change of internet benefit for diamond and diamond plus

Recommended Posts

just curious. is Luara Baska still the Diamond Concierge on Anthem? When we did a b2b in Dec. we had some stupid communication problems with one of the officers at shore ex. and Luara handled it beautifully. She is a very competent person and was a pleasure to do buisness with. sailing on May 31. hope she is still there. Thank you, Watson 50

Luara BAKSA is currently the Loyalty Ambassador on the Grandeur of the Seas.

. To be honest we have been sailing on their competitive lines for a change of paste and now I'll glad we booked ahead on Celebrity, NCL, and even (yes) Carnival. their competition is right up there with them including a couple (Celebrity/Princess) surpassing them.

So Celebrity and Princess have better paste than RCI? Never knew this was an issue. You D and D+ people know all about everything.

They were referring to the 3 drink coupons that you are now able to use in the MDR and specialty restaurants. The times that you are able to use these have not changed.

On Allure the Happy Hour matched the D Lounge from 4:30-8pm.

You can get the three drinks that are on your sea pass in the MDR during the happy hour hours. On other ships, you have to get the drinks elsewhere and carry them to the MDR. If arriving close to the cut off time, you can order all three drinks at once.

Thank you!! This makes me happy!

Was that through 8 PM or did it go through or into Second Seating dinner?

The time for the three drinks depends upon the time of early and late traditional dining. As I remember, there will be info in your cabin when you board including the times for that sailing.

If I'm not remembering correctly, would one of the experienced cruisers we count on please correct me.

The free drinks are usually available one hour before early seating up till the start of late seating.

We just got off the Freedom Sunday. We had problems with the Diamond + bene to start off. There was not the normal coupon when you went on line to select free day. Had to purchase 1 day go to Internet specialist on deck six, behind Julia's Desk, ( Loyalty ambassador). Had to do this for the second day also, then coupon appeared on the login site as normal for my next two days. After talking with Julia, Gisleni Castro( suite con.) and Junior Allen( new diamond con.) kind of got the news that a discount package deal may be in the future. 40% Diamond +, 20% Diamond which in my opinion sucks. Yingjin Yu still on contract break. Bob & Nancy

We got on the Rhapsody on 3/25, and off on 4/1. The internet D+ discount was worth $45, or a 2 day discount for a single device. We signed one of us up on Day 2 for 48 hours free, and switched on and off with each other for the single device. We had a gap of internet on Days 4 and 5, and used the free internet in a few bars in ports. Then, we signed the second D+ up in the afternoon of Day 5, which gave us continuous internet until the end of the cruise. We even had it out on the dock after we got off the ship.

It worked well for us.

We did the same thing. It cost us $1.99 for days 5 thru 7

As D+ did it list $45.98 towards a package.

We just disembarked Anthem two days ago and that was what each of us had as an internet credit for being D+ and was listed as such in our D+ benefits letter.

We used DW's credit for the two days 24 hours periods, mid-day 2 to mid-day 3 and evening of day 4 to evening of day 5 and mine for stream and surf for the last two days as we were on only a 7 night cruise.

On day 1 we had internet at our pre-cruise hotel before embarking.

The 24 hours continuous period actually gave us 25 hours of internet each time and because day 4 was at Coco Cay we started that 24 hour period in the evening. Then the next morning following the last period I used my credit for 2 days of Stream and Surf internet at no cost.

After much discussion here regarding the Diamond/Diamond + internet coupon, I left for my most recent cruise reasonably assured the free day internet coupon was still in play. This was based on the social media responses from several sources (discussed on the boards ad naseum). Lo and behold upon boarding the Enchantment the free day coupon was not listed on the in room sheet and the concierge confirmed it had been removed and replaced with a 20% off package coupon.

For me, this is a definite loss of value. Free internet (not discounted, not requiring purchase) is extremely helpful to our family during a cruise and was one of the benefits that caused us to sail primarily with Royal. Having to pay for a full package makes no sense for many cruisers and renders the coupon "benefit" useless for those that aren't looking to buy more. With the lessening of value of other loyalty benefits (balcony discount price more expensive than regular "sale" price, BOGO offers and package discounts in cruise planner better deals than the loyalty coupons) there is little value in having gained the higher loyalty tiers.

More annoyingly is that we are getting one message from corporate and something completely different in the actual experience. I am so frustrated with the disparity between what is marketed to cruisers pre-trip and the actual product delivered.

I realize that they can change the program at any time, just as we can change our loyalty at any time - but at least be honest and direct instead of trying to slip one by us and see if we notice. It's one thing to not value your longtime clients, it's another to assume we are idiots or won't notice the changes.

Rant over

Well that was not good to read. All I really have to get done is my airline checkin and mobile passport. I will not be happy about having to pay to get those done.

Agree that is a bummer. The only time I use the internet is to print off airline boarding passes. I guess I'll have to purchase the 10 minute package like I use to do before we were diamond. I like Celebrity where we both got 90 minutes of internet as elite.

I always get the boarding pass at the airport. After all I have to check in my bag so not having the printed pass is no big deal. It is check in that I would like to have before I get to the airport. When I have not had internet the Diamond Concierge always did it for me on her computer.

I just like to have the boarding pass already printed. I never thought of asking the Diamond Concierge. Good tip. Thanks.

Mobile passport only allows your info to be uploaded within three hours of going through immigration. It is unlikely that there would be a concierge in the lounge on debarkation morning.

Mobile passport requires no printing. Your QR receipt is on your phone.

When we were sailing out of Dubai on Vision i asked the Diamond Concierge to print off our flight boarding passes which he duly obliged.

I gave him $10 and a grateful thank you.

The LA won't print them off for you though.

I was not talking about printing. You still need an internet connection to upload your information right? That is the only way to get the receipt.

Thank you. I had a brain fart and didn't even think of the DC.
