Would it matter or would I notice something if I was on the 2nd floor vs the 7th floor?

Is getting a cabin near the elevator not a good idea?

On the Vista for 6 days 2 ports. Amber Cover and Turks.

1290.28 with tax 7th floor

1130.78 with tax 2nd floor.

Hi,

We love cabins near the mid ship elevators.

No extra noise and ease of getting around are 2 reasons for that.

There is a difference in how you feel the motion of the ship on different "decks"(not floors in a ship).

Generally speaking the higher up the more motion you will feel. Since we only book balcony or suite cabins (which also have balconies) we like to be higher up for views but not much higher than deck 7.

More important than the exact deck is the plan of the ship so look to try and have cabins above and below you instead of a bar or music venue or any other place that might have noise when you are trying to sleep!

First time ever on a cruise my friend and I shared a inside stateroom on the very bottom deck. Worst experience in my life. Swear we heard a forklift working all night long - constant backing up beeping noise and then pinging noise of some sort. Swore I would never book at the bottom of a cruise ship again. On deck 7 this time in between 2 decks of rooms. Can't wait!!

After googling the specific cabin #s (and checking here for reviews); I'd follow the suggestion earlier and check what is above & below as to noise levels.

If an outside, I'd be leaning to deck 7, prefer higher vantage point as to view.

Midship less movement as to sea sickness, would think deck 2 might have less but possibly noisy from crew areas below & depending on location might hear the anchor chain early (which I like as a wakeup call of sorts on port days:D).

Good luck

What type of room are you considering? If it's a balcony, I would suggest deck two which would be a cove balcony. We've had both regular balconies and cove and I would book cove anytime it's available in a good spot (not below the galley).

We've sailed two times with a cove balcony. Same room (2337) but different ships. The first time on the Dream and this last time on the Breeze. I absolutely LOVE these balconies, especially sailing out of Galveston. We saw so many dolphins, it was unreal! I've never seen that many before when leaving any of the other homeports.

Ehhhh.....I could go either way. I do enjoy a higher deck but am rarely willing to pay any significant fare increase to get there. It really doesn't take that much time on the elevator comparing deck 2 to deck 7.

I am booked on Deck 2 of the Vista and am happy with my choice. To me the only thing I really look at is what is above and below me. I try to avoid noisy areas. Deck 7 has cabins above and below, so if you want to spend the extra money choose Deck 7. Deck 2 may have restaurants or other cabins above you but they should not be noisy. With $160 difference, I would probably go with Deck 2.

I beg to differ...have had a cabin on deck 2 a few times and spent more time waiting for elevators to the lido than I preferred...I am on deck 7 mid ship this time with cabins below and above. 2 flights up to lido...2 flights down to shops and casino....:)

We have been on deck 7 on 4 cruises with mid ship cabins on all but one. Last cruise was on deck 2 just under guest services "back offices". I can tell you both were very good. Much easier to catch an elevator last cruise. All the cabins were quiet except the 4J on deck 7 where people allowed the door to the front deck to slam late at night.

In my opinion, it depends on what you like to do during the cruise. On my last cruise we had a cabin on the Lido deck. We rarely spent time on the Lido deck so it was not worth the upcharge. Most of our time is spent on the Lobby, Atlantic or Promenade decks.

I prefer lower midship away from elevators. So I would go Deck 2 and go mid ship at least 5 doors away from the elevators. That is me though. I have a hard time sleeping with alot of movement and front and rear I have had alot of movement that made it hard to sleep, front you get on port days the anchor noise waking you, have had rudder noise(aft) on docking as well.

Mid ship you get less movement/noise and lower into the ship you also get less movement. Near elevators also can be noisy to all hours.

Lastly, deck 2 you will only get those who are on deck 2 in there for the most part. Deck 7 you will have more traffic from those trying to navigate the ship and I personally prefer not to have that.

Last cruise I was deck 6 forward in the Inside Obstructed view windows, the room was great, movement SUCKED. Almost got tossed out of bed the 1st night, had a hard time sleeping a few nights due to the movement. Also was woke early each port day with the noise from the anchor drop... Loved the room though and might book it again just because the room was that good, otherwise the noise and movement were awful but a
