Why No Blender Martini Bar - Solstice

On the 6/3 Alaska cruise and no blender in the Martini Bar.

OMGosh every time somebody ordered a blended drink the bartender had to make a mad dash to somewhere else (kitchen, Mast bar??).

If 2 people ordered blended drinks then no bartenders for minutes, I mean how much can a blender cost? $25-$30?

A nice commercial blender will run you much more than $25/$30, and I do agree it makes sense to have one.

However, as other have said, it IS the martini bar....

because its a martini bar

Yes, that is correct, Martini Bar, specifically... but willing to accommodate at the cost of having everyone else wait for their return to make more martinis...

Yet I do not begrudge the OP for wanting what they want where they want it even if it is not the correct place to order it.. were it a regular on-board 'bar', that would be an issue.

bon voyage

Per previous posters, the Bar is called a Martini Bar and that is what they do. They will serve wine and some other drinks- but it is a Martini Bar. If you want a mixed frozen type drink, you can go to another bar and get it. You can sit in the Martini bar area if the person you are with prefers a Martini. The Solstice class ships also have another specialty bar-the Molecular Bar- it is located more towards the center of the ship. They limit their bar menu also to the "healthy" drinks made with fresh fruits- you cannot get a frozen drink at that bar or a Martini.

I love the Martini Bar for Martinis but my DH does not drink alcohol and likes blended drinks. Thankfully the Martini Bar accommodates us both. Yes they have to go into the back room to make his drink but it's no different from the bar staff being occupied making a Martini Flight for one guest and slowing down service for others. If the Martini Bar was only for Martini drinkers it would be very quiet and a less special place.

The Martini Bar isn't just for Martinis. If it was its would be very quiet. As it stands it's the best bar on the S class.

And they are so noisy.

A noisy blender would spoil the ambience.

EXACTLY! A blender would TOTALLY drown out all of the soft, relaxing sounds of the soothing, mellow music they always play at the Martini Bar! :D

What twaddle. It's called the martini bar but you can get any drink there including frozen blended drinks. They go into the back room to blend drinks. If I like a Martini and my DH wants a virgin blended drink then the Martini bar accommodates both of us. In fact his blended virgin drinks became more exotic looking every night . We should not have to go to another bar because one of us prefers virgin blended drinks!

Yes the Martini Bar is just that the Martini Bar.yes they make different cocktails too but I think making them run to the back room to make a blended drink is expecting a lot. Yes you are at a bar and have the right to request what you'd like. It inconviences the rest of the martini and regular cocktail drinkers. When the bartenders have to leave the bar to make a special cocktail. Not saying they can't add a bartender of two to help out.

Forget the blender by the bar. Would mess up ambiance and would be hard to have any conversation with anyone with that screaming wide open..

One of our biggest complaints about the Martini bar - the music is frequently so loud you can't talk to the person next to you. However, I can't imagine battling the loud music and the sound of a blender.

By the way, if you notice they use a large commercial Oasis machine in place of a blender and it feeds ice directly in to the container to get the correct ice ratio. Those machines are quite large, not sure where they would put it behind the bar.

I believe during busy times the correct protocol is for the bar staff to politely direct you to one of the (nearby) bars such as the Casino Bar that serves a full bar list including blended frozen drinks.

Just as I wouldn't expect the Martini Bar to make after dinner coffee based drinks, or serve the same selection of wines as Cellarmasters - nor would I expect them to make blender drinks. But hopefully you take good care of the bar staff whom have to leave the Martini Bar to go to another location to make that drink specially for you.

Please advise at what time in the evening do they play the soothing, mellow music in the Martini Bar? I did try to frequent the Martini Bar as much as possible (hic!) but must have missed that small window of opportunity to relax in peaceful bliss. Or have they tossed it out, along with formalwear, as it is not a suitable ambience for the elegant chic ones? :D :D :D
