I wouldn't recommend to my enemies, let alone my friends.

Don't read too much into the complaints, the issues....take a celebrity cruise and then decide for yourself if you agree with me....celebrity is the best of the mass market cruise lines.

We recently cruised ok our first Celebrity Cruise and loved it!! So much so we have booked another two. The food and drink offerings were amazing, beautiful ship and we loved the luxury small touches. We really felt spoilt the whole time :)

We were just on Summit (April 18 sailing). I'm working hard to finish up my trip report and hope to get it posted soon. Meanwhile, here are some of the many positives:

1) The buffet was excellent. Loved the pasta bar, loved all the fresh fruit and veggies, loved the "real" ice cream, loved the dessert theme every day at lunch (especially the tiny cupcakes). I thought the food quality was very good and the cafeteria was rarely crowded.

2) We had the classic drink package as a perk and it was so convenient. It was great not having to sign for everything and not having a long statement to sort through at the end of the cruise.

3) No smoking in the casino

4) Robes and umbrella in the cabin (nice, little touches)

5) Qsine was unique and fun

6) Extremely easy, quick and organized embarkation and debarkation in San Juan

7) Cold hand towels before getting back onboard in each port

I hope this helps you get back your cruise excitement. :)

We are leaving in a week to board the Constellation where we will have a fantastic crew, wonderful food, entertainment, included beverages and we will visit ports that we haven't experienced before. All with a fun group from our Roll Call.

We've only been on one Celebrity cruise (so far) on the Solstice and couldn't have been more pleased.

The ship was beautiful and the crew was really top notch.

Count us among those who liked the grass area. Before we sailed we weren't sure about it but the smell of fresh grass while at sea was very nice!

I think the reason you hear negative post`s is because so many of us cruise so often. Easy to nit pick. Celebrity is by for the best Mass cruise line there is. I have been on 10 different lines and Celebrity will always be our first choice. We love the luxury lines but I cruise about 5 times a year and Celebrity Sky suites or Aqua Class suite our needs and budget. The crew is the main reason we will always be loyal.

We did our first Celebrity Cruise in Nov 2015.

Quite honestly, everything I was reading here was getting me a bit down. I was worried I would be cruising with all the grumpensteins who were posting here. I was reading about people not following the dress codes, people who hated children (I was cruising with mine) and people who were quite obsessed with their "elite" status that I thought we'd be cruising with an elitist crowd. I red about drink package issues and the declining quality of food in the MDR.

I decided to just ignore it all.

We had a fabulous cruise. We booked another.

Sometimes I wonder if all the complainers have actually been on a cruise or if they just make this stuff up.

What a fun post!

What do I love:

-made to order goat cheese, ham, and asparagus omelet every morning

-great drinks menu with creative drinks that you can't get other places

-upscale dining room food - duck, lamb, lobster

-hot glass show

-bottled water and cafe al bacio in premium package

-waiters who make you feel special (bringing an extra dish to try, making a rose from a napkin, etc)

-balconies that aren't tiny like on other newest cruise ships

-beautiful ships

-grass!

-cellarmasters

I could go on and on!
