Unused onboard credit

I have read that if you set up your account as "cash" you can cash in your OBC in the casino without the fee. I have over $1400 in OBC and would rather not carry cash when I can get it on the ship. I want my sea pass account to then goto cc for double points on my RC visa for Bingo, excursion, etc.

Can someone help me out with this? In the pass I would just use up OBC until last day then cash out. I would loose the opportunity of double points on RC visa.

If I understand your intention correctly...this is what you should do. Initially set up your onboard account as cash as you indicated. Withdraw your OBC at the casino without a 5% fee since it's a cash account. This part seems to be inconsistent across ships/sail dates -- if they don't allow a direct cash withdrawal, get vouchers for the slot machines (any denominations you want). Maximum $500 per day in my experience (so you'll need a minimum of 3 days to withdraw all your OBC).

Insert your non-cashable slot vouchers into a slot machine, and hit the cash out button without playing if you don't want to play. Take your cash vouchers back to the casino cashier, get your greenbacks.

Your cash account will still allow you to go $500 into the hole before they want you to put cash onto your account. Of course, you'll simply add your RC Visa onto your account after your OBC is withdrawn. So you'll have your OBC without a 5% fee and onboard charges will go onto your CC for double points.

Thanks for the help.

No matter how many cruises I have been on I always learn something new from CC. I did not know about the $500 max limit either. I am glad that I don't need to bring a lot of cash.

So my non-refundable RC OBC ($200) will not be cashed out correct?

Which is fine because I plan on spending that amount on board at speciality restaurant for 5, soda packages and character breakfast reservation the first day. So that still leaves me a minimum of 2 days of withdrawals, if MIL and DD don't do bingo before then.

Ok so here is another question about OBC to add to the mix... We will be purchasing OBC with RCI Visa points before cruising. I know that this is refundable OBC that will go back on my credit card if unused.... My question is does it go back to my card in $$ or points?

It will go back as a credit ($$) to whichever card you use when you check in. If you use the RCL Visa card double points will be deducted in the amount of the refund that goes back onto the card.

...unless you take it in cash, which we did on Navigator with our RCI Visa OBC. :)

OBC from the cruise line is usually non-refundable. This includes OBC from booking on board, OBC as a booking perk, OBC from shareholder benefit, OBC from group booking GAP points, etc.

How about obc received from transferring RC Visa points?

Edited.....Ok, should have finished reading before posting!
