People LOVE the AFFORDABILITY of new mega ships (MSC) ?

I am not 34 years old and it doesn’t take me a whole year of saving everywhere so I can to be able to afford to take me and my wonderful loving wife of 43 years on numerous cruise vacations – per year. We live on the East Coast and often have to fly to Miami to go on a cruise which increases our costs because airlines don’t fly us for free (well, actually, my wife does as my Companion), the air + cruise price +tax often ends up costing us around $3000 USD total for both of us, being we are in the US the conversion rate doesn’t hurt us. It’s so affordable, we go several times a year and keep increasing the number of cruises.

$3000 USD after income tax is about $5000 pre tax-worth of salary just to go on vacation, which to many hardworking people like myself over my life-time is a reasonable amount to spend on such a beautiful and enjoyable cruise on ships like the MSC Seaside. But wait, that is not all. We still have to decide for ourselves what we will do for extras ~

- casino spending - I don’t love gambling, (but have no problem with those that do) so, instead of spending $500 per cruise at the casino, we alternately make an additional $500 of anonymous tips to various crew members of all levels; feels great.

- tips – I would love to find a way to increase the tips or maximize them to reward them for their incredible work and dedication.

- onboard purchases - Are discretionary; i.e. optional, I like that.

- excursions - I just can’t believe the luxury some people can get from these great <$100 per person excursions. I can afford to go off in every port but I choose not to. I understand how people can be so joyous when the economy is so strong these days.

- entertainment - I am reading people are buying ice cream, bowling, zip lining for extra $$ and loving it. Everyone seemingly is truly having a blast?

- spas- this one is a real specialty here, I read people loving that the price of their spa was so reasonable.

Last but not least the people who actually are smart enough to purchase a SUITE, especially the YACHT CLUB, on a cruise which, compared to other lines, is an unbelievable value. Some of these YC Penthouses go from $1,500.

How are you alive and not thinking that is beautiful? Just amazes me that this stuff is actually happening in this a time that is rewarding the real people who truly worked so hard.

[emoji23][emoji23][emoji23] This is great. I’m 25 and my husband and I (going on 4 years) manage to easily budget a nice vacation every year without removing tips or being cheap. Have the Seaside booked for next April. Can’t wait!

I have never cruised on MSC but have done over 30 cruises on RCCL. Love the prices of Yacht Club and the black status match was a bo brainer to try MSC. For the price of a week in a crown loft with royal for one week I can cruise in Yacht Club for two weeks.

Room might be smaller but the amenities I am getting is making it worthwhile. We love the deck 17 cabins because of the quiet never crowded hallways and coastal kitchen dining for suite guests. So Yacht Club is pretty close to what we like on Royal.

I feel your pain in airfare. You are lucky you are not flying from across the pacific ocean. Airfare alone for our July cruise on seaside (for the 3 of us) is over $5k.

Haha! Bravo Formula280SS, what a brillant and creative retort to MarinerBoy's post.clear.png?emoji-tearsjoy-1678

Time that the mods got a grip and deleted both threads.

Hear, hear! It's becoming farcical at this stage. I thought trolling was against CC rules. Funny how some seem to be able to circumvent them.

To solve this, just have the moderators set up MarinerBoy's account so that he has to add a tip on to each of his posts.

Not his usual useless tips! Just a financial one. Anything over $.50 per post and he'd be gone for good!.

Well at least 'somebody got it. :'):o;p:rolleyes:

I got it.;) But then I saw that people were taking it seriously, so I thought maybe I didn't get it after all.

Thanks for the laugh.:*

I thought we all got it.

Well, not everybody gets everything. It was pure sarcasm; I knew some of you would get it. I am so glad we tried MSC last year, this year and booked for next year.

Hope to see some of you again.

I hope you had as much fun writing your post, as I had fun reading it :-)

I know, some people refuse to believe it: Also with a small budget there are offers from MSC (smart deals, last minute pricing) that make cruising affordable. No need to minimize tipping. Just don’t loose your money in the Casino - and nobody has to book excursions from MSC, individually organized excursions are available starting from $0 - you can walk off the ship for free in the ports, there is never a charge to get off in ports...

I'm Irish, so we call sarcasm trenchancy!

See you in March on Seaside!

For sure we'll be there. Wife will be 'shade hunting with pool attendant and I'll be sun seeking as close nearby as possible. We are still so motivated by the MSC YC experience and the relative 'value. Wow, what a good time.

I did have fun, because MSC Seaside was fun. We also enjoyed Divina. We've booked about as much as we have time open, and we do continue to cruise NCL (Escape and Bliss booked), just not the Haven any more. Very nice experience, just doesn't compare (for us) to the YC in venues or value. Very good food on NCL, Haven and otherwise all other, but the YC venues are simply magnificent.
