tx121 Posted March 28, 2018 #1 Share Posted March 28, 2018 I noticed now that most cruiselines use the electronic bingo where the cruise staff presses a button and the computer generates the numbers. I remember when they used the ping pong balls and the machine spit out the balls. They even had someone come up to the stage to verify that all the bingo balls were there. I also remember on the last day on the cruise EVERYONE played because the Jackpot MUST go and people would win thousands of dollars. Now it seems like you have to get full card Bingo within a certain amount of balls called. Usually 45 or less. In the old fashion way, yes this is possible because it is totally random and a computer is not "calling" the balls. On my recent cruise, I noticed that a lot of the Bs Is Ns and Os were called but very few Gs were called. When it came up to the 45th ball, there were only 4Gs called which meant no Jackpot Bingo was possible. And you guessed it, yes the 46th ball it was a G and the next 5 balls after. To me I hate how Bingos are fixed this way. I know people play for the fun of it and people do win $$ but I just feel that it is wrong to advertise and say you will give away thousands of dollars when they know no one will ever win the Jackpot. Its also sad to see them push and upsell even more and sell last minute Jackpot cards to upsell and make people think they can win. I wonder if the people nowadays playing are first time cruisers who get suckered into this scam. My advice--better luck of winning in the casino at the table betting on red or black on roulette.lol

Rare BostonGal35 Posted March 28, 2018 #3 Share Posted March 28, 2018 the bingo is def fixed. if i play, i only play twice. the first day, because you have a chance to have your receipt randomly pulled to play free all week. then the last day, because tehy will never give away the coverall jackpot during the week because that's what gets people in, the thrill of possibly winning. that said, ive never seen anyone on any of my sails win the coverall. deal or no deal is a scam too. people are idiots with this game tho, ive seen people have $500 or so and instead of taking the deal they really think they can beat the computer, and they then walk away with fifty cents. bam1957 Posted March 28, 2018 #4 Share Posted March 28, 2018 If you notice from my signature I have not been cruising that long and I was suckered into playing the first few cruises. I then realized that it was impossible to win that jackpot so I stopped buying the largest package and would buy the least amount. I did notice on my last cruise that it was not nearly as packed as before. I'm guessing that yes people are getting wiser to the scam. 1
Oakman58 Posted March 28, 2018 #5 Share Posted March 28, 2018 Yep, all the games involving money that are played on the ship are rigged to make money for the cruise line. Even the "skill game" of Key Master is rigged to make money. Everyone should participate in these games for the entertainment value, not potential winnings.

Oakman58 Posted March 28, 2018 #10 Share Posted March 28, 2018 FWIW I personally witnessed someone win $1,000 on the Key Master game. I didn't say you can't win at these games but they are rigged to take in a certain amount of money before it pays out. You might sit down at a slot machine and win a jackpot on your first "pull" but I can guarantee that machine is going to make money for the owner of the machine. None of those games are true random. Nikmav Posted March 28, 2018 #12 Share Posted March 28, 2018 In my opinion, any one that plays any game that is run by a computer and is expecting it to NOT be rigged is crazy. 1

fshagan Posted March 28, 2018 #14 Share Posted March 28, 2018 All gambling is rigged. Unless you're playing against other players the game is rigged so that the house wins over time. All you have to do at Bingo is look at the total prizes (even if they gave them out) and the number of cards they sell for each game at $30 or $40. They are taking in a LOT more than they are paying out.
bbryan5 Posted March 28, 2018 #15 Share Posted March 28, 2018 Sorry, I misunderstood your post. No need to be sorry, sometimes typed word is hard to interpret. I agree that slots (especially on ships) are not random. I don't even trust some of the other games to be honest.

Cyclops32 Posted March 28, 2018 #21 Share Posted March 28, 2018 Any gambling system is setup for the house to win. Be it computer controlled or something as simple as you throwing dice on a crash table. It is all based on odds. Just like every slot machine today is actually electronic. You press a button or pull the handle and the choice has already been made. The machine has picked a random number and every number is set to a certain spin setting. It can be as simple as a 1 in 1,000,000 and the number 1,000,000 is the jackpot. May numbers 1-500 are a certain losing spin combo 501-1000 another losing combo... Ect then maybe 10,001-10100 wins a small p Win. So over time the odds are set. Is it possible for two jackpots to be back to back. Yup but that would be extremely rare. All in all it is random but the odds are always for the house Sent from my SM-G955U using Forums mobile app
skeeter195 Posted March 28, 2018 #22 Share Posted March 28, 2018 There is now way that a cruise line would run the risk of being caught cheating. Random number generators(RNG) are used in slots, vp and keno games. Now the winning percentages can be set lower than land based casinos. The computer used for bingo is the same as the ping pong balls and 100 random. That being said if someone was to actually hit say the coverall in bingo in 45 balls the cruise line would probably be conducting its own internal investigation after paying out the winner(again, not paying would be bad press). So here are the odds of covering all numbers if say 1000 cards are in play 60 balls or less - 75% 55 balls or less - 9% 50 balls or less - .4% 45 balls or less - .014% or 1.4 in 10000 chance of a coverall

I can't believe the comments I hear from someone losing as to the system being fixed. commodore2010 Posted March 28, 2018 #25 Share Posted March 28, 2018 Some of you have a very loose concept of "rigged". Games are not rigged, however the rules of games are set up so that the mathematical probability of the outcome of any given play favors a win by the house. There is no need to rig a game. In fact it would be detrimental to the house to do so. The only way the house makes money is if people play. People only play when they see wins being paid. The bottom line is that money spent on gambling is purely entertainment just as much as buying a ticket to a Broadway show. If you go into any game of chance expecting that you will win youa re only fooling yourself and it has nothing to do with anything being fixed or rigged. You are being logical and some people just don't understand the statistical probabilities of each type of gambling. Besides don't you know its more fun to accuse the cruise line of "rigging" and "fraud" than it is to be educated on the topic of gambling.
