change of internet benefit for diamond and diamond plus

Recommended Posts

Have you done that recently? The last time we cruised, it cost me $6 to do that after applying my coupon because the daily price of the unlimited had gone up.

As a D+, did it last week Allure for the Surf. Used my wife 2 x 24 hrs for 2 & 3rd day, and used my D+ allowance of $45.99 for the last 4 days and it cost me a total of $18. The downside is that the credit did not appear automatically prior to changing the buy screen. Had to go 3 times to Guest Services to get the credits.

It is NOT unsustainable!

They are just getting more and more freaking greedy!

yes, and they are building way too many monster ships. The cost of THAT is unsustainable. Far easier, though, to penalize customers who were, and still are, encouraged to rack up C&A points to achieve these “unsustainable” benefits.

Sorry but you have no idea what you are talking about. It is absolutely unsustainable and it isn’t like they have high profit margins so the greed part is silly. They have to make changes like any other company. Change happens all the time. Some just can’t deal with it.

Disappointing not to have the Internet perk the same way any longer. We had already begun to cruise other lines and experience something new. We have a long way to go to get to our next loyalty level which would be Pinnacle.

Changing a perk won't make us stop cruising Royal, but it will make us look at other lines to cruise given all things equal. Maybe that's what they want. More room for newbie cruisers.

There has been blow back and RCL decided forgo the decision and retain the present benefits. The discount on the new Voom purchase screen did not come off automatically as it did before and I had to got to Guest Service 3 times to have it restored. My understanding from GS is that the new screen was to adapt to the so called new internet benefits.

There are just too many Diamond and up member on many cruises. It would have helped if they had been able to look into the future when the program was set up. But, that would have been a challenge. So, now they have all of these "top tier" members who don't want to lose benefits. I understand - it took us over 20 years to finally get to Diamond!

Maybe they could change it like the hotel business does so that, if you don't travel as much, your status drops? I was at the top tier with Hilton for many years and now, I'm back to entry level as I don't travel for business very much like I used to. In the cruise business, one can not cruise for a decade and their status remains the same. I'm not suggesting this - but the current system is indeed unsustainable and RCI knows it.

They also know that it is a balancing act as they keep us coming back while providing benefits that make sense from a business point-of-view.

Ps. My laptop was running quite slow on Allure as compared with prior cruises. Don't know if they are able to identify those Paxs getting discounts, therefore, slowing the speed accordingly.

We have included VOOM on Harmony and it’s terrible. Doesn’t work in our cabin. About the only place to get good strength and consistent signal is in the Promenade (Boots and Bonnet).

BS!

They are turning more and more profit every quater...the biggest profits ever!

So your facts are fake!

They could just stop giving status away forever and to everybody in the household....much easier and fair than taking achivements away from pax that earned it!

Well said. Finally some real news. They have the highest profitability in their history currently.

Just returned from the Rhapsody today and had our free days. The person in the Diamond Lounge said that RCI was going to make the change but decided not to do so.

She did say, however, that something will have to be done about benefits in general as there simply too many Diamond and up members now. (Ironically, our cruise had only 65 due to many first-timers on board. It was fun watching them!)

I noted that they need to be careful what they change as what, at least somewhat, keeps us coming back is the status that it took us so long to gain. If some of that is lost, the competition may look more appealing.

I think if Royal was really concerned about the overcrowding in the lounges then they would give 5 drinks on the seapass instead of just 3. Why would someone (I know not everyone) just use the 3 drinks when they can drink more in the lounges if they chose to. Some people will only have a drink or two while others will drink more. For me there are days I don't feel like drinking at all and then some days I could drink more than 3 drinks. I have read on here some say they like the lounges because they can talk to like minded cruisers (tier status maybe?). Also when there is an empty connecting lounge why don't they always open it up for the overflow? Sometimes they do and other times they don't. It makes no sense except they want people to leave the lounge. I still think Royal is using the overcrowding as an excuse to reduce benefits again.

It is a cruisers fault for complaining about program changes instead of seeing the obvious reality.

We see the obvious reality. We complain because we know Royal just wants to eliminate more perks instead of coming up with a solution that wouldn't. The more they eliminate the more other lines look better.

Sure they are greedy, but they want even more so his comment isn't silly. They have high profit margins because of their loyal C & A members which they will be losing because of them changing aka reducing benefits.

As for people not "dealing" with it, why should they just go along with it? They stayed loyal because they were promised benefits for being loyal and all Royal does is reduce them. Good way to lose people.

What I was told in the D Lounge is that they want to avoid overflow as it is so hard to control. I have seen it when it was used and a "special event" sign was put up in the area. But, folks just walked over and joined in and there was no checking to see if they were eligible to be there or not.

Loyalty......

On Harmony now, only 474 loyal Diamond and Pinnacle members out of 6,000+. Where are you? Shopping brisk onboard, most excursions full, huge crowd at Park West, lots of drink packages, lots of photographs, most all the Speciality Dinning booked, casino packed last two nights.

Just who do you think Royals market? A few Diamonds and P?

Another one for 5 drinks. Lol

You live in another world if you think Royal is going to put 5 drinks on your SeaPass. That is not going to help eliminate crowding in the Lounges. The only way to do that is limit it to 3 drinks period or eliminate the free drinks altogether.

And what was their profit margin? Highest profit ever means nothing without context. They were losing money in some quarters not very long ago.

This thread is not about drinks or lounges is it?[emoji782]

Don't we have 50000 posts about that crap already.....[emoji57]

Please lets keep this thread about C+A INTERNET coupons!:halo:

Sounds like no change at present for Internet. You were the one that said to cut everyone else off and Grandfather you in for your perks.
