Royal Suite Upgrade Offer

Recommended Posts

I was on the Sept. 14th Solstice cruise. I booked through a TA . She was also going and in the cabin next door. I was offered the paid upgrade but she was not. Crazy as she is close to Zenith. I did not think it was worth it. The move up was from Aqua class to sky suite.

I see a prior comment stating only people who book directly with Celebrity are selected for the move up offers. Can anyone dispute this? I always book with a TA and this would be a minor consideration if true.

We were booked through a TA for a cruise we took a few weeks ago and received the MoveUp email about 4 weeks before departure date. We were booked in Royal, bid on Penthouse, didn’t get it but appeared the 1 remaining Penthouse was finally booked by someone shortly after we received the email

From the website:

"** Reduced rate upgrades, pre-cruise and onboard, will earn Club Points at the original stateroom category purchased, and NOT the category of the upgraded stateroom"

When did this change? We paid $25/pp once to upgrade to a suite from AQ. We received the points for suite class. Boy would I love to get that deal again!

We are on Silhouette in a month and we have already gotten the move-up offer. We booked through a TA.

Did the email come through your TA, or from Celebrity. We have NEVER received a promotional email for Celebrity Cruises. Not sure why. We have received confirmation for excursions, etc. that we have booked online.

These are the terms of the new move up program. I got the offer too:

Celebrity Move UP℠ – Upgrade Program T&Cs

The Celebrity Move UP℠ upgrade program provides booked guests with an opportunity to submit an offer (an “Offer”) to Celebrity to upgrade from the original Celebrity Cruises stateroom category purchased to a higher stateroom category (the “Program”). The Program applies to cruises, sail dates, and stateroom categories selected by Celebrity in its sole and absolute discretion. Not all cruises, stateroom categories, or bookings will be selected for participation, regardless of availability.

Eligibility

Only a stateroom that has been purchased by either the guest or someone authorized to make an Offer on guest’s behalf is eligible for the Program (the “Guest”). If Celebrity selects a booking to participate in the Program, Celebrity will email an invitation to that booking to submit an Offer. Celebrity makes no representation to any person that an invitation to participate will be issued, an offer or upgrade will be reviewed, accepted, made available or processed, regardless of stateroom availability.

Valid Guest Email Required

A valid email address must be associated with the booking. Celebrity will send an invitation to the most recently updated email address that is associated with the booking. An email address may have been provided to Celebrity at the time of booking or by any guest on the booking who uses the online “My Cruises” pre-cruise planner tool. Only the Guest named in the email invitation or someone over the age of 18 who is authorized to make an Offer on Guest’s behalf is eligible to submit an Offer. By submitting an Offer, Guest represents to Celebrity that he or she has the authority to act on behalf of and to bind the person or persons named or included on the Offer to these Terms and Conditions and those persons named in the booking.

Submitting an Offer

Only one Offer may be submitted per eligible stateroom category. Guest may submit Offers for more than one stateroom category. Offers may be modified in accordance with the terms below.

The amount of the Offer consists of the total per person amount that the Guest is willing to pay for the opportunity to upgrade from the original booked stateroom category to a higher stateroom category (the “Offer Amount”) and is separate and in addition to the amount paid for the original booking. The Offer Amount applies to only the first and second guests in the booking (in other words, the Offer Amount will not be charged to third and higher guests if the Offer is accepted). For single occupancy guest bookings, the Guest will be charged the double occupancy Offer Amount

By upgrading to a higher stateroom category, each guest in the booking may be subject to a higher gratuity amount. The Offer Amount does not include the higher gratuity. If the Offer is accepted, the difference between the original and upgraded stateroom gratuities (if applicable) will be automatically applied to all guests (the “Additional Charges”).

Prior to submitting your Offer, the Offer Amount and any Additional Charges will be displayed (the “Total Amount”). If Celebrity accepts an Offer, the Guest who submitted the Offer will be obligated to pay the Total Amount.

During the Offer submission, Guest must provide credit or debit card information (the “Credit Card”). If the Offer is accepted by Celebrity, the Total Amount will be charged to the Credit Card.

Acceptance and Rejection of an Offer

Celebrity reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to determine if an Offer is accepted or not, regardless of stateroom availability.

Celebrity may review and make a decision about an Offer at any time after the Offer is submitted, up to 48 hours before the cruise departure date.

