antmaril Posted May 17, 2015 #76 Share Posted May 17, 2015 (edited) Unsure. I am cruising on NCL for the first time in September on the Gem. I don't know if I will cruise on NCL again, but, if I don't, it won't be because of the recent changes. I have cruised on Carnival, Princess, HAL and Disney and have never used room service, nor have I ever taken food back to my cabin. So, those changes will not affect me in any way. If I decide to cruise on NCL again it will be because I enjoyed myself and they provided a good product. We shall see. For the record, I cruised on NCL once before, but it was my first cruise in 1982. I don't really think that counts anymore. cacj Posted May 17, 2015 #77 Share Posted May 17, 2015 I cruise in a suite and have never used room service......I cruise in a suite, because I like the size of the cabin. Just as you won't apologize for using room service, I won't apologize for sailing in a suite. And I however, do owe you an apology. I am sorry for being offensive. Nor should I have added any comment at all as the poll requested that we stick to the poll...again, apologies to all.
boopsahoy Posted May 17, 2015 #78 Share Posted May 17, 2015 (edited) We have a Carnival cruise booked for June-my husbands first on Carnival. If he likes it and we get a good offer from their casino we will cancel our December trip on NCL. Editing to say this is why I voted unsure. maywell Posted May 17, 2015 #79 Share Posted May 17, 2015 Oh, So if the price is right you could then trust them? LOL For $1,870 for a 12 day this year and $2053 for three 7 day b2b trips next year all for one person without double-occupancy pricing (solo traveler) - I don't mind putting up with the policies at all, lol. That's not trust issues, that's price is truly all right for me. :p
dexddd Posted May 17, 2015 #80 Share Posted May 17, 2015 I voted "unsure". We've got one booked for this year and were about to book one for next year but now I'm undecided at this point so I'm holding off on booking. I guess we'll see how things go on our cruise in December. See you are going the week before us on Spirit - which aft suite are you in? We are in 9708. Rare mking8288 Posted May 17, 2015 #81 Share Posted May 17, 2015 Voted unsure ahead but immediate future is really NO - would've been 3 to 4 cabins late summer - over this Labor Day on longer sailings. NCL won't miss us so spare the lecture. One of our TA came up with an excellent 12 days AI package, 2 new places with excellent fares, unmatched by any cruise deals. Leaning toward cancelling the other NCL booking on hold, late Fall using our last FCR, a wait-n-see as we can easily sell the certificate before it expire if we hold it - still time to cancel after returning from our vacation (outside the cancellation/penalty deadline.) For 2016, looking at CCL branded options since we've earned more than enough to pay for another balcony again, picking up the stock 3 years ago - plus nice quarterly cash dividends. Time to take advantage of stockholder's perks (stackable & combinable OBC) more often by sailing on their lines over NCL - which, under this new regime is lacking sound business ethics, showed poor faith & not trust worthy. For those happy with NCL going forward, nothing wrong per se as it's your money - trust & business ethnics are important choices for us to consider in giving our business to. We looked at booking an OS but decided just to go with the center aft suite.
johnlatte Posted May 17, 2015 #83 Share Posted May 17, 2015 (edited) Already booked our next cruise after the upcoming one (Dawn) on another line. I really don't care much for the changes NCL is making, but its a business and the bottom line and shareholder equity is going to rule most of the time. I'm pretty sure I will at some point be back on NCL just don't know when at this point. The only thing I am married to is my spouse, so. I look for an interesting itinerary first, ships second. I never understood the blind loyalty to a single cruise (or airline or hotel chain) line. To have a good time cruising, I must have good food, a relaxing atmosphere, be properly entertained and if possible, be culturally enriched. Most cruise lines hit those marks pretty well. I'm not going to let not being able to chow down in my cabin, or having to pay a coin or two more for a cocktail spoil my enjoyment. Life's short, too short to grind away at things we simply have little control over. NCL and every other line, earns my repeat business if they are able to satisfy my basic needs for cruising, if not, I move on. Happy cruising everyone! HokiePoq Posted May 17, 2015 #85 Share Posted May 17, 2015 I voted no but it's not because of dissatisfaction. NCL's itineraries are limited and until they put in new ones, we can only choose NCL for a repeat cruise. We have a future cruise certificate and will probably repeat a cruise sometime in the future. We'd booked South America with X right before we found out NCL was returning there. I am interested to see how all the changes impact our experience. I felt, under O'Sheehan, that NCL was headed in the right direction and that each cruise only got better. I'm getting a JCPenney feeling now. When their now departed exec came aboard and announced all the changes, I said I was finished and that business would suffer with the business model change. Sure enough that happened. I hope NCL is not headed in the same direction as we've thoroughly enjoyed all our cruises.
