Delicate question

We are traveling on the Summit in November with a group. One member has had significant back surgery and uses a bidet at home. Has anyone had success with installing a removable bidet on a cruise ship toilet?

Suggestions are welcome.

Contact accessibility at Celebrity and explain exactly what your group member’s difficulties/needs are. Much better than anecdotal replies from CC.

Much as we love CC when a medical condition is involved ask the specialists. Much better to sort out any issues/concerns now than when on board....

I've done that. I'm researching all my options.

Agree, you will have to contact Celebrity. We are installing a bidet at home but on the ship, there is no power outlet near the toilet and they are a funky size to fit the ship. I doubt you will be able to install anything but with a medical need, they will work with you on alternatives.

A little off topic, but still funny. Over 40 years back we were on one of those high school over seas trip(Italy) Me & a few class mates were unpacking & relaxing. One excused himself to the bathroom. A few minutes later he came out & said this has to be the coolest bathroom I've ever seen. It even has a drinking fountain! I walked in to look. I'd seen Bidets before. I asked Rex(his real name!)did he actually drink out of the fountain. Yeah, he did. After explaining what the "fountain" was & after the laughing died down, Rex was rather quiet for a few hours afterwards.

It seems that there is always someone on CC who will make fun of people with disabilities; SAD.

I hope the OP finds the help they’re looking for....

Please point out the offending poster who was making fun of anyone with a disability.

With a portable sitz bath (I am also an RN) you don't need any electricity etc. It's gravity and you fill the IV bag looking container w/ warm water. It's relatively flat so would easily be packable.

IE:

As a healthcare worker, I'm guessing that the back surgery will prevent any "wiping" situations. So sitz baths, and peri bottles would still need a cleaning assistance situation. Even a portable bidet, while having a better cleaning effect, still requires drying effort.

Sorry, Cheryl... I don't see where anyone is making fun of a person with a disability. Was that post deleted or are you just being a busy body?

If it is a problem with being unable to reach for cleaning, there are long handled tongs that can be purchased online from a medical supply store. Those coupled with “wet wipes” may provide the adaptation that is needed. I imagine, though, the wet wipes could not be flushed so must be bagged for proper disposal. I am a retired occupational therapist and have had to problem solve for many patients in the past.

I clicked the link for the sitz bath, and Amazon also suggested this product, a "travel bidet", which I thought looked helpful:

Hope your friend sorts this out so he can enjoy his cruise.

As multiple people have already pointed out, which post is making fun of people with disabilities? Unless it was deleted, I would say someone is reading a bit too much into the responses. If you're referring to the joke, it was not directed at people with disabilities, so totally confused as to what you are referring to.

Probably get criticized for this, but if wiping is an issue, for all things holy, stay out of the pools and hot tubs.

Uncalled for. Cleanliness in the hot tub or pool won't be an issue. The OP is simply asking for additional/alternate solutions to ensure this.
