Love those hot chicken wings and usually have them daily after dancing at the disco.

Who cares about their nutritional value?- I'm on a cruise!

Years ago, Me friend and I (who was also a so-called vegetarian) would go to our corner bar and, on Monday nights,

have "ALL THE CHICKEN WINGS YOU CAN EAT" for $3.00 .

Yes, for the rest of the week, we were again vegetarians.:p

totally agree low carb does not equal healthy

Since when is avoiding sugar and refined flour unhealthy? Countless studies are supporting a "smart" low carb diet as far superior to the low fat refined crap that has been pushed on us for decades - you can about see the "hockey stick" effect in US weight gain from when the US started pushing low fat diets.

Huh? Nobody said avoiding carbs is unhealthy. I think the point was that a low carb option is not necessarily a healthy option. The OP mentioned ordering a burger (no bun) with extra mayo, and our comments were in response to that.

I would say that at least 80% of the wings I've ever had were breaded. Perhaps that's just the norm in the Midwest and isn't the case elsewhere.

Wings here, especially at wing joints, are never breaded (unless boneless). Deep fried plain, then sauced (buffalo is butter mixed with franks hot sauce).

I have not idea about the nutritional stats on the wings, but the Thai chili wings are great! I had them almost every day on the Epic and was so disappointed the Pearl had the old menus. I enjoyed the chicken pot pie on the Pearl a couple months ago, but I'd happily have traded it for the Thai chili wings. :D

Burger, no bun, extra mayo it is then.

Shame, chicken wings are a low carb staple when at the bar..

They may be low carb but they are extremely high in fat and calories, and we wont even talk about the sodium. Wings are the worst food you can eat at a bar.

Wings are an awesome part of a LC diet, used in moderation of course :) But not the ones that are breaded - those are high carb, high sodium, high fat.

Had wings twice on the Escape and they were very good. I guess the saying different strokes for different folks is true.

And food of any kind any place is SO SO subjective.

I totally agree......food is very subjective so I am never critical of another person's choice. I am not a foodie, I loved the wings and so did my mom who normally was not a wing kinda woman and based on the amount being served around me so did quite a few others. My last cruise was on the Breakaway with mom in a Haven suite. Except for the awesome french toast (and for mom scallops) we preferred O'Sheehans burgers, wings and loved the ribs they would have for specials. O'Sheehans was also for us anyways...easier, never a long wait if any and we could leave in mostly under an hour, and close to the casino for my mom who was not well. very few service problems for us and once when we complained it was handled.

Well when you eat steak and fish and cheese you know what you are getting. Chicken wings are normally just fried with a sugar free sauce and no breading. It's the hidden things that can really wreck a person so now that I know this I will *try* to not have any, although I have the UBP, so I will anyway after I have 8 Jack and diets.

Very poor assumption, especially with the 'cheese'.

Well, I'm on the list of loving O'Sheehans, Blue Lagoon or what ever name it goes by. I have never thought any of the wings were breaded on any of the ships, and I actually really enjoyed them, and so did my teenage son. Their prime rib was really good, and their brownie sundae (when they had it) was out of this world. I along with a few others probably ate there most often. The breakfast was really good also. Yes, service was a bit slow, but not bad enough to keep me away. I say, try them, you just may like them. Everyone has an opinion, and they are all different.

Believe it or not, no. I try to stay away from chain restaurants, and the closest Hooters is about 5 miles away anyway. There are dozens of closer places to get wings.

5 miles away? Really that can't be the reason you've never tried Hooters.

As Paul Harvey used to say "And now the rest of the story". Which probably has more to do with the atmosphere than the distance.

I have no problem with the concept, and if we were out of town, I'd go - that's the only time we go to chains. There are hundreds of restaurants within 10 miles of my home. Driving home from visiting family yesterday, one of my kids needed a bathroom break, so DH ran her into an Olive Garden. I joked that was probably the first time he ever entered one.

I just checked, the closest Hooters is 6.3 miles away. According to google maps, there are 69 restaurants within 2 miles of my house.

This! Nothing better after over consuming booze and dancing. They aren't the best ever, but with the new sauce availability I had in October they are a better than they were. Still one of the better late night options.

Agree with you on chains, I much prefer hometown/independent restaurants. Many people think BWW's are great. They are ok same as hooters.

We have better here also. Supporting local owners is way,way better.

Hooters breads their wings?

This says they are just fried (no carb): http://www.myfitnesspal.com/food/calories/3688739

Are you talking about wings or boneless tender things?

That link leads you to the nutritional data for their naked wings, not their standard wings. This is what I'm used to seeing in the Midwest. All wings come breaded, but some places offer a "naked" (unbreaded) option.

Wings on Gem last week seemed a bit different than used to on NCL ships. A light breading on them. 3 or 4 different sauce types - Buffalo, Thai Chili, can't recall others.

Thought reuben was great. Artichoke dip actually improved from prior years.