polySeraph Posted May 17, 2015 #86 Share Posted May 17, 2015 No. We are Platinum on NCL. Our last 2 cruises were on other lines. Our next booked cruise is on another line. We usually book a last-minute Caribbean cruise for late November or early December. I'm currently mulling over several different itineraries -- none of which are on NCL. To be honest, we are itinerary cruisers and we saw the writing on the wall a couple of years ago. NCL seems to be moving toward bigger ships and more generic itineraries. Still, there was usually at least one wildly creative itinerary in the mix every time new itineraries were released. Around the end of March, I was on the verge of using my last Freestyle Cruise Reward to book the Gem out of San Juan (11/16). I had just returned from a South American cruise (aboard the Celebrity Infinity). I decided to get an update by reading the NCL board and when I started reading about all the changes, decided that it made sense to wait. I'm not sure what I'd be getting by booking with NCL right now. I have lots of wonderful memories from my NCL cruises. We really liked the product. It makes me a little sad to see so many of the people that regularly used to post here on the NCL forum asking newby questions on the forums of other cruise lines. Two Wheels Only Posted May 17, 2015 #87 Share Posted May 17, 2015 I have next booked on Escape and may add another on either Escape or Getaway depending on who goes and what itinerary we decide on. We've been to most islands via either ship or flight but there are a few places we'd like to explore more. I would like to try the CCL Vista and the next RCL mega ship (whatever of the seas). I'm not "brand loyal" and I like to tryout new ships. Every line has plusses and minuses. I can have a good time with all of them. Whether I'm in the Haven or not, the room service fees aren't a NCL deal breaker for me.
ssnewbie Posted May 17, 2015 #88 Share Posted May 17, 2015 No, and I actually cancelled my Inaugural Escape cruise. The new policies, along with FDR's attitude makes me want to give my dollars to some other cruise line.
newmexicoNita Posted May 17, 2015 #89 Share Posted May 17, 2015 What the executives of NCL are really curious about.. and what they won't tell: Plain and simple, with all the recent changes, the bottom line: Will your next booking be with NCL? Let's see if there's any impact on the future bookings! Poll result discussing only please, let the other threads have the glory. :) have 1 booked for fall and will probably book another shortly after that, but who really knows and these polls, etc are getting really stupid!!!1 For the most part it is the same people and the same gripes. What we post here isn't going to make a heck of a lot of difference to the executiives because we are only a small part of a huge picture.
bugspost Posted May 17, 2015 #90 Share Posted May 17, 2015 I said NO...only because we already have our next two booked w/Royal...couldn't beat the prices w/their 50% off second guest BUT I do have 3 cruise credits w/NCL to be used up by 2018-2019 so will be using them in 2017. Prolly do a Panama Canal again but with NCL....hopefully the new locks will be open by then. :)

Badger-Badger Posted May 17, 2015 #92 Share Posted May 17, 2015 We ate getting ready to most likely cancel our Star booking and switching it to Royal for our Baltic cruise next summer. We were considering it anyway and the changes to the food policy have just kind of nudged us into doing it. I would still consider NCL for a laid back Caribbean cruise, but do to a serious medical condition I often suffer muscle fautigue/weakness and being able to have my dh bring me food to our balcony after long excursions is important to me (as well as not racking up room service charges for a decent breakfast). I prefer to save my energy and "good" moments for port or evenings on the ship rather than stumbling about the buffet feeling cruddy. On a less intense cruise I will still consider NCL. CAnative1 Posted May 17, 2015 #93 Share Posted May 17, 2015 I am going to be a first time cruiser with NCL in Nov and I am leaning towards no. Cruising with a toddler, the room service fee and the no taking away from the buffett area does have an impact on the way we cruise and enjoy our balcony rooms. My wife and I are fairly new to cruising and as such have not built up a "brand loyalty" as of yet, rather just feeling out what we like. This poll is so flawed and hopefully NCL reads the posts. Many are not saying they are not booking because of the changes, but because of other things. I have seen you mention a few times about how the poll is flawed (IMHO most polls on anything have serious flaws), are you a stock holder? It just seems that you take some of the responses pretty personal (no disrespect intended, just curious)

It just seems that you take some of the responses pretty personal (no disrespect intended, just curious) I wish I was a stockholder, but sadly no. Not taking it personal, just like it to be somewhat factual, since the OP wanted to show NCL what he thinks they are curious about and it is no way factual. Poll says: Will your next booking be with NCL? CAnative1 Posted May 17, 2015 #96 Share Posted May 17, 2015 Just curious, are you a shareholder of any of the other cruise lines (no disrespect intended, just curious)? Big negative there. I am just someone that has had the joy of experincing cruising (not nearly enough might I add). As I mentioned in my previous post, I have no brand loyalty as we are simply in the "feeling things out" stage as I would consider ourselves newbies with only 3 under our belt so far. Markanddonna Posted May 17, 2015 #99 Share Posted May 17, 2015 I just came off a 19 night NCL cruise and was very pleased but that was before some of these changes were announced. We made no fuss about the gratuity increases and downsizing of some Latitudes perks but the communication and "way NCL rolls" has become distasteful. I often wonder what will be next if I book another NCL cruise and these changes keep happening. RCL and Celebrity are now my favorites, with HAL and NCL tied for a distant third place and Carnival still running last. Most of my cruises have been NCL.
