Wearing dress shorts in MDR on Adventure of the Seas

Recommended Posts

Bottom line.. IF you have to ask if shorts are appropriate in the dinning room, YOU ALREADY KNOW the answer is no. For us frequent cruisers, we know how to dress appropriate for any occasion.

Why wouldn't you want to fix yourself up a bit AND dress the part. You may be on vacation but that's not an excuse to look lazy.

Thats how we think but we don't let other people's attire bother us either.

Just got off Grandeur. We only ate in the MDR twice, a nice shirt and long pants. Dress shirt and tie on formal night.

One table (not formal night) had two adults, one late teen/early 20s male, and one younger male. All males had shorts on. It just looked strange and out of place.

Didn't bother me, but also I did not have a good impression of the group.

Neither of these should be acceptable for MDR no matter what gender you are or identify with!!!!

Re: "Neither should be acceptable for MDR". So, why are they "not acceptable" for MDR? I'm old, and don't understand.

I've seen worse on PAX in "proper attire".

Enjoy your next cruise.

Obviously, dress codes have become a thing of the past, and I miss them. But "it is what it is."

However, I would like for Royal to clarify dress terms to those who do not know the difference between "casual" and "bum" or "disreputable." Grubby looking shorts and t-shirts with cute (or offensive) messages isn't "casual" attire; that constitutes slob attire.

We do too!

But "it is what it is."

But we're not yet quite willing to go this far as far as dress codes go.

Can you help us out with definitions of your terms?

Having trouble posting pics from the ship, but it was asked in our roll call this week about the Cruise Compass language.

Looking at them now, night one has no mention of no shorts in the MDR.

Night two is formal (tonight), and it does say "no shorts allowed in the dining room at dinner."

Day three (tomorrow), like night one, does not have any "no shorts" language.

We haven't gone to the MDR either night so I can't tell you whether the "no shorts" language was enforced tonight.
