Suite perks

For what you pay for the two suites (plus the single supplement if there is only one person in the suite), I think they should allow the switch. I don't understand those who are upset that non-suite people are getting a 'free' breakfast in a speciality restaurant. It could be because I lack the background knowledge, never having sailed in a suite. But if the food comes from the same kitchen as the main dining room and is basically the same menu, what is the deal if someone is being escorted by a friend or getting a 'perk'. I know they are not letting the whole ship in there, but letting someone who paid two times the amount I paid for the cruise, should be allowed to bring a friend or two for a 'free' breakfast. No one is going to starve on a cruise ship.

I have eaten the suite breakfast in Sabatini's and also eaten breakfast in the main dining room. The food was the same. The only difference was the free shot of Champaign in the orange juice that you could get for the suite breakfast.

As suite perks go, the breakfast has the least value, in my opinion.

Just ask. They are very accommodating especially with "kids" they could have just as easily been "additional passengers" in your 2 suites for a lot lower fare than the additional cabin.

Don't worry about the others the ones that fight for the "perks" are generally the ones who haven't quite figured out the only real perk with a suite is the suite itself. Or they have and its disappointing. For us we rarely leave the suite sometimes not even for meals.......

There is noway the food is the same. You have a lot more choices and the food is not from the main dinning room.It is cooked in Sabatinis kitchen and is a lot better. Nice and relaxing and you can order off the menu if there is something you like and they will do there best to prepare it.

I was on the Royal in June. My mom and I were in an OS, my brother and SIL were in the adjoining balcony. My mom did not want to go to Sabatini's for breakfast, so I asked if my SIL could join me. I was told, "No, Sabatini's is for suite passengers only." They did check the manifest each morning until they got to know me (which took 2 days).

Sorry but I have to disagree with you on this one. I've had the pleasure of enjoying breakfast in Sabatinis a number of times. I have also eaten breakfast in the MDR. Another thing is they will make you basically anything as long as they have the ingredients on the ship and you give them 24 hours notice. IMHO, there is no comparison. Breakfast in Sabatinis wins hands down....:):):)

I agree. Plus the service is top of the line, a world away from the MDR breakfast.

I agree with you also. The service is what makes it special. I was in a suite on an Ocean Princess trans-Atlantic in December 2014, and the service for breakfast was the best service I have ever received. There are only ten suites on the ship and it was an 18-day trans-Atlantic, so the servers knew the preferences of all of the pasengers and they treated us like royalty.

See you in Sabatini's for breakfast on the Caribbean Princess trans-Atlantic in September.

I agree. Wife and I have been in a suite on the Coral twice in the last 16 months. We were usually at Sabatini's as soon as they opened each morning. Most days we were the only 2 people in there with 2 waiters looking after us. Some days there were 1 or maybe 2 other tables occupied (they told us most suite guests came later in the morning). Very nice way to start the day.

But if the food comes from the same kitchen as the main dining room

On grand class ships, they would have to bring the food

from the galley mid-ship on deck six aft, and then up

to deck 15 to serve it in Sabatini's.

On Regal / Royal, they'd have to take the food from the

deck 6 mid-ship galley down to deck 4, then forward,

then up to Sabatini's on deck 5.

Either they are using the Sabatini's galley, or your toast will be cold.

Any ship i have been on they have used Sabatini's galley. Why would they not. They have their own chefs for Sabatini's and they are there in the morning. i have spoken to them in the morning about a request for dinner that night. There steak and lobster I found is better then the crown grill. Its not on the menu but you can get it if you ask before hand.

Another Sabatini's loyalist! While some of the items on the menu sound the same, they seldom if every are the same. One example : Eggs Benedict. At the Sabatini's breakfast, they are prepared only after you order and just prior to being served! Wow the difference is amazing. This also holds true for everything that we have ever tried at a Suite Breakfast. That is not to say that MDR breakfasts are not good, but they lack the higher quality of the Suite Breakfast at Sabatini's.

We are concerned how our Suite Breakfasts will compare since they have eliminated Sabatini's. Hopefully the Crown Grill will carry on the Rich Tradition!

I agree with the other posters in that breakfast at Sabitini's is really worth the price of a suite. They will get you pretty much anything you want and know your preferences after the first day.

NO Suite - If I want grits for breakfast, I have to go to the buffet regardless of what ship I'm on because they are not on the MDR menu. And before anyone says you can just ask in the MDR and they will get it for you - they used to but not anymore.

Sabatini's has my grits every morning after the first day - they know their suite customers preferences.

We are in a suite in April on the Emerald so I am hoping the CG is the same experience for breakfast.

Of course they use the sabatini galley! I thought it was odd when someone

suggested they didn't.

There is usually a chef d'cuisine in charge of the speciality resturants.

On Ruby he did a fantastic job at the mtp lunch. I was chatting with

him about going to sabatini's, and how I would miss the black and blue

french onion soup from Crown Grill. He sent the soup to my table in

Sabatini's!

One more perk, although not as good as breakfast in Sabatini's (or wherever else...). You are able to order room service for your hot breakfast in your suite. It will not come from Sabatini's but will come from the MDR kitchen, not the room service area. You do have to wait for them to open (I think 7:30?).

As for the question about how late. There is a sea day time and a port day time. Regardless, they've had to "gently" persuade us to leave by x time because the restaurant is used for other activities.

We also love breakfast in Sabiniti's. It is so relaxing but after many years are really getting sick of the menu. Yes we order other things but it is just the same thing day after day. Maybe we are tired of it since we recently returned from a 5 weeks cruise.

We love it on sea days and go late but on a port intense cruises, for us, it isn't worth getting up early to eat before we need to meet up with our tour at 7:30.

WE have become good friends with people and crew we met there during breakfast. On long cruises, it becomes like a large family and breakfast can last a long time. The crew has been absolutely wonderful on every cruise.
