mvaughan Posted September 26, 2016 #2 Share Posted September 26, 2016 Usually you can, both have to upgrade and yes they have other options at martini bar that are covered under classic. Sent from my iPad using Forums

Happy Cruiser 6143 Posted September 26, 2016 #5 Share Posted September 26, 2016 Yes you can upgrade on the third day. No, you do not both have to upgrade. That poster must be confusing Celebrity with another cruiseline.
bEwAbG Posted September 26, 2016 #6 Share Posted September 26, 2016 Both do not need to upgrade, as noted by others. Third day should be okay but there is a definite cutoff time based on the length of the cruise. You should double-check once you're on board so you don't miss the deadline. The bartenders will generally serve other drinks at the Martini Bar but when it's busy, I've seen them direct people not drinking stuff from their menu to other bars. They're priced as a premium package establishment. If they do make you a different drink, make sure they know you're intending to use your classic package so you don't have any surprise charges. deliver42 Posted September 26, 2016 #7 Share Posted September 26, 2016 I may be wrong, but I believe the only line that makes both buy the package is Carnival.
sandyss Posted October 2, 2016 #8 Share Posted October 2, 2016 We just got off of the Millennium. On the 1st day of our cruise, the sommeliers in the MDR were offering 2 for 1 upgrades to the Premium package. $10 per day total for the 2 of us. Wine-O Posted October 2, 2016 #10 Share Posted October 2, 2016 We just got off of the Millennium. On the 1st day of our cruise, the sommeliers in the MDR were offering 2 for 1 upgrades to the Premium package. $10 per day total for the 2 of us. They had the 2 for 1 upgrade on Summit back in early May, but when I asked for it when we boarded in June, I was told that was just a one-time deal that has not been continued. Both do not have to upgrade, and both do not have to have the beverage package. I will have it for a TA later this month and my wife will not. I plan to upgrade to the Premium Package on day 6, once we depart the Med for all the sea days during the crossing.
bphman Posted October 2, 2016 #11 Share Posted October 2, 2016 When I upgraded my package, the rep asked me if I wanted to upgrade just mine or my wife's as well. How do you think it would have gone if I only upgraded mine? I would be looking for a single cabin from that point on.
james'mommy Posted October 2, 2016 #12 Share Posted October 2, 2016 I upgraded my package when we boarded no problem. DH didn't upgrade. I won't upgrade in the future because DH was able to get almost any drink I was and I'm not a big fan of martinis.
cawags Posted October 2, 2016 #13 Share Posted October 2, 2016 (edited) Same here bphman! The premium package was one of the main reasons I got the "reluctant" cruiser on the ship last year. Had to promise business class flights and premium booze to get him to go. LOL. Now it's expected. 😈 I guess that's one way to get him to go. Worked. 3rd cruise in March and a B2B to boot! purdo Posted October 2, 2016 #14 Share Posted October 2, 2016 (edited) We were on the Eclipse in August and had the Classic package. Hubby (another reluctant cruiser) had considered getting the Premium package, but found he didn't need to as there was ample on the Classic package for him. Both don't have to upgrade as we did ask but as I don't drink that much, I certainly wasn't going to upgrade. We were with my sister and her hubby and we ended up at the Martini bar on numerous nights. There was also a choice of various cocktails one could choose there was more than ample choice. Meeting up with other cruisers through the Roll Call, also on Classic package they were able to buy Martini's at other bars but not at the Martini Bar! We were able to have whiskey & coke, Baileys, cocktails, soft drinks etc at the Martini Bar. The waiters were more than accommodating. cruisingtheword Posted October 3, 2016 #15 Share Posted October 3, 2016 Princess also requires that everyone sharing a stateroom be on the same beverage package.
royalcruz Posted October 3, 2016 #16 Share Posted October 3, 2016 Princess also requires that everyone sharing a stateroom be on the same beverage package. This is no longer true. We sailed in 2015 and 2016 on Princess and only my DH had a beverage package. They allowed him to purchase and share discounted bottles of wine (40% off I think?), so he bought wine in the dining room and wine bar that I enjoyed. :)
royalcruz Posted October 3, 2016 #17 Share Posted October 3, 2016 We've always been able to get drinks on the classic package at the martini bar on Silhouette, including small classic martinis and cosmos. On Equinox, the martini bar refused to serve us anything on the classic package, so we had to get drinks at the casino and then bring them to the martini bar to join our friends.:(
cruise101 Posted October 3, 2016 #18 Share Posted October 3, 2016 I realize that this thread relates to upgrading from classic beverage pkg to a premium one. In a response Wine-O makes reference to only one person in the cabin being able to get a beverage pkg. My understanding (probably incorrect) is that one person in the cabin cannot have a beverage pkg, and that to get a beverage pkg, both passengers in the cabin require to buy one. Is this true? We have friends sailing with us on an upcoming cruise, where they dont have a beverage pkg. included as a perk. The wife does not drink, so would it be possible for just the husband to buy the beverage pkg - i.e. only for one person in that cabin. Thanks in advance for your responses. I'm sailing on an upcoming cruise, and I purchased the beverage package for myself, and not my wife. She drinks very little, so she will pay for every drink she has which won't even come close to the cost of purchasing the package.
Rare Von & John Posted October 3, 2016 #21 Share Posted October 3, 2016 Hi -- It is possible for only one person to purchase a beverage package in a cabin. It's also possible for only one person to upgrade a beverage package in a cabin. I think some of the confusion comes from the Free Perks. Our understanding, from our TA, is that both cabin occupants must select the same free perks. However - Purchases can be completed individually. 2theship Posted October 3, 2016 #22 Share Posted October 3, 2016 When you are choosing a beverage package as a perk as part of a promotion, you both need to do it. If you are purchasing the package, it's by the individual. While I might be tempted to upgrade to premium, DH is not. That may all change after next October when our promotion included the premium package.:D

Rare cruisekrazykaze Posted October 4, 2016 #24 Share Posted October 4, 2016 With the free perks drink package, is the gratuity also included for free? On Celebrity it is, not other lines it may not be. Another great perk of Celebrity!
