Absolutely correct about casino open but no trivia.Still got Bingo.Culinary classes stopped.

I don’t see any hand washing stations in Terrace for staff. So they bring me my teapot, touch the same handle. They pick it up and so on and so on.

Just told gastrointestinal problem.I guess they are unable to test certain body fluids to check what the virus is.

It doesnt matter really as the procedure is the same for any gastric virus in this situation.

Today each tender was ‘santised’ after passengers lefpeft before anyone embarked..

What is annoying me as this was foreseen. We complained about passengers lack of hand washing, use of sanitisers etc.when we arrived.

The gym still is open and the dumbbells are used by anyone. Not cleaned.

I have stopped using the gym, pool too.Never used the jacuzzi.

One thing that I find crazy is the swipe in and out from the the ship.

More often than not the crew member takes your card and then hands it back rather than let you scan it yourself.

How many germs are they picking up and passing on in this way?

Of course this applies to anyone requiring your card.

I imagine some people might be insulted, but in this case I would have no problem with a card “bath” being set up before or after handing them off to security.

I have just returned from a cruise on another line. Security on this ship never touched the card, everybody swiped their own. A much better system!

+1. I always try to hold on to mine.

Noro is a crap shoot. We spent 26 days on marina in December with no issues. Food was excellent. Same procedures in place. A flawless cruise

I agree that hand sanitizing by passengers on o is inconsistent at best.

Passengers use a key card touch pad on Viking when getting on and off the ship, no one else handles. They have sinks at the entrance to the eateries, I’ve seen very few people use them.

But the World Cafe is self serve.

The hand sanitizers are not effective against Noro, passengers must wash thoroughly hands with soap and water.

"Self serve" on a cruise ship is a deal breaker for me.

We are on Marina at the moment and I wrote on my half cruise comments sheet that I was disappointed that hardly anyone uses hand sanitizers, public areas or wipes (in the gym).On all the other cruise lines that we have been on,there is always a member of staff prompting people to do so.I was told that this company treats adults like adults and expects them to do it themselves.Well clearly they are not.Now what?? No salt and pepper pots, paper menus etc etc..and people still not taking any precautions that may have some effect.

Too bad !!! Just heard that the Marina has many people sick on the ship. We will be boarding On Feb 3. What's your take.??

Seabourn uses a scanning system....pax holds card wallet up, security uses a wand to scan....no need to even take your card out of the card wallet. Makes for easier tendering too.

For the life of me, I CANNOT understand why people DO NOT practice hand hygiene and wash their hands after using the toilet, blowing their nose, before eating, and randomly during the day etc.

Oceania has the same technology, a hand held scanner. I don’t know why they want to take it out of your hand. Perhaps too many people move their cards around.

Part of the security protocol on Oceania is a facial recognition. When they scan your card, and are holding your card in hand, your picture pops up on screen. Security is supposed to verify a match.

Just walking by , with card in wallet, might not be as secure. If your face doesn’t match, you have the room key in your possession. On O, they have it in their possession!

This thread has posts from people currently onboard. I think their posts are the best information you are going to get.

Yes, all cruise lines check the photo at security. The only difference is who puts the card against the reader.

Finally received notification from Oceania. Anyone on the 3 feb cruise will have seen this, but FYI for others who might be interested.

Embarkation will be delayed - the note indicates named suites boarding at 1PM rather than 11AM. (My note doesn't indicate the other times, but I'm in an OC suite, and the notes might be customized?)

Passengers with Oceania travel (flights, transfers, pre-cruise) will be directed to the Marina Lounge for checkin at their actual arrival time, where they must wait until the cleaning is completed. (Refreshments provided.)

For other passengers, O suggests dropping luggage and exploring Papeete until boarding time.

Yesterday we were notified that the incidence of ‘gastric’ problems had reduced ‘drastically’.We cannot see us getting back to normal before we disembark as the deep clean will follow in Papeete. The dining rooms, public rooms and tenders are already being ‘fumigated’ as we call it.Sprayed with some chemicals and steam cleaned.

All outside gams still being used.Golf, ping pong, tennis and croquet. No one is cleaning them after use...

Anyone embarking in Papeete, please bear with them.It is so much better to get on late than to go through this..

Meanwhile life goes on and we have had two beautiful days in Fakarava and Rangiroa...Today is Bora Bora.

Thank you for your info. So helpful.. We got notice today from the cruise line telling us much of what you said. So now we have to figure out where to collapse after a night on Tahiti Air. Landing early in the a.m.

Enjoy what you can.! Thanks.

The restaurants and tenders are all being steam/chemically cleaned.

Suddenly all the waters by the disembarkation platform are covered. You are not allowed to take one yourself. Also tender tickets are now disposable (that caught out a few selfish people who store them up and use them to get early tenders)!

Not sure why they have left this so long, surely if they are following any code of practice for this,it should have been brought in earlier...

Disappointed yesterday to be given a dirty glass,a teacup with a dried rim of coffee inside, milk jug that clearly had old milk on,all curdled and a tablecloth that was only fit for polishing the floor!

I do try had see things positive but it’s wearing thin now..

Still we have continual, non cleaning use of umbrellas, slot machines and outdoor games.Just don’t understand it..

Things are slacking as time goes on and the staff are obviously miserable. Its good to be able to leave the ship daytime...

So much for our first small, luxury cruise on Saturday. Hope you are feeling well.

I see you posting quite a bit. Sorry to hear about the situation. We are on the same cruise on Feb. 25th.

I would not like to start a new thread but have a parallel question It does sound like many of the cruisers are in their cabins.

How fast is wifi with the other activities curtailed?

Am curious on your access to certain sites say CNN or travel sites. How is the speed?

I don’t have those answers. Others may reply. We board on Saturday. The ship will be cleaner than ever.
