soapbxking Posted September 12, 2017 #1 Share Posted September 12, 2017 Grand Turk port is open and ready to receive guests!!! They are also working with the community to assist with supplies to the area. Some areas are hit harder than others!! This is good news for Eastern Caribbean Cruisers!!

Wish we were going next week to help them get back on their feet but that's not on our itinerary.
cruizinisthebest Posted September 12, 2017 #5 Share Posted September 12, 2017 It's good news for the people that live and work there! It will take some other islands more time but wishing them all the best. We will be back in GT next year.

elcuchio24 Posted September 12, 2017 #8 Share Posted September 12, 2017 I was looking at the webcam from NCL SKY which is in St. Martin right now.....not really anyone around, but the dock/infrastructure seem intact at least from what small view it is. bunnyette Posted September 12, 2017 #11 Share Posted September 12, 2017 Grand Turk got very lucky in that there was very little damage to the cruise ship terminal. I guess the rest of the island received minimal damage as well? Double check if you have an independent excursion or golf cart booked...
Luv2Cruze4 Posted September 12, 2017 #12 Share Posted September 12, 2017 So excited!!! However exciting cruising to Canada might be, I don't want to be driving to Baltimore from CANADA only to be cruising back home. There are no palm trees in Canada.#Happydance!! coevan Posted September 12, 2017 #16 Share Posted September 12, 2017 are you all sure Jack's Shack made it? Carnival's part is all cement and apparently less damaged. Carnival has the funds to rebuild fast, however they do not own Jack's

CA_Cruzing Posted September 12, 2017 #21 Share Posted September 12, 2017 bunnyette... was told that some areas are better than others, some received lots of damage and some are semi ok. terminal was lucky!! here's a very recent video of Grand Turk via plane. you can see Carnival's terminal/dock at 5:25 in the video and it shows the nearby area in excellent condition, especially as compared to other parts of GT. homes on GT suffered damage from roofs to blown out windows. the video shows much of that in detail. pause the video to see damages better as the video motion along with it being shot from a plane makes it hard to see each home/damage. https://lovinturksandcaicos.com/news/turks-and-caicos/watch-this-new-aerial-video-gives-a-clear-view-of-grand-turk

Didn't say if the shack is still there. In another post, he said that there was damage but it was not destroyed! YEA!!! There are no palm trees in Canada.#Happydance!! You wouldn't be cruising to Canada anyway. The last cruise did in order to avoid the hurricane. That is, unless another hurricane pops up. There are no palm trees in Canada.#Happydance!! Is it cool in Canada? Because I would love to go to Canada if it's less than 90° and 95% humidity. I'm tired of heat and humidity, and palm trees have never been known for their shade factor. :D
SummerXU Posted September 12, 2017 #25 Share Posted September 12, 2017 So glad to hear that Topher and his family are well! Jack's Shack is one of my favorite places in the Caribbean. I was worried about them.
