brywood Posted September 6, 2017 #1 Share Posted September 6, 2017 Itinerary states 7a - 5p in Cozumel Port. Does this mean we should be able to depart the ship right at 7am if we so choose? Also, safe bet to be back on board well before 5pm.....4p to be safe?
Rare Keith1010 Posted September 6, 2017 #2 Share Posted September 6, 2017 It depends. I would say you will be off the ship sometime between 7:30 AM and 8:00 AM. If you are docked normal time to be back on board is 30 minutes before departure which would be 4:30 PM. I never like to cut it that close and if you are taking local transportation have a big pad should the vehicle break down you you get into a major traffic jam. Also, safe bet to be back on board well before 5pm.....4p to be safe? It usually takes about 30 minutes to be cleared at a Caribbean port. I'd also plan to be back about an hour before all abourd time, which might be 30 minutes before scheduled departure.
easyboy Posted September 6, 2017 #4 Share Posted September 6, 2017 There will be a notice for the disembark and all aboard time. Sent from my iPad using Forums
paul929207 Posted September 6, 2017 #5 Share Posted September 6, 2017 Ships are usually good about arriving on time. It then can take a little while for local authorities to clear the ship and allow passengers to get off. This usually take 30 to 60 minutes. Krazy Kruizers Posted September 6, 2017 #6 Share Posted September 6, 2017 Your daily program, which you get the evening before, will have the All Aboard time listed on it. We like to get back to the port at least an hour before the ship sails. If we are going ashore on our own, we like to let the crowds who are going on ship excursions get off ahead of us. It can be a mob scene at the gangway once the ship is cleared by the local authorities.

Cozumel is notorious for pier runners. 🍸🍺🍻🍾. Must be the booze
brywood Posted September 7, 2017 Author #8 Share Posted September 7, 2017 thanks for the info.; and yes I did watch the you tube videos of the pier runners...pretty funny. No way in the world would that happen to me; my motto is if you are on time, your late.
Pudgesmom Posted September 8, 2017 #9 Share Posted September 8, 2017 Make sure to set your watch to ship time, local time is occasionally different.
cb at sea Posted September 9, 2017 #10 Share Posted September 9, 2017 You need to be back ON the ship 30 mins. prior to sail away.
smm0218 Posted September 9, 2017 #11 Share Posted September 9, 2017 No experience with it but I'm guessing with tendering you need to be back even a little sooner?
Schoifmom Posted September 9, 2017 #12 Share Posted September 9, 2017 No experience with it but I'm guessing with tendering you need to be back even a little sooner? Coz is not a tender port for most (all?) lines. Sent from my iPad using Forums
Rare Keith1010 Posted September 10, 2017 #13 Share Posted September 10, 2017 Once again it is 30 minutes for all ships. If there is a tender (yes if there are seven or so ships in port) one ore more might have a tender the cruise line will clearly post when the last tender leaves Cozumel to go back to the ship. Clarea Posted September 10, 2017 #14 Share Posted September 10, 2017 If you use your phone as a clock, be careful it does not get automatically reset to local time. Change the settings on the phone to manual time setting.
Sauer-kraut Posted September 10, 2017 #15 Share Posted September 10, 2017 Just a tip: Get a cheap battery watch before you leave. Set it to SHIP TIME (sometimes it will be different from local port time). That way you don't have to convert time and you will be be on board at the proper time. I can usually find a watch for under $10 and it becomes my vacation watch. I'm not upset should it get lost or damaged on vacation.
sanger727 Posted September 12, 2017 #16 Share Posted September 12, 2017 On my last cruise they were announcing that you could disembark very close to the scheduled arrival time. I wouldn't plan on meeting a tour sooner than 45-60 min just in case of a hiccup but you can likely get off close to the listed time. We had one port with a hiccup and it took 45 minutes before they started letting anyone off so quite a line built up. Yes, all aboard is 30 minutes till be we are pretty much always onboard at least 60 minutes early and preferably within walking distance of the port 90 minutes early. Like to give ourselves plenty of time in case of traffic or car break down. Sent from my iPhone using Forums
