Cruise Bingo Jackpot Scam?

I noticed now that most cruiselines use the electronic bingo where the cruise staff presses a button and the computer generates the numbers. I remember when they used the ping pong balls and the machine spit out the balls. They even had someone come up to the stage to verify that all the bingo balls were there. I also remember on the last day on the cruise EVERYONE played because the Jackpot MUST go and people would win thousands of dollars. Now it seems like you have to get full card Bingo within a certain amount of balls called. Usually 45 or less. In the old fashion way, yes this is possible because it is totally random and a computer is not "calling" the balls. On my recent cruise, I noticed that a lot of the Bs Is Ns and Os were called but very few Gs were called. When it came up to the 45th ball, there were only 4Gs called which meant no Jackpot Bingo was possible. And you guessed it, yes the 46th ball it was a G and the next 5 balls after.

To me I hate how Bingos are fixed this way. I know people play for the fun of it and people do win $$ but I just feel that it is wrong to advertise and say you will give away thousands of dollars when they know no one will ever win the Jackpot. Its also sad to see them push and upsell even more and sell last minute Jackpot cards to upsell and make people think they can win.

I wonder if the people nowadays playing are first time cruisers who get suckered into this scam. My advice--better luck of winning in the casino at the table betting on red or black on roulette.lol

So what you are saying is that Royal is running a fixed game ? Do you also think they are fixing the computers that generate the spins on the casino slots? You are making a serious allegation that I doubt you have anyway of backing up.

Gamblers fallacy-

no singe outcome is influanced by a prevoiuos outcome.

neither the computer nor the ping pong balls cares what numbers were called before ,The odds of a particular letter being called are the exact same for every spin.

Now in a game like bingo where the previously called numbers are being removed from the pool of available numbers the odds will change ever so slightly because the distribution of available numbers will change.

I haven't played Bingo in a while onboard but while it would be difficult to prove any 'fixing' and also litigious if you say that without proof I would agree that advertising a final game with thousands to be won and then imposing rules that the jackpot can only be won under e.g. 45 numbers is a bit naughty unless they fully explained that before the game etc. Then you know what you're in for and can choose not to play.

To me, the jackpot should be won regardless of how many numbers are called.

A good roulette dealer can put that ball just about anywhere he wants it. Just saying...

OMG - seriously? Sign up for the chemtrail and other conspiracy theories........

What is wrong with his statement? "A good roulette dealer can put the ball just about any where he wants it". FYI....This is a fact, most experienced dealers have the same ball speed and systematically start the ball drop in the same group of numbers each spin....this results in the same consistent block of numbers being called. I look for dealers who throw a lot of the same numbers and will play at their table to take advantage of it. I am not advocating roulette as it historically is a losers game but there are tips such as this to try and tweak the odds.

I think there is a lot of speculation and jumping to far out conclusions here. Bingo is generally a suckers game, but to call this a scam is a bit out there. People willingly play even though the odds are stacked against them.

Things like this come up on the vegas forum a lot. People are missing the point. Will RCI (or any casino operator) change the rules to favor the house? Absolutely! To whatever degree the customer is willing to accept. Will RCI (or any casino operator) CHEAT to get a better take? No way!

Here's the thing you have to remember: The ONLY thing the casino needs to do to make $$$ is get you to play. They already win! Why would they jeopardize that by cheating.

No need to fix a bingo game - the odds are very much with the house on cover-all. In Colorado the games must be run by charities and I was a licensed operator. Halls are used by many charities. I asked them how often cover-all hit and they said 51 numbers hit about once a year and 52 about twice (but normally multiple players at the same time). It had been a couple of years since they had seen a hit at 48 numbers.

I quit playing Bingo on RC cause of the cost, and low payouts vs the money paid to play.

As for the numbers to win the jackpot, about 10 yrs ago I did win the jackpot on the 2nd to last day with just 44 numbers called...a lot of people were a bit unhappy because they would only play the last day for the big jackpot.

Every ship I’ve been on gave away the jackpot. They had a certain ball limits to win the jackpot but if it wasn’t won on day 1, it rolled over to the next session. But on the last day...The ball limits came off and the game was played till someone won.

This.

Heads or tails is 50/50. If you flip a coin 100 times, and all 100 times it comes up Heads, the odds of a Tails on the 101 flip is ........ 50/50

If you want to make a claim about unfair in the casino, look at the blackjack table.

For the small amount table, the min bet is $5 on the normal, plus $1 on the side game.

They pay 6 to 5 on blackjack.

For a $5 bet, 6 to 5 payout is $7.20. They pay $7.

So every blackjack, they short the player by 20 cents.

Not sure what math you're using, but 6:5 is just that...$6 won for $5 bet.

Winning the jackpot with 45 or less numbers is only for the first game they play for the jackpot. The next time is 46 balls to win, then 47 etc. the jackpot is eventually won if not before but at least on the last game of the cruise and the jackpot grows each time no one wins it. I won it on the last game on Oasis a couple of years ago and won $3,000. If I had won it on the first game, the 45 ball game, it was about $1,500 if I remember correctly.

Do you think RC needs to fix bingo to make money? Have you seen their drink prices?!? JK. OK I just went back on Anthem earlier this month and was seriously annoyed at the 6 to 5 BlackJack odds they put on their low limit table instead of the usual 3 to 2. I must've played two shoes and never noticed until I got my first BlackJack. I stopped the dealer and told her she shorted me on the payout. She then pointed to the odds written on the table. It shouldn't have bothered me as much as it did, but once I discovered that, I was not happy and left. I was told the $25 and $50 tables have the regular odds, but NONE of them were even open.

I find casino cruise dealers very charismatic and entertaining. I think they need to make it fun while they take your money. But if you're sailing with RC soon, watch out for those tables. They must've been introduced sometime in the last year, since I sailed back in 2017 and it was still 3 to 2. That is all, just thought I'd share.
