your favorite NCL memory

Recommended Posts

The evenings out on deck on our first cruise when we cruised around Hawaii and to Fanning Island. Especially when we left Fanning Island, the sea was like a mirror and the sky......

The helicopter ride we took over Maui and Molokai is also something we will always remember.

I know it wasn't everyone's cup of tea when they had this but the best memory I have was attending the Second City Improv Show on the Breakaway. Why it was memorable was that we dragged(literally and under threat) our 2 14 year olds to the first show only to find that they really enjoyed it. So much so that they begged us to go again, which we gladly did (2 more times).

wow,, we loved 2nd City in Vegas and again when it was in the main showroom on a couple NCL ships, but when we did it on the Breakaway about a year or so ago, it had to be the worst show I had ever seen. If it wasn't for our parents taught us manners we would have walked it. It was just plain stupid.

when I listed my favorite memories, I totally forgot the most impressive one: we sailed the Jewel on her first cruise. It was a 10 day crossing from Dover to NYC. sailing out of Dover was something I will never forget, spending so many days on a brand new ship and to top it off, we had just spent almost a week in London and Poland. Our daughter and hubby were living in Poland at the time. We finished the vacation with a day and 1/2 in NYC.

I thoroughly enjoyed people watching on my last NCL cruise. On embarkation day practically the entire ship was wasted and a man who was probably 350+ pounds with breasts larger than most of the women and wearing a gigantic Puerto Rian flag bathing suit was putting on a dance show that I certainly will never forget. It was by far the best entertainment on the ship.

People watching certainly is a fun past time, but I can do that almost anywhere, even in church every Sunday. For some reason I don't find that the most exciting entertainment anywhere, especially on a ship. Ships are known for really good entertainment. Maybe if I was to get wasted on a ship I might enjoy the people watching entertainment a little more. Don't get me wrong, I love to people watch and love to point out people to my husband or whomever I am sailing with.

Only had two cruises with NCL yet but there are so many great memories to them. One thing special was standing up at 3:30 a. M. And go to the deck to watch the sail in to geiranger Fjord until to geiranger. ffac57cce7f286714b29d7138b46c7a5.jpgdfcb7d40e6a4012e8e3d07d8f79c0bc0.jpg3246596c8c0c8c4ffdb409aa5eeaf808.jpg

Several years ago on the Pride of America with our best friends Tom and Kathy. We went to Jefferson’s Bistro the first night and they served it as a buffet- a buffet with unlimited prime rib, crab, and beautiful desserts.

On the same trip cruising past the Napali Coast. We have seen both sides of the Caribbean, the Western Med and Alaska but that was the most magnificent.

another memory that we loved was, sailing into the island that begins with a C in the ABC islands. I know this is weird but I can't spell the stupid name. I know Bonaire and Aruba, but not the C island. :')

Curacao :-)

In 1995, going over the McArthur Causeway In Miami, and seeing the Norway for the first time. Boarded about 1 hour later.

We are so sorry we never got to cruise on her. We had made reservations just before he accident, but unfortunately we were not set to cruise until the fall of that year. We had 3 cabins reserved.

May 15, 2011...Just got married 2 days prior. Our honeymoon cruise on the GEM to Bermuda. Our first cruise. A lot of over thinking and concern over if we would like a cruise, if we would get sick of being on a ship for 7 days, if we made the wrong decision for our honeymoon, if we should have gone to a warmer destination or an all-inclusive resort somewhere.

And then we boarded, and slowly after that the ship pulled away, and we watched the Statue of Liberty from our balcony and went under the bridge and eventually saw nothing but water in every direction, completely separated from the real world and just us on vacation.

7 years and 16 cruises later....still get that feeling every time we pass under the bridge, turn our phones on airplane mode, and officially disconnect from the real world.

Have seen a ton of islands and countries. But nothing quite tops that feeling for me. And it all started with our first cruise in 2011.

We sailed the Sky in an aft penthouse on a Mexican Riviera cruise in October of 2004. As the ship left port from Zihuatanejo we sailed through clouds of butterflies (they weren't monarchs, they were plain yellow). It was beautiful.

On the other hand, entering port in Acapulco was bizarre. The ship was escorted by several small military boats with large guns mounted on deck. The sailors did wave cheerily at us though. [emoji23]

My first cruise on Norwegian, on the Spirit in the Adriatic in May. My daughter (22) was so fun, making friends with the crew, "squatting" in photos with the photographers, walking in Croatia and hearing "Kat! Kat!" and asking her who is that and having her tell me their name, where they work and just generally being an all around great person to travel with!

My 4 day cruise to Cuba. The BEST. The ship? Nothing to write home about. But Havana and the people were amazing.

I have yet to be on a cruise that is less than 7 days that was truly meaningful except for our 5 day cruise on Celebrity years ago and what made it meaningful? Our granddaughter got married on it. Otherwise it was just a short vacation. We have thought about cruising to Cuba but our travel agent has discouraged us from doing so. No, she does not try and influence her clients but she does say, for what you get the experience is on the pricey side.

Each to their own. But I got 1 1/2 days in Havana. My private guides (I didn't do ANY ship tours), were amazing. I sent them each gifts once I got home. One of them we still email back & forth and he tells me of his wife, and kids and how his new business is going and what a freedom to work for himself is. THAT is priceless.
