Equinox Dress Code

Can someone advise if dress shorts and a button down collard shirt are allowed in the MDR on the Equinix. We recently sailed on the Anthem of the Seas and it was permitted. Husband would like to bring his silk Tommy Bahama shorts.

Shorts in the MDR are permitted at breakfast & lunch but not at dinner.

 

 

The change to tge dress code replaced formal nights with Evening Chic.

Shorts are over looked the first evening of the Cruise in the MDR. We sailed on the Eclipse April of this year and I wore shorts the first evening in the MDR. On my way out of the MDR the Maitre D stopped me and very politely advised me that shorts in the MDR in the evening for the remainder of the Cruise will not be acceptable. No problem as I dress IAW the suggested dress guidelines after the first evening. On the third evening there was a father and his teenage boy walking into the MDR in front of my wife and me. The same Maitre D that stopped me stopped them and told them they would need to change into long pants to eat in the MDR in the evenings and denied them entry to the MDR. That was my experience. Take it for what it's worth.

Dress code in the evenings in the main dining room has always been no shorts.

He will be just fine wearing them during the day on the ship or if you want to eat really casual one night they're fine in the Oceanview buffet.

 

We'll be on Equinox in less than a week (!!!!!!). My favorite ship.

One of our friends was not even allowed into the elite cocktail hour in the lounge one evening because he was wearing shorts but actually had on a collared shirt. No shorts in the MDR for dinner.

No they are not, just as they were not before.

Shorts are shorts no matter what we pay for them. I have 'many' TB silks also.;)

Only in the buffet. In the MDR only during the day. Not allowed in the MDR at night. He can try it, but why risk looking like a fool when the Maître D. refuses him entry in front of all the other guests?

Agree. At least on this particular Cruise. We had Early Traditional Dining.

On the first night, some will claim their bags haven't arrived or they came too late for dinner dress. Thus they get in the dining room as is.

We purposely don't wear shorts at boarding. And my carry on has a pair of shorts and a swimsuit, in case the bag gets lost/delayed along the way. ;:eek:

Maybe im having a senior moment but i swore on Constellation in Feb that Ii wore a real,super nice pair of dress shorts and a cubavera or tommy Bahama button down in main dining room..maybe im missing it.. love to dress up not a problem...just cant figure out how i got in there if i did..hmmm?

There's not a designated person to scan each and every passenger so it's possible no one on staff noticed. Doesn't mean you wouldn't be stopped in the future. Or, as mentioned, it could have been the first night when they're a little more relaxed about it since some people may not have gotten their luggage delivered before dinner.

T-shirts, swimsuits, robes, bare feet, tank tops, baseball caps and pool wear are not allowed in the main restaurant or specialty restaurant at any time. Shorts and flip-flops are not allowed in the evening hours. The dress code will be enforced at all restaurants. And guests are asked to follow the Smart Casual or Evening Chic dress code in the Celebrity Theater for all evening performances. The daily program, delivered to your stateroom and available at the Guest Relations Desk, will be your guide to the correct attire each evening.

My post had to do with entering the MDR not leaving. So when we entered the MDR we were greeted by the Maitre D

and me wearing shorts was overlooked. All he said at that moment was a polite welcome, enjoy your meals and we were escorted to our table by a waiter. Being notice when leaving isn't the issue. However I'm glad the Maite D (same Maitre D entering and leaving) had the stones to advise me that he would enforce the suggested dress guidelines for the MDR in the evening for the remainder of the Cruise. As I stated in my original post we always dress IAW the suggested evening dress guidelines after the first evening for The MDR.

Thank you. I assumed they were not permitted. My husband usually wears dockers and a nice shirt. The fact that you can now wear jeans especially on formal night has me confused. He thinks that jeans are too heavy.

There is no formal night. There is Evening Chic and Smart Casual. On Evening Chic they say designer jeans are good. Whatever those may be. I guess they don't mean Levi's. I agree with your husband, jeans are too heavy for a Caribbean cruise. I wear chinos.

Just for clarification. Formal Evening has been replaced with Even Chic. What you have described is perfect for any evening.

Don't confuse the buffet for the MDR... but swimwear isn't allowed there, either.