If Celebrity accepts the Offer, Guest will receive an email confirming the acceptance of the Offer and the details of the upgraded stateroom booking (the “Upgrade”). Celebrity will assign the location of the stateroom in its discretion. The Upgrade will have the same number of berths as the original stateroom.

Immediately upon Celebrity’s acceptance of an Offer, the Total Amount will be charged to the Credit Card and becomes final and non-refundable. Refunds, credits, or changes may be issued only in the following circumstances: 1) Celebrity cancels the cruise, or 2) Celebrity cancels the cruise and re-books the guests onto another cruise in a stateroom class that is lower than the upgraded stateroom class. Any refund or credit will be limited to the Upgrade charge and credited back to the Credit Card in the same currency of the original charge; no other charges or fees of any type or nature will be refunded or credited.

If Celebrity does not accept the Offer, the original booking will continue and persons associated with the booking will travel in the original stateroom category. Celebrity will not offer and guests will not receive any compensation, consideration, or other benefit as a result of the Offer not being accepted.

Modifying or Cancelling the Offer

Guest may modify or cancel an Offer up to 72-hours prior to the cruise departure date, but only if the Offer has not been accepted by Celebrity and if the Credit Card has not been charged (the “Offer Period”). If Guest modifies or cancels the Offer during the Offer Period, the original Offer will be voided, and if applicable, replaced with Guest’s modified Offer. Voided or cancelled Offers will not be reviewed.

Modifying or Cancelling the Offer or Booking by Guest After Celebrity Accepts the Offer

If Celebrity has accepted the Offer, the Offer cannot be modified or cancelled, and Guest must pay the Total Amount regardless of whether Guest subsequently modifies or cancels the booking.

If Celebrity has accepted the Offer and Guest modifies or cancels the booking, the Upgrade and the Offer will be cancelled. Celebrity will have no obligation to invite the Guest to submit a new Offer on the modified or new booking or to apply the Upgrade to the modified or new booking or to issue a refund or credit of any kind.

Modifying the Booking by Celebrity

If Celebrity for whatever reason re-books the Guest or any person associated with the booking to another cruise departing on a date that is different from the original booking date, Celebrity, in its sole discretion, may transfer any Offer made in relation to the original booking to the new booking, subject to availability of the upgraded stateroom category.

General Terms

By submitting an Offer, Guest agrees to the terms and conditions of this Program.

Offer to participate in the Program is non-transferable and applies only to the Guest and booking identified in the email invitation.

Any promotions associated with the original booking will remain in effect. The Upgrade will not be eligible to receive any promotions or benefits that are applicable to the stateroom had it been originally booked at that stateroom category.

Each offer is considered on an individual Offer basis, meaning that Celebrity may not invite or accept Offers of staterooms traveling together. If bookings that are traveling together are upgraded, Celebrity does not guarantee that the upgraded staterooms will be close together.

The terms and conditions of your original cruise booking will remain in effect following the acceptance of an Offer or if an Offer is not accepted. This includes terms and conditions pertaining to cancellation, penalties, changes, the Captain’s Club program. Accepted offers will earn Captain’s Club points at the original stateroom category purchased, and not the category of the upgraded stateroom. Upgrade does not include any additional promotions. If you purchase an Upgrade Celebrity Cruises cannot guarantee a specific cabin number assignment within the upgraded category. Your cabin number will depend on space availability.

Celebrity reserves the right to modify and change these Terms and Conditions in its sole discretion at any time without notice. These Terms and Conditions apply in conjunction with Celebrity’s cruise ticket contract, website terms of use, privacy policy, all of which are incorporated into and form a part of these Terms and Conditions. Celebrity reserves the right to cancel the Offer at any time, correct any errors, inaccuracies or omissions, and change or update fares, fees and surcharges at any time without prior notice. ©2018 Celebrity Cruises. Thank you for posting. I see you only have 7 post on CC. Are you new to Celebrity cruising, as well? Wondering if this offer is for new/newer clients. We are getting ready to take our 19th and 20th cruise on Celebrity and have never had an offer.

Helpful information. We book through a large TA.

If I am not mistaken, I think you have sailed a few or more times with Celebrity. Correct?

