Can you stay on the ship if you are on a b2b. In the same cabin or not.

Depends on the ship, port, authorities, moods, etc. For example, we were able to stay onboard Adventure between B2B cruises last week, but every other time on Adventure we had to get off the ship.

I've had mixed experiences of B2B.

Sometimes had to clock out and then clock back once ship emptied, sometimes just turned up with seapass card to a lounge and swapped it for the new one.

It's a mystery, it really is!

Last year on the Adventure we waited in a lounge expecting to have to walk off, see immigration, and the walk back on. As it turned out the crew member in charge said she got a call, that immigration didn't want to see us. They gave us our new cards and that was all. Had a nice lunch in the mdr for b2b passengers.

They have all B2B cruisers at a location on the ship, wait 30-60 min then they will usually walk you off the ship for few minutes to get zero count. Then back on and will have access to your cabin when others have to wait until after 1pm. Some have said they haven't had to get off but I have every time. Last 6 years I did B2B's in Miami, Ft Lauderdale, Boston and Tampa..

It varies per ship. Usually pretty painless. Only once did we have to do about an hour of waiting around.

Last year on the Explorer in Seattle B2B with a TP the second leg they set up a scanner at the entrance of the Star Lounge we all scanned off the ship sat in the lounge was given out new cards drank tea or coffee with finger food when the ship has a zero count we all walked back through the entrance and scanned back on board and went to MDR for a yummy lunch with a free YES free glass of wine.

We are doing a B2B on the Anthem now. We stayed in bolaroes and the customs agent came to us.

We did a b2b this past Oct/Nov on Oasis in the same cabin (nice no need to move, etc) and we met up in Schooners, got our new cards, walked off as a group, stood around near customs, turned around walked back by a customs agent who glanced at our passports, went to the suite waiting area until boarding. We (DH and I) wre #2 and # 3 back onboard. We booked our b2b over a year out so it was easy to get the same cabin.

Today is our first day of cruise #2 on Radiance in Sydney. We were walked off, went through customs, and sat in the “waiting room” for about an hour. I’m proud to say that this was the first time I’ve ever been the first passenger on the ship. I should get a prize!😇😇😇

Our experience has been that they let you keep them but we have had an occasion where they wanted to take them.

 

We have never relinquished our old cards as we just remind them that your SeaPass Card is the only mean of verification that you have actually cruised on the ship.

They must have had a problem with this on Adventure, because they would not give us our new SeaPass cards unless we turned in our old ones. However, they did allow us to get our old SeaPass cards at Guest Services later in the evening.

We have had the same thing happen where they take them and then return them later. They say they take them so that everyone uses the "new" card and not the old card!!

I forget to ask the GSM why they do that. I suspected that it was some sort of security thing. I know the old cards will open the old room for a while, so they might have been concerned about people who had changed staterooms having access to their old stateroom.

We have taken many B2B cruises.Like someone said ,it all depends on the port.On our last cruise on the Seranade we had to turn in our old seapass after checking out between the cruises but was given it back by the conceigre

later .One thing about B2B,once you come back on board after seeing customs,you can go back to your cabin any time you want.There will be a staff member stationed near your passage way door,they will say you cant go to your room,just tell them that you are B2B and you can go in.As for getting your first seapass back when they take it ask about getting it back,if you are Crown and anchor that may be where you get it.Also there is usually a luncheon at noon in the dining room just for B2Bers.

Regardless of if you have to get off or can stay onboard, it's so nice to have a quiet ship to yourself before general boarding starts again! It's a nice feeling to watch everyone else line up to get off and go home and you chant to yourself "poor suckers! You're going home and I'm not!"

We do B2B's on the Grandeur. We meet in a specified area and are escorted off thru customs, line up, given new cards, (sometimes given new cards in specified waiting area before going thru customs) the new card has a green sticker placed on it to differentiate from old card and led back on the ship to do whatever we want.
