Temparature Inside the Ship

Recommended Posts

We're going on Allure in a few weeks and I'm starting to organize and pack. There are 4 of us, and since we're going to Caribbean (i.e. where it's hot outside) I have 7 t-shirts each times 3 of us + tank tops, shorts, etc (never mind what DH is taking). Yikes, we'll need a suitcase each.

So I'm trying to determine how many long sleeve items we'll need too. Are the dining rooms and main theatre areas cold? I know some places that over-air condition when it's hot outside. (I'm thinking more in the evenings)

Thanks.

Just off Allure yesterday. If anything, I found most of the venues warm. Don't forget that many of the places people hang out are on the Boardwalk and Central Park, both of which are outside. I found the elevators almost stifling. I tend to run very cold and never felt the need for long sleeves.

The only time I felt a little chilly was in the Amber Theatre, when there were very few people in it.

I would keep the 'long sleeve items' to a cardigan sweater for the theater. I personally have never found any dining room to be very chilly. Maybe a light weight sweatshirt if you might participate in any late night outside activities they may have on the pool deck. Remember when outside on the decks at night the ship is moving and the wind can make you chilly, not necessarily the temperature itself.

We've never been on Allure so I can't speak for that particular ship however, we have been on several other RCI ships and while I have always been comfortable, DW has always found the dining room and theater to be too cold for short sleeves. She always brings a sweater and/or shawl to wear in the evenings.

I wear a light jacket to most restaurants on land or sea. If my arms are covered I'm good. Same with theaters. I guess it's because you're sitting and not moving around you can feel just a little cool.

This can range from time to time and also keep in mind what is cool for one person might be hot for another one. I get cool easy but my wife gets hot easy.

Always wise to have both type of clothing for inside the ship and the ability to layer something on if you are cold.

Everyone is different. I am usually comfortable, even warm, in most areas of the ship. Cruised with a friend last year who was always cold regardless of where we were. I think it depends how much you like air conditioning - some air conditioned venues are on the cool side.

The coldest venue is usually the ice rink (obviously!), but I have worn 3/4 length sleeved knit shirt and been comfortable. People on the same row were wearing coats/hats/small lap blanket - you never know!

Thanks so much for the helpful responses. So perhaps I'll pack a cardigan as that can be taken on or off easily. I do get cold easily, and my kids and DH are usually warm, but will bring for all of us just in case.

PS - We have the ice show just before our formal dinner so definitely will need something ontop for that night

Years ago, I used to freeze in the public areas of the ship, but for the past 5 or 6 years, I have been very comfortable in most venues.