I’ve been sailing with Celebrity for awhile now. Just don’t like the negativity on cruise critic so I typically stay away. We’ve been on every ship, sailed every category except the Penthouse and a few of those big suites on reflection. We don’t like those extra people on reflection 😂 Celebrity has been fantastic to us. I just posted the fine print to clear up confusion about Club points. It’s clearly a new program & nothing to do with casino upgrades or the way it was done last year. I really don’t think imo it has anything to do with CC status either. They are just mass emailing everyone the offers based on availability & whoever comes back with the highest bid gets it. Lee’s program with the status upgrades has been gone for awhile when she left. Happy sailing 🚢 Hope the fine print clears up any confusion 😉🌴

Thanks all!

I am going to check and make sure my email is even registered with Celebrity.

The only cruiseline that we have received an email upgrade offer was with Oceania.

Now, a few years ago, we had a call from Celebrity to upgrade to a Royal Suite. I declined because it was $1000 more to upgrade from our AQ and DH was not around to ask his opinion. To my surprise, he said we should have done it. So I called Celebrity back, but it was too late. :( Instead, I asked if we could pay to upgrade to a Sky Suite for $500. They accepted the offer. This was for a 14 night New England/Canada cruise during peak season. The going rate for the SS was much higher.

Yes, we have cruised with Celebrity many times. As other have said it is a new program and it is not an offer, just an opportunity to make a bid.

When was the last time you cruised with Celebrity and when is you next cruised scheduled? This program was not offered in January for our last cruise, but was for our cruise tomorrow.

Based on my one experience and from other posts, I am fairly confident that Celebrity asked for bids even if a cabin is not yet available.

If you do a search you will find a link on the Celebrity website which you can see if something is available to bud on for your cruise. I would not bother checking until 30 days before your scheduled departure.

Good luck.

Ditto. Received the offer directly from Celebrity via email 34 days out from cruise. Our booking is held with a TA.

We are in a Sky Suite and were offered to bid on Celebrity, Royal, or Penthouse - although those are currently sold out (via web site). Tempted! but since it is only a 7N cruise and we are happy with our cabin allocation. We’re staying put and did not pursue the offer.

We cruised in June I think last but the ship sailed full so we did not receive the offer. I’m not sure if we’ve been on since. Enjoy our summers on land. We’ll be on ships November December & January. 7 cruises. Received two move up offers for the beginning of November so far. Not really worth it to us. We’ll see what the others come up with. Good luck 😉🚢

Last cruise was in May. Next cruise December 9th. I don't expect a move-up offer for the Edge, though. Nor would we bid for a 7 night. We are interested in the workings of the Infinite veranda that we have booked in AQ.

The following Celebrity cruise will be on the Connie next May. That cruise is a 10 night in AQ, so we would be interested in a move-up to a SS.

I agree! It will be fun to see if we are even made an offer. ;)

For data points: we're sailing next month on the Silhouette, our 4th time on Celebrity. Booked directly with Celebrity. Got a move up bid email last week, from AQ through Royal Suite. We have a great C2, carefully chosen, and we're not interested in taking a gamble on what is essentially a guarantee cabin. Though a suite, it could still be in a location we would not be happy with (especially since the ship is virtually sold out). A bunch of folks on our Roll Call received the bid email as well, a bunch didn't. Go figure. ;p

Maybe Celebrity did not have the program fully implemented for May cruise, but “who really knows”

If you search for move up bid program on the Celebrity website, you will be able to put in your name and reservation number to see if there is a bid opportunity.

Based on my one experience your December cruise will be early November.

I do not normally do 7 day cruise, but I would personally not hesitate to submit a bid if the price and category were right.

Good luck

I was also on the Solstice Sept 14th cruise. I won a Move-Up bid from balcony to Aqua Class (and having access to Blu made it all worthwhile). I participated in our Cruise Critic Cabin Crawl while onboard and got to visit a Sky Suite. All I can say is that is that I would have been very happy having that Sky Suite. Great size room, wonderful semi wrap-a-round deck, a porthole window large enough to sit in and read (as the cruise critic member room host reported), and finally having a butler. (sigh)

Yes, I would have been very happy in that room.....

I like everything about the Sky Suites except for the Butler. That's something we can do without. :o

I'll try that trick a little closer to the cruises.

I can't remember the last time we booked a 7 night. We wanted to see the Edge and be a part of the Inaugural.
