bunnyette Posted August 8, 2018 #4 Share Posted August 8, 2018 That doesn't sound good! Hopefully these mechanical issues don't affect future cruises.

bunnyette Posted August 8, 2018 #7 Share Posted August 8, 2018 Sorry not allowed by CC to mention it. Do what others do and mention one word in the site name...it is done all the time here. Just don't provide a link
dailaway Posted August 8, 2018 #8 Share Posted August 8, 2018 Sorry not allowed by CC to mention it. I understand. We are sailing on summit in 2 weeks
CruisingChick Posted August 8, 2018 #9 Share Posted August 8, 2018 I understand. We are sailing on summit in 2 weeks I would have thought someone who is currently on Summit would have posted on the boards by now. The dock master Willy Freeman is the one who reported it. Maybe if you search his name you can find it.
dkjretired Posted August 8, 2018 #10 Share Posted August 8, 2018 Always a concern with the M class ships when you hear mechanical problems due to the multiple previous Pod problems.

LA_CA_GAL Posted August 8, 2018 #12 Share Posted August 8, 2018 Confusing. I was watching the Bermuda Cam, and noticed that Summit had not docked by 9:00 AM today. Bermuda is about 775 miles from NYC, so no reason they could not have arrived on schedule by cruising at half speed.

Bermuda is about 775 miles from NYC, so no reason they could not have arrived on schedule by cruising at half speed. The cruises to Bermuda used to only have one day at sea before getting there, now they take two. If they were late this sounds like deja vous with the pods. cruisingdelt Posted August 8, 2018 Author #14 Share Posted August 8, 2018 The first guess is always the pods from a propulsion perspective. It appears the ship approached Bermuda on schedule but then went way south of it's usual turn to the west (usually just about due east of the town cut). It then did a 180 towards a point east of the town cut. After that it followed the normal course past Fort St. Catherine, along the north shore of Bermuda and south into the dockyards. DW and I have a vested interest since we are booked on the Summit in a few weeks. Thanks for all the responses.
gerelmx Posted August 8, 2018 #15 Share Posted August 8, 2018 (edited) What a strange trajectory. The mechanical problem is also commented on the fb of the port's web cam. Sent from my iPhone using Forums Edited August 8, 2018 by gerelmx
dodger1964 Posted August 8, 2018 #16 Share Posted August 8, 2018 maybe the captain fell asleep and woke up and realized they went to far south!

deliver42 Posted August 8, 2018 #18 Share Posted August 8, 2018 It could be currents that forced the change. There is a storm out there that's no threat to land, but can wreck Havoc on the currents.

njaloha Posted August 9, 2018 #23 Share Posted August 9, 2018 On in two weeks. Hoping this is weather wind or current related. I know someone who is on board now. I sent her an email but doubt she'll check her emails. I'll be sure to ask Sunday when she gets home, but we'll probably know the answer by then. Sent from my iPhone using Forums Yesterday I posted on their roll call and asked. The person who responded stated after the delay they cruised into port normally. They were still trying to find out the problem. Maybe just a minor glitch??
