ggprincess2004 Posted April 11, 2018 #2 Share Posted April 11, 2018 Yes, the anytime dining room, midship, Deck 6, from noon until 1:30. Enjoy. We love the embarkation lunch menu.
voljeep Posted April 11, 2018 #3 Share Posted April 11, 2018 nothing wrong with the menu , but, who needs to spend 1 1/2 hours in the mdr when you can be out exploring the ship and people watching???

It's one of the things I love about Princess. I sailed Royal Caribbean and was disappointed they did not offer this. And lunch doesn't take 1.5 hours. seacruise9 Posted April 11, 2018 #5 Share Posted April 11, 2018 Hi, I also enjoy having lunch in the MDR on embarkation day. On the first day, the buffet always seems to be very crowded and chaotic. Lunch in the MDR is a nice option. Chuck

skynight Posted April 11, 2018 #7 Share Posted April 11, 2018 Does the Caribbean Princess serve lunch in the main dining room on embarkation day? Thanks. Yes, when we were on board in January. You can also eat at the International Cafe, Salty Dog or Slices by the Lido Pool, or the new World Fresh Market Place buffet. The Caribbean has a very nice re-built buffet area with improved seating in the buffet area and in Planks and Steamers. I don't remember but the Planks and Steamers buffet line may also be open for lunch on boarding day.
Thrak Posted April 11, 2018 #8 Share Posted April 11, 2018 nothing wrong with the menu , but, who needs to spend 1 1/2 hours in the mdr when you can be out exploring the ship and people watching??? I have to wonder how much exploring needs to be done. We know where things are located - except for the Royal class which we have yet to sail. We rarely make it onboard in time to have MDR lunch on embarkation day so, when we are able to do so, we enjoy the lunch.

Having everything put away after lunch means no rushing to unpack before sail away & dinner.
msmoger Posted April 11, 2018 #10 Share Posted April 11, 2018 Always have embarkation lunch in the MDR (love the salmon). It's relaxed, delicious and very civilized. Also, it definitely doesn't take an hour and a half unless you want it to.
Rare villauk Posted April 11, 2018 #11 Share Posted April 11, 2018 Is it available on all ships e.g. Grand?
msmoger Posted April 11, 2018 #12 Share Posted April 11, 2018 Is it available on all ships e.g. Grand? It's been available on every ship I've sailed. Usually from 12:00 to 1:30. The Patter (back page) will specify which dinning room is being used.
socialworker Posted April 11, 2018 #13 Share Posted April 11, 2018 The embarkation lunch in the MDR is my favorite meal because it has great food and it's peaceful. It's just what I need after fighting the crowds getting onboard.

Agreed. We also like to see how the buffet is set up.
Rare geoherb Posted April 12, 2018 #16 Share Posted April 12, 2018 On the Regal in February, the dining room opened for lunch on embarkation day at 11:30. We were on the ship around 11:20 and just waiting around our cabin to go to lunch when I discovered the dining room was already open by reading the Patter.
