Grand Turk port is open and ready to receive guests!!! They are also working with the community to assist with supplies to the area. Some areas are hit harder than others!!

WOW!! Hopefully Jack and Family (and Topher) are good then! Did not expect such good news. Wish we were going next week to help them get back on their feet but that's not on our itinerary.

I was looking at the webcam from NCL SKY which is in St. Martin right now.....not really anyone around, but the dock/infrastructure seem intact at least from what small view it is.

Grand Turk got very lucky in that there was very little damage to the cruise ship terminal. I guess the rest of the island received minimal damage as well? Double check if you have an independent excursion or golf cart booked...

However exciting cruising to Canada might be, I don't want to be driving to Baltimore from CANADA only to be cruising back home. There are no palm trees in Canada.#Happydance!!

are you all sure Jack's Shack made it? Carnival's part is all cement and apparently less damaged. Carnival has the funds to rebuild fast, however they do not own Jack's

Jack posted on Facebook a couple of days ago that they all made it through - and Topher is fine! Didn't say if the shack is still there.

here's a very recent video of Grand Turk via plane.

 

you can see Carnival's terminal/dock at 5:25 in the video and it shows the nearby area in excellent condition, especially as compared to other parts of GT.

 

homes on GT suffered damage from roofs to blown out windows. the video shows much of that in detail. pause the video to see damages better as the video motion along with it being shot from a plane makes it hard to see each home/damage.

In another post, he said that there was damage but it was not destroyed! YEA!!! Looking forward to being back there relaxing, eating some jerk chicken, and playing with Topher as soon as we can!!

You wouldn't be cruising to Canada anyway. The last cruise did in order to avoid the hurricane. That is, unless another hurricane pops up.

Is it cool in Canada? Because I would love to go to Canada if it's less than 90° and 95% humidity. I'm tired of heat and humidity, and palm trees have never been known for their shade factor. :D

So glad to hear that Topher and his family are well! Jack's Shack is one of my favorite places in the Caribbean. I was worried about them.
