Boarding the Summit

If out of Cape Liberty, MDR is open, I don't think this is the case out of other ports.

Other options:

  • Waterfall Café and Grille by the pool for burgers and dogs
  • Bistro on 5 - $10pp fee
  • If in a suite, Luminae is an option
  • AquaSpa Café at the Solarium Pool

EDIT: Are you on the Oct 18 Repo? Me too.... Not sure if MDR will be open or not in this one....as it seems to be unique to Bermuda sailings (maybe canada ones too...).

Guess what? The MDR was not open for our embarkation on September 6th in Cape Liberty. They stopped doing it. The buffet, Aqua Spa Cafe were open. Not sure if Bistro on 5 was open, we didn't check.

Oh yeah and no more trays in the buffet either.

Cruising Chick - Bistro on 5 is always open on boarding days. Must have been a bit since you cruised. Trays in the buffet went away a bit over a year ago. If you have a physical disability they will provide you a tray. They went away because people would pile their trays full of food and leave much of it. Food waste went down significantly according to the food people on Constellation.

They still had the trays available when I was on the Summit last March so taking them away must be more of a recent thing rather than over a year ago.

The trays they had in early Feb 2015 were smaller than the trays from the past but still much better than nothing. Sorry to hear they have been eliminated.

The Pool grill is open for burgers & dogs.

That sounds like a good option to me...we were told the MDR was not open on our Aug 23rd summit cruise and to go to the buffet, but perhaps the MDR has more limited hours as we inquired around 2pm. Luminae is open for those who have that oppty.

Can anyone tell me how the buffet is set up on the Summit? Is it similar to the different stations that the Solstice has? Or is it more like Princess ships where there's one entrance, you follow in a line, then exit out the other end?

Thanks!

M class ships (Like Summit) are like a donut where the kitchens and stations are center and we walk a circle around to get to all stations.

S class is an areas with multiple separate stations for like sandwiches, daily special, pasta, salad, pizza, etc. Very open and not rigid in flow like M class.

I have never minded the buffets probably largely because I am used to the ones in the casino's at Atlantic City. Celebrity buffets are a pleasure compared to those. Anyone going to the buffet on the first day should get there as early as possible since many people are now parking themselves at the tables until Celebrity announces they are opening up the cabins. Saw this on my last two cruises and it is really rude.

Oh! So it's NOT like on the Solstice. Okay, sounds pretty good though. Looks like it's a pretty big area from what I can tell on the deck plans.

The full center section that's blank, that's kitchen and the buffet line is completely around it along the outer edges.

Full aft.
