Clarea Posted May 6, 2016 #26 Share Posted May 6, 2016 Really. 3,000 is my breaking point. But I don't have airfare, hotel, rental car, etc, etc, etc...:D Are you saying $2700 for two? I was thinking $2700 for one.
wolfganghowell Posted May 6, 2016 #27 Share Posted May 6, 2016 I know I'm in the minority here but.....I would do it. Reasons - BALCONY!!! In addition to a BALCONY, you mentioned your anniversary. It might be nice to have a balcony to have breakfast, watch a sunset, toast each other with your favorite adult beverage. BATHTUB - better bathroom is a thing for me. CLOSET - so much easier to keep the room tidy with a decent sized closet COASTAL KITCHEN - major draw. Much better breakfast and dinner experience. Although I admit we didn't step foot in the MDR on our Oasis cruise because everything we heard was terrible. You already got a great discount with your casino rate. I would make the anniversary splurge and enjoy. But only YOU know your budget. Either way, enjoy and have a great cruise. And win big! The Wheel of Fortunes were very kind to me on that ship. We are Club Royale as well.
Rare John&LaLa Posted May 6, 2016 #28 Share Posted May 6, 2016 (edited) Are you saying $2700 for two? I was thinking $2700 for one. Yes, $2,700 for two. Pretty sure his existing OV was $1,500. You even congratulated him on that price. ;) I actually got a freedom JS for 2 grand this past March. Bogoho 1 price. :D Edited May 6, 2016 by John&LaLa

Still too high for me. When it gets to $1200pp, then I get interested. Of course, if it's mid-summer, these numbers are too low. Panda3 Posted May 6, 2016 Author #31 Share Posted May 6, 2016 Hi just to confirm it would be 1200 for both of us so additional 600 per person for a JS ...we already spent 750 per person for the cruise . (Tips included) that is still a big jump the only thing that was tempting me was the fact that it was our anniversary I don't know much about this coastal kitchen the last time we were on oasis we ate in specialty or main dining room and loved it. I love the solarium for breakfast . We didn't go to the Windjammer once of course we were forward on the ship. Desert Cruizers Posted May 7, 2016 #34 Share Posted May 7, 2016 Two years ago we were taking cruises from Sydney Australia back to Vancouver and got a fabulous price on a JS for the Transpacific however for the 2nd leg, the 12 day Hawaii that same room would have cost us $2,000 more, we downsized to a D-1. Virtopia Posted May 7, 2016 #35 Share Posted May 7, 2016 I'd do a B2B with the extra money or get a couples treatment in the spa!
PhoenixCruiser Posted May 7, 2016 #36 Share Posted May 7, 2016 I would upgrade! We paid $4,000 for a JS on the Oasis and that didn't include the grats. Then again we do spend a lot of time (especially when the casino is closed) in our cabin. ###

Rare bobmacliberty Posted May 7, 2016 #39 Share Posted May 7, 2016 Put all $1200 on Red and pay for your cruise! Seriously, how about a compromise? What would it cost to upgrade to an Ocean balcony? Won't give you the perks of the JS but if it's only small amount for the balcony, could be worth it. I put a lot of value on having a balcony. There's a word for people like me. :D
loubetti Posted May 7, 2016 #40 Share Posted May 7, 2016 It's your money, life is short, and it is your anniversary. You know what you can afford. For an anniversary years ago, we already had a fabulous aft balcony (basically a small suite) on Celebrity Millennium for an 11 night med cruise. However I put the icing on the cake by paying $5500 to upgrade to first class on the flights to and from Italy. It turned out to be worth every penny! toxicfairy Posted May 7, 2016 #41 Share Posted May 7, 2016 Book an 11th anniversary cruise while on board❤. And the rest for something fun. I love suites. But as long as I'm not in an inside ( sorry i need light) I'm happy. Last summer we had a promanade cabin and i loved it!

kalliekae Posted May 7, 2016 #44 Share Posted May 7, 2016 I wouldn't pay that much to go from a standard balcony room to a JS, but from an OV, I probably would, especially if I were celebrating a special occasion like 10th anniversary. I really like having a balcony. I agree. However, we don't gamble or drink much so we would rather spend the money on a nicer cabin plus the bathroom is far nicer and you get a walk-in closet. To us, a JS is worth the extra dollars. You would enjoy the balcony and it IS your 10th wedding anniversary. :)
Bookish Angel Posted May 8, 2016 #45 Share Posted May 8, 2016 (edited) What's an interest bearing CD? My motto is live frugally in order to travel but I am always, always saving money. Edited May 8, 2016 by Bookish Angel
Rare LMaxwell Posted May 8, 2016 #46 Share Posted May 8, 2016 Two monthly contributions into IRA account. Not worth that coin to upgrade to a JS; it is not a real suite in terms of amenities.
Baowen Posted May 8, 2016 #47 Share Posted May 8, 2016 Hello, So...what would you do, hang tight or shell out an additional $1200 for a JS for a week on the oasis? Thank you. Save the money!!! You could do some great shore excursions ....Specialty restaurants. ... Book your next cruise!! No way is. JS worth it!! Have fun!! Beth
Rare mac_tlc Posted May 8, 2016 #48 Share Posted May 8, 2016 Only you know what $1200 means to you, but since you asked...... I will join the minority and would do it. $2700 for a JS on the Oasis is pretty good if its summer. I was looking for August 2017 when the were released and they were closer to $3700 for 2. We spend a fair amount of time on our balcony, plus the extra space is worth something to us. mac_tlc
