Kholland Posted June 12, 2018 #1 Share Posted June 12, 2018 We are currently filling out our online check-in and came to a page that says "select smart check-in time" and gives us 3 choices. We are diamond members and have never had this option... For anyone that has traveled out of Bayonne, NJ recently, is this check-in time enforced? For instance, will we be sitting there for 2 hours if we get there early but it isn't out time to check-in? Also, will there still be separate lines for diamond, pinnacle, suites, etc. for check-in? We are traveling with little kids, so I want to know what to expect. Thanks! :):)
Clarea Posted June 12, 2018 #2 Share Posted June 12, 2018 Check-in times have not been enforced by RC on cruises out of US ports.

Kholland Posted June 13, 2018 Author #4 Share Posted June 13, 2018 Check-in times have not been enforced by RC on cruises out of US ports. Thanks for the response. Seems silly to me to even offer it if it doesn't really serve an enforceable purpose..
Ourusualbeach Posted June 13, 2018 #5 Share Posted June 13, 2018 Many people abide by it thereby spreading out the passenger arrivals.
cruzeluver Posted June 13, 2018 #6 Share Posted June 13, 2018 It actually does serve a purpose. A lot of folks are going to assume the check -in times are enforced and arrive accordingly, thus spreading out the arrivals.

I have never seen that before on any check in on previous cruises either... I just chose the earliest time (1:00 pm) and am planning to be on there at about 10:30am anyway.. Yes there generally are separate lines for those categories....how old are the kids?.. Our first time cruising with kids was 4 years ago and my kids were 2 and 6 and the check in process wasn't that bad at all the kids did fine, so Im sure its much easier and faster now and the kids wont be getting restless

I've cruised with the 4 year old before and we've had to wait for a while before boarding, after we check in. It wasn't too bad, but my 15 month old is a very curious and into everything. I won't get him to sit still for long.

From the reviews I have read, it seems to be very seamless and efficient. What sailing are you on?
JonRegister Posted June 13, 2018 #10 Share Posted June 13, 2018 We just sailed out Saturday June 9th on Anthem. It was a quick and easy process. No one is held outside like some other lines have done. Sent from my iPhone using Forums
Rare mizLORInj Posted June 13, 2018 #11 Share Posted June 13, 2018 At Cape Liberty there are two places you can check in. You can check in with the people with i-Pad like devices as you enter the terminal--not done by C&A tier--first come, first served. Only once did we have a several-person deep line at these check-ins (before Security). Usually there are enough port employees checking people in so we've never done the check-in on the other side of security. If you want to bypass these check-in agents and go through Security first, there are check-in counters that are by status on that side. It is a very fast check-in at Cape Liberty--or that's been our experience maybe 6 times there.
Merion_Mom Posted June 13, 2018 #12 Share Posted June 13, 2018 Unless there is some specific glitch (computers down, USCG inspection, deep cleaning), boarding begins quite early at Cape Liberty - 10:45-11:00. I have been told at 10:44, "boarding will begin around 11:30" and then sixty seconds later, the boarding announcement is made.

lovescats5 Posted June 14, 2018 #14 Share Posted June 14, 2018 Interesting to hear about boarding the Anthem. We will be Star Class and hope to board as early as possible. I did not see anyone say there was a line for suite guests or do we just have to stand in line?

I did not see anyone say there was a line for suite guests or do we just have to stand in line? We just sailed on the Anthem last week, arriving back today. The check in process was very efficient. We went right to the suite line and were checked in immediately. We arrived about 11:30am. Love the ease of dropping luggage and parking our vehicle. We chose to carry our luggage off the ship which was wonderful as well. We were in our car and on the road by 8am. There was heavy traffic getting out of the area due to morning commute and an accident but nothing we didn't expect. This is the first cruise we have driven to the pier. Usually we have left out of Florida or Puerto Rico and had to worry about flights. This trip was easy from beginning to end! We will definitely consider this port again in the future! There is a suite security line, a suite check-counter (if you missed the ipad people), a suite waiting area and a suite boarding door. :)

I did not see anyone say there was a line for suite guests or do we just have to stand in line? We've been home from the Anthem for 2 full weeks now. :( Sailing Star Class was pretty much the greatest thing since sliced bread. I feel like we can't cruise again until we can swing a longer cruise in a Star Class suite again! You will go to the suite check in kiosk. We were given instructions where to meet a porter on arrival outside, but there wasn't anyone there when we got there (there had been some delay in getting disembarkation of the previous cruise). They brought a porter over to us who took our luggage from there. Your genie will come meet you and take you through security. If you are there early enough, you might need to wait in the suite area for a bit after that as we did (but I do think things were running late and we choose the earliest possible check in time). As soon as the ship was cleared for embarkation, we were escorted on by our genie. From there, he gave us a brief tour, ending at our room. Our luggage was already there. Also, you are given your SeaPass card then. Other guests apparently get them when they arrive at their rooms now.
Biker19 Posted June 15, 2018 #18 Share Posted June 15, 2018 Other guests apparently get them when they arrive at their rooms now. Yes, the commoners on some ships (including Anthem) have to get their Seapass card at their cabin.
