Rare crusin7 Posted February 5, 2018 Author #251 Share Posted February 5, 2018 Today we are in Bay of Islands, New Zealand. It is foggy when we anchor. This is reminding me of home! I do the Discover Russell excursion. I discover that Russell is close but far away. We take a 20 minute tender. Get on a bus and then a ferry. It is a cute and picturesque town. Our guide is nice but mediocre. The best part is we stop for a croissant at a coffee house. Fresh from Paris! Tomorrow is a National Holiday, Waitangi Day. It commemorates the signing of a treaty in 1840. It is their Founding document. That meant loads of people and cars getting from the ferry back to the tenders. spindrift Posted February 7, 2018 #270 Share Posted February 7, 2018 You provided one of the best report of any blog I have followed. Thank you so much. I had no idea you were getting off so soon. Regent needs to keep you all on board so you can continue the excellent summary of a portion of the world cruise. I wish you both the best of health and a quick return to "Cruise Critic." Rare crusin7 Posted February 16, 2018 Author #275 Share Posted February 16, 2018 Here is the latest medical update on my husband. He had a fractured femur on a previous total hip replacement/fractured femur. Because it was fixated and had an artificial stem the pain was bearable. (I would have been on a morphine drip). Because his surgery was complicated we were sent to L.A. to see a specialist the day after arriving home from New Zealand. He spent 6 days in the hospital before having a revision total hip. I was a basket case!! The LA skies are beautiful after surgery He was discharged on the second postoperative day! We got home last night. Jim is doing great, walking with a walker. It sure beats the wheelchair! Thank you all for following the blog and for your wonderful comments. Rachael, getting through Auckland airport was a breeze...actually a delight!
