Offers received from Club Royale (Royal Caribbean)

I just learned another tidbit from Club Royale. Given the brouhaha regarding earning double Crown & Anchor points when upgrading to a suite from a Club Royale booking that happened earlier this year, I wondered what the situation was regarding earning points on a free cruise. I was told that I would still earn points even on a comped cruise. :D

So, after pulling out my cruise points spreadsheet, I see that if I add a 5-night cruise this summer, I'll be Diamond Plus by the end of this year! Hmm....

Awesome!

Nick,

I was able to use my free Pinnacle cruise on an Ovation Alaska cruise - and it didn't have to be done within a year of receiving it. I did mine almost 2 years out from the date I turned Pinnacle.

Tami

Wow that would be great if I can get over a year to sail from now. It would really help my dilemma of too many cruises booked.

I’m only going based on my phone calls with C&A. I never got a certificate onboard when I turned Pinnacle so I’m not sure what the rules are except what I’ve been told on the phone when I called to inquire.

Congrats. And that’s good to know we will continue getting points for the free cruises that we earned and paid for LOL

There was no party, no cake, no recognition at all. Never saw the LA the entire cruise. They missed it completely. That’s fine with me cause I was solo. Maybe they will at least give us our “stuff” we’re supposed to get on Mariner 6/29 (stratum?, order badges, free cruise cert?)...

I just booked my free Signature balcony cruise on Anthem, making my 3/3/18 cruise a B2B with 3/15/18. The free cruise included an Obstructive Balcony cabin. I wanted to upgrade it to a 2D. It cost $145 extra to upgrade, even though the difference on the website is only $60. Still a good deal for a 8 night cruise. What I found that didn't make any sense to me was the insurance. The insurance cost is based on the actual price of the cruise before the certificate value is taken off, which in my case was $1529, but if I had to cancel I would only be reimbursed what I actually paid $145 and lose the value of the certificate. Insurance for $145 is only $29 for $1529 $89. If you are paying insurance for the actual price that's what you should be reimbursed for.

I recently had it extensively explained to me.

For the "free" pinnacle" cruise no points unless you upgrade to a suite. Then double points.

For the "free" Casino Royale cruise. You get points if you upgrade to a suite you get double points.

I have already booked 2 cruises this way, so I know this to be true, not gossip.

That stuff comes in mail. Champagne and block were given while on ship.

Stratum and cruise certificate came around 10 days later. Pins came about 6 weeks later.

Have you sailed them, though?

We do the free PC cruise next week.

I will know around July 7 if I get points

My husband and I haven't been sailing Royal lately, mostly because of the casino changes. We found out that I am Signature level and he is Masters level. We get many email and postcard offers for free cruises from them, including junior suites etc, besides the once per year free balcony I get for signature and the once per year grand suite he gets for masters. We called and as members of the same household, they will not let us book 2 rooms on the same cruise. Also if we want to combine offers, they can't give us higher than a junior suite, even though we both have junior suite offers already. They said they started that policy about a year ago. I told them they are just hurting themselves. Our casino money works very well on Carnival and at our land based casino. We might take some of the cruises later this year, but because of their new rules, we won't gamble. It doesn't matter if we don't get future offers from them. We would rather play where we get treated better, not penalized for being a married couple.

I called CR 4 times today trying to get my comp cruise booked. I feel like I spent all day dealing with them. They’re always giving me a different story of my level, what I can and can’t do, why i never got

An email, where my comp offer is... It’s ridiculous. I’m just about over the casino

I think they monitor these boards. I posted about 2 hours ago and I just received a call back from a supervisor which I had asked for a few days ago. The supervisor was pretty rude, so we are pretty much done with Royal. If anyone is a top tier and is interested in Carnival contact me, we have a great host, we can give your information to. I think that's the difference. The new Club Royale Player club is a travel agency. They are travel agents, not hosts, who answer the phone. The hosts on board have their hands tied and can't do much for you anymore. A host knows the value of a top tier player. A travel agent doesn't care. Penny wise and pound foolish, IMHO.

I think Carnival monitors these as well. Along with the other social media sites. Since we have been expressing dissatisfaction with Club Royale over the last year, I have been getting offers from Carnival and I haven't cruised with them in 14 years.

I have an international host that takes care of me. If you are a player and you want to reach out to me, I’ll give you my contact info and his. You will no longer wait for the offers or seek out the certificates. No need.

Let me know.

What adds to my frustration is all the new agents answering the phones. A “regular” CR Rep told me they just hired 25 new people. The 2 newbies I talked to yesterday were horrible and very annoying. I was put on hokf 5 minutes just to verify current price prior to me making a final payment. Then, everytime i asked a basic question I was put on hold for several minutes.

It’s correct that we are no longer talking to actual casino hosts. THese are travel agent s who know nothing about Casinos, Crown and Anchor, the ships, the program, etc.

I’m also not happy every time i board (5 times in the last 2 months) they have my tier level screwed up. I’m already spending LESS time in the casino lately. I may be spending even less time going forward at this rate

I have to laugh when I call and hear the recording call them “Casino Cruise Consultants”... as I get put on hold for at least a half hour before anyone even answers the phone at 8:15 am.

They must be in a training meeting lol. I really HATE calling them anymore. But if they would just EMAIL ME MY INVOICE when I book a cruise, I wouldn’t have to call them!!!!

6 months ago, it was always a pleasure to call Casino Royale. There was no wait and every rep was extremely friendly and helpful. Then the new program started to be discussed and their volume skyrocketed. Half the reps now don’t have a clue and will tell you anything to get you off the phone. I’m not pinnacle but am diamond plus and my new casino level is Signature and I know there are plenty higher than me but am getting so frustrated with RCCL. I may go back to Princess.

Haven't been following this new program development closely, so I apologize in advance if my questions have been addressed before. I didn't get any email from CR about my level, but I just got off Ovation and they told me I am Prime...so I am eligible for a free inside cabin, is that correct? If so, I should just contact CR to book it?

Yes, give CR a call. The free cruise must be taken by March 31, 2019. No longer than 8 nights and not over a holiday. Congrats!!
