Did Carnival start the Glory drydock too early?

It also says it will be down 2 cruises post dry dock also.

This was the notice

In preparation for the new Waterworks, the forward pool, whirlpool and water slide are currently out of service now through March 25. Waterworks will be completed post dry dock. Please note,*this is the forward pool and whirlpool on deck 10 and will not affect food service or deck parties that are on Lido deck 9. While under construction, the mid ship pool, aft pool and whirlpools are open for guest use.

You only need to look at the live webcams on Glory now (part way thru a cruise and another cruise next week before dry dock starts) to see what a mess Lido deck & deck 10 is at the moment in the mid-ship area, like a building site. Very surprised they would make such a mess of one of the main focal points of the ship during actual cruises. I've accepted now we won't have any waterworks for our cruise, but I sincerely hope they at least take down those horrid barricades and canvas screens in time for when we sail.

Here's the link if you wanna see for yourselves, you should be able to get the Aft webcam of the glory from here:

Our family of 5 is on our first cruise on 3/18. We just booked our two balcony cabins less than 60 days ago, and there was no mention of possible continued construction during the cruise. Two teen boys will be VERY disappointed! To spend this much money to walk into that mess for Spring Break is unacceptable!!

Doesn't sound good. Read post #51.

Not good at all!

Like Bases, I've resolved there will likely be construction during our cruise and some amenities will be unavailable. I've also fore-warned my boys to limit some disappointment. It is what it is and we'll make the best of it!

That said, I was on the phone yesterday with three different agents. I voiced my concerns to emphasize there was no notice of a cruise less than what was advertised and booked. Even with the March 25th official completion date noted, two of the three agents quoted that waterworks and all construction would be complete by the time of our sailing!

I'm still hopeful! Trying not to let the possibilities interfere with our excitement. Again, it is what it is...

I also posted this in the other thread:

That's on old pic from when they first started I believe. Seems like it was posted somewhere in another thread as it looks very familiar. The Aft webcam has been "Down for maintenance" for a while now. At least it is whenever I check it. Anyway, I feel bad for those with the affected cruises and hope it's done in time for yours. But I don't see them removing the barricades until construction is done. It would be a safety hazard otherwise. They need to contain any debris and keep people from entering. Fingers crossed for you.

For what it's worth, After this notice was posted, someone asked John Heald and he said that the ship would come out of dry dock completely ready to go and sorry for the confusion. I guess we'll see if that's true.

Some people ask why someone would use the vacation guarantee...this seems to me to be a perfect example (IF it impacted your cruise). I'm sure you could also find folks that perhaps had a low deck room, attended a lot of trivia, bingo, and activities - without spending time on deck. They might not have even noticed that their were issues while being on the same cruise. Those scheduled on the after dry dock cruises might want to read the vacation guarantee.

I'd be very upset. We did Freedom several years ago the last cruise prior to a drydock and there was some carpet staging and some actual carpet installation being done in a few areas but it never impacted the performance and features of the ship. It was more along the lines of 'Look, new carpet since yesterday!' I remember seeing workmen but never heard any meaningful noise nor do I recall any facility being closed. THAT was almost fun (like, yipee, new stuff). What folks are experiencing on the Glory, completely unacceptable.

I would hope he is right but time will tell. More than once though he states what his beards tell him to say and finds himself under the old bus.

Hope it is not the case this time.

I wonder if they are going to do this for all future drydocks for conquest class ships? Then you have Elation's upcoming month long drydock so hard telling what will happen with her.

If they did that knowledgable cruisers would avoid two weeks before and two weeks after like the plague.

FYI- I got off the ship Saturday 03/25 then the Glory went into dry dock. My parents are Platinum and I am 4 days from Platinum. This was without a doubt a total debacle of a cruise. All the horror stories are true. John Held was on the Glory for his bloggers cruise on 01/28-02/04 and 02/04-02/11. I mentioned to Carnival Corp today on the phone that I know John Heald was on the Glory on these dates and none of his videos showed any of the construction and mess that we had to deal with? I have complained only one other time to carnival about air quality on a cruise but this was far and beyond a minor complaint I have video and pictures of the mess that was all over during port days. We stay on the ship to relax and that is our vacation. We did not have any relaxing moments. You had to yell your drink order to the bartenters at the redfrog and in the atrium. I thought I was going to go right out of my mind with all the air hammering going on. There was reduced wait staff around the pool which made the pool bars super busy. In The casino it took 45 min to and hour to get a drink after it was ordered. The last k of water slide had the hot tubs full of little people. The pool bar by the 24 hour pizza was never open late at night when we went for pizza. There was nowhere to get a drink late at night on the upper deck. That was truely bizzar to me. The amount of work being done while we were on that ship was unacceptable and I cannot believe that Carnival made a conscious decision to make thousands of customers vacation experience sub par. I have grown to expect to much more from Carnival.

Wow, I would have been very upset also. I am generally a Carnival "cheerleader" but I would have rather been stuck on the Triumph "poop" cruise instead of this one. At least the fire and resulting chaos was unintentional and there was no way to warn the guests prior to cruising and is more forgivable to me. This was an intentional disruption with no notice prior to boarding for the vacationers, the noise, lack of water park for the children....just no. I would have definitely invoked the vacation guarantee and turned right around and got back off the ship before it even left the home port.

Others have posted on here that the construction started on the first day of the 2-11 sailing so the construction would not have been going on while John Heald was on the ship.
