Question re child/adult price

I'm now paying an adult price for my 12 year old - does anyone know if this means she can now accompany me in any of the adult areas ?

There are no child prices.

 

There are areas of the ship that restricted by age, such as the Solarium (16 and over) and the night club (18 and over).

It does not matter what you pay. Your 12 YO will not be allowed in the casino, solarium or bars after a certain time.

Under 16 can't go to "adult" areas on RCI...no matter what you paid! Kids or adults are "souls"..they pay the same price. the first 2 souls pay the full price...the 3rd and 4th soul pay reduced prices IF they are in the same cabin.

Thank you. for booking purposes she is classed as an adult (over12) child (under12). As I'm a single parent I was thinking that if I went to the gym she could come in with me (not to use the equipment but wait for me). Obviously I don't want her in the casino or disco at her age :)

Pricing on cruises does not go by age, but capacity. The 1st and 2nd person in a cabin pay x while the 3rd and on passenger in a cabin pay y. Age limits in other areas in the ship by by your true age. Two distinctly different things. If you are not used to cruise pricing it can seem off, but this is how most lines price cabins.

They may be OK with her just sitting on the side while you exercise as long as she doesn't touch the equipment. As far as other adult venues such as the solarium or disco, not going to happen. I really don't know what you mean by she's booked as an adult. Whether a person is six months or sixty years they are booked the same.

Can I just say that I did not make myself clear on my original question, although I thought I made it clear in further posts. When making a booking you have to state either 12 + or 11 and under. I appreciate you endevering to answer my question though. Thank you

I doubt anyone would bother to ask her age at the gym as long as you were together.

I'm a single parent also, and my daughter and I have always traveled together, with her always being charged "adult prices." Even when she was 2, I paid $1800 for her first cruise (including airfare). I know...it sucks, especially when they can't utilize the same ammenities. But I think you'll find that she'll have plenty to do for an hour or so while you work out as long as she's well behaved, which im sure she is since she's probably around adults all the time. I took my daughter On a cruise when she was 10 ( a week before she turned 11) and I let her make trips to te buffet or the promenade to get a snack or ice cream etc. and she was able to find her way there and back. She could always do something like that, and then come back to the gym to check in with you, then plan anther place to go, come back to check with you again etc. I think you'll be fine to be able to go to adult only places for an hour or so. She might like the kids club. Mine has never been because, as you probably understand, she was always with me.

Ummmm...BORING...why would you make her do that? Skip the gym and find things you will both enjoy.

Mr spook would spend a lot of time in the gym while he was still active duty. The attendants do kick you out if you are not old enough to be there. And a 12 yo is not old enough even when with an adult during the hours that kids are permitted. They don't even let student athletes use the facilities for training.

Just a guess, but perhaps they differentiate between under twelve and over because those 11 and under require muster station wristbands?

My 12 year old went to the gym with my husband recently. No one questioned anything. I saw several children who were younger than 12 but with parents they never said anything. There are a bunch of chairs at the front that she could possibly sit in if you don't want her working out.

As some others have suggested, if she is just accompanying you, while you exercise, it is unlikely that anyone will have a problem with that. If you're concerned about it, you could ask the staff, or you could just wait to see if they say anything to you.
