A Norwegian restaurant. It's like they're "Embarrassed To Be A Norwegian" We had some passable potato pancakes at breakfast for a few days, but no herring, no lutefisk. How hard would it be to whip up a proper cold board?

I was not a fan of the Moderno, but if they had some Norwegian reindeer meat on a stick...? Could have been a game changer. Pickled fish in a cream sauce? Perfection!

That would be pickled herring in cream sauce--------delish.

From what I have heard talking to people on MSC the lines are so very different it would be hard to compare them. For the most part I have heard MSC has beautiful ships but it pretty much stops there. People have complained about the service and the overall attitude is more like Costa. For those how like Costa that is great, for those who prefer the typical mass marketed lines, MSC doesn't work.

The Yacht Club defenitely works for me.

How about a New York style Deli? I'd love to have a good corned beef sandwich with a half sour pickle.

Me too and O'Sheehans doesn't cut it for us when it comes to corn beef or Rueben sandwiches. The only problem I am thinking the OP is talking a sur charge restaurant and a NY Deli wouldn't work too well I don't think.

I personally hate Moderno and would love to see it go away fleet wide. I don't like the whole endless food parade because I eat too much.

Sent from my SM-G930T using Forums mobile app

the first two times i ate at moderno, i tried to eat everythign and felt gross.

now im selective. i eat a TON at the salad bar as its really good. then when im ready for the meat, i tell the waiter that all i want is lamb chops and to keep them coming. i polish off 6 of them and still feel gross but its a much happier gross. lol that's my fave meat item, so i dont waste stomach space with other meats that while good, arent what i really want.

Both cause severe gastro-intestinal issues and the "Stinging Ring".

But that is not the same as Noro and there are a lot of people who love the Indian food. It isn't for me, yet it is gaining in popularity.

Fastpitchdad: I too would love a real Spanish restaurant but they tried it, including tapas on the Jewel at the beginning, it was a total failure. The Sun does have later afternoon tapas, again, a failure. Of course I will add, they are not the best tapas in the world.

For those who keep saying things like a non smoking casino or more activities, I think the OP meant a restaurant versus restaurant. I do think the OP also needed to give an option "keep Modrno's" Obviously he/she has an agenda to push. I know there are some who do not like Modrno's. I don't care for Tappayaki's either but do not want to see it replaced.

Not so much an agenda as much as saying "keep things exactly as they are!" doesn't generate any discussion. Personally I like Modernos and wouldn't miss La Cucina at all, but earlier threads had noted that NCL is planning to phase out Modernos (it's not on the Bliss at all) so that seems to be an obvious starting point for a restaurant replacement.

Bringing up casino smoke in a thread about restaurants? Now that's pushing an agenda.

I agree. I obviously misunderstood what you were getting at. I will add, I only saw one reference to eliminating Moderos. that was a few weeks ago. Yes, I realize the Bliss will not have one. I am hoping it isn't fleet wide, so intend to ask when we sail in a few weeks. This is what is so good about M&Gs, you have an opportunity to talk with those who know what is happening. Of course once in awhile the hotel director or who ever is leading the Q&A session isn't straight forward, can not comment or are just plan rude. We have had a couple of those, not many I will add. Of course I have seen passengers ask some rude questions at the M&Gs as well.

Can they make good barbeque on a ship? I have my doubts.

Otherwise, I'd say Mexican / Latin American.

There are so many land restaurants that can't do good barbecue, I can't see a ship even coming close.

Bliss is going to have Q Texas Smokehouse

Sure that is going to go over like a lead balloon to those that know barbecue and especially those that know Texas barbecue. Texans are very protective on correctly done barbecue

on my first cruise in 2009, on the Gem, they had a Mexican restaurant that was very good, the service charge was 10 dollars and really don't know why they got rid of it but then again the Asian restaurant back then had more choices and better food...

The old Mexican restaurant and the old menu at the Asian were some of our favorites next to Cagney's on the Gem.

I vote for something like Food Republic only make it a true sports bar.

Charge for the food (which will need to more upscale than O'Sheehan's), craft beers and show all of the sports that are often begged for to be shown (and often do not have available) in bars on the ships. Especially when there are championship games on, though there is always some type of sport that people want to watch. It would free up the other bars for other cruisers that are not sports fans.

This would be for the large amount of sports fans worldwide so there will always be customers.

They would make a mint.

JMHO. :)

This would be great. But will also have them admit that they can get more than 2 tv stations on the ship for non-special occasions and not just cricket all the time. Hahaha

sports bar would be great: Asian: we love the Asian restaurant on the Pearl but as for Mexican, a good one would be great but I can't say we ever thought any of them on a cruise ship was great or even really good. I guess it depends on where you have been raised and how well you know Mexican food. Of course food is very subjective as we all know.

My personal vote would be for Mediterranean cuisine ~ Greek, Lebanese, Turkish, etc! They could even have a bit of "Zorba the Greek" music and dancing! I have never met anyone who doesn't like some aspect of eastern Mediterranean cuisine.

I would love a Spanish Restaurant with Tapas in the afternoon/early evening and a formal dinner later.
They have a Tapas restaurant on the NCL Sun ~ Las Ramblas. It's free. Not a huge selection to choose from, though.

I would love that...The salad bar could become a Mezze section. If they went just a bit west with some cuisine choices they could add some Moroccan tangines.
