New to Azamara: questions about included drinks.

By Max's piano.

You'd think we would know that as we spend most of our evenings sat chatting to him and listening to his great music! We just always called it the Casino Bar!

As he is on Quest now, I guess it's next to Ed's piano on Journey. :)

I am so happy you are happy with the daily wine choices. My "one opinion" has been confirmed by others who are choosy about their wines. There is a HUGE difference between a reisling and a chardonnay, or pinot grigio, or prosecco, or sauvignon blanc. Then there are WHERE the wines are from. If you don't care, then that's fine for you. Azamara is FABULOUS, I love that they have superior crew, food, and more. All I'm saying is that the wine choices should be better.

And I'm saying they're just fine and you're expecting too much from "included" wines. If you want fine Chardonnays then open up your wallet.

Yech! Only one white? You have to be kidding. Why not only a Jim Beam Bourbon and a cheap gin? No other hard stuff. They even have three choices of beer.

Azamara has dropped the ball here. :(

I agree they are dropping the ball here on the wine. But I don't agree they have a choice of three beers--Bud and Bud Lite don't count as beers in my book, which means they really only have one viable choice included, Becks. Not a bad beer, but still, choice would be a fine thing.

If they have only one white, I presume only one red too. What does it tend to be, pray tell? For whites I like chardonnay myself, but a good one, alas, and I particularly don't like pinot grigios. Oh well, I'm not drinking much these days anyways, so I guess I'll be good on this trip!

Sorry, I didn't realize two of the beers were buds.:o I drink chardonnay. A sweet white won't do. Neither will a bad chardonnay.

Agreed. I also like a nice red from time to time. But I'll do without, or have a cocktail instead, if the wine's not good. It doesn't take much to please me, really, it doesn't have to be hugely expensive, just decent.

It's only really 'one' wine on the first day, after that you can always ask for a wine that's been the wine of the day on another day. I've never been refused, except when they ran out of the Rose. The Rose is a constant wine. They had a lovely one (think it was Portuguese), when it ran out the new one was sweet - not nice at all.

I think we have to understand that the ten or so whites and ten or so reds are not a wine list for us to choose from each day when we'd like a glass of wine. You really don't just say " I'd like the so-amd-so wine tonight with my lunch or dinner." They bring up cases of the white and red of the day to the dining room or buffet or wherever you are and these are what they expect to be serving that day. They don't have all the wines on hand waiting for you to choose the one you'd especially like, and it's a real burden if you expect your waiter or bartender to run down to the wine storage locker to get your specific choice. If they had to do that for everyone they'd have no time to serve meals or mix drinks.

What I find works if I'm not keen on the white or red of the day is to ask if there's a bottle of another white or red (whichever color I'd prefer with my meal) handy that I might have instead. The waiter will usually have a bottle from the prior day or two somewhere close by and if I'd prefer that one he or she will bring it to me.

By the way, Regent works the same way. They offer a white and red each day, and don't give you a list of all the "included" wines and ask you to make a choice.

I have asked for a specific wine that I liked and always got it, regardless of how many days ago it was offered. I prefer Sauvignon Blanc and once they have served one, I tend to ask for it every day.

We love it as well but hardly if it's a California one. Hopefully they will have the Austrailian.

 I think it's all rather subjective, born and raised in SF, Napa, Sonoma, Mendocino all have wines worthy of enjoying, not to mention the Sierra foothills and Monterey - central coast regions.

We also enjoy some dry Chardonnays from Australia and a good Tempranillo or Rioja from Spain or Portugal. Bottom line though, you can't please everyone - kudos for Azamara offering this.

Over the last few cruises we've done Oyster Bay sauvignon blanc has been available. They also offer a South African s.b. from the Stellenbosch area. Both are quite drinkable IMO.

Would be very happy with Oyster Bay SB - I often buy it at home.

You can find the list of complementary spirits and cocktails here

https://www.azamaraclubcruises.co.uk/booked-guests/onboard-packages/complimentary-beverages

soon to be first time azamara-

So do they not include limoncello, Baileys or Frangelico?

How is the lemon drop made from the included list that has been mentioned here?

Limoncello, Baileys and Frangelico are not on the complimentary/ included list.

A lemon drop Martini can be made with included vodka, triple sec, lemon juice and sugar syrup.

Wishing you a wonderful Azamara cruise and hoping that it's the first of many!

I am fairly fussy about my wines, but find the variety (five per day), sufficent enough to have one I like. If not, I can switch to martinis! However, I have not encountered this problem yet! :o
