die_hard Posted September 15, 2018 #1 Share Posted September 15, 2018 Anyone know if the shops on board replace watch batteries? Especially the water resistance ones (Fossil/Invicta). Sent from my iPhone using Forums
cb at sea Posted September 15, 2018 #2 Share Posted September 15, 2018 Most of those watches must be returned to an authorized dealer to keep the warranty in place. Even our local jewelry stores won't replace them unless you are willing to forgo the warranty.
klfrodo Posted September 15, 2018 #3 Share Posted September 15, 2018 Maybe, if you have a receipt showing that you purchased it on the ship during that sailing. I tried to get my band adjusted. NoGo
SRF Posted September 15, 2018 #4 Share Posted September 15, 2018 I doubt the people can handle even doing a non-water proof watch.

NoGo If I bought a watch on a cruise and the battery died before the cruise ended, I'd return the watch!!!
alfaeric Posted September 15, 2018 #6 Share Posted September 15, 2018 We have asked, and they do not replace batteries. Neither a skill anyone has, nor the tools to do it. They just sell the batteries.

dswallow Posted September 16, 2018 #11 Share Posted September 16, 2018 I can't believe they're missing the opportunity to offer to replace a watch battery for more than the watch costs.

Redrobo Posted September 16, 2018 #14 Share Posted September 16, 2018 Rolex. No batteries. No sunlight. No winding. Only if you shake your wrist all the time, winding if you don't wear it for some time unless you have a winding box.
alfaeric Posted September 16, 2018 #15 Share Posted September 16, 2018 Perhaps when you are in a port ? Just noticed an error- I posted they just sell batteries- they don't. They just sell watches. Oops. And the store isn't open in port, so there's no real question if they would (or not) sell a battery in port- they don't even sell watches while in port. Magnetchief Posted September 17, 2018 #16 Share Posted September 17, 2018 Rolex. No batteries. No sunlight. No winding. Lol, just a $2500 service every 5 years. :)
Cigar King Posted September 17, 2018 #17 Share Posted September 17, 2018 I have a watch that needs batteries replaced. I get it done in St. Kitts at the Gold mine...no charge for the watch batteries and "free" drinks. ;-)

mafig Posted September 17, 2018 #19 Share Posted September 17, 2018 Lol, just a $2500 service every 5 years. :) I have a Rolex that I received in 1983 ….. guess it's almost "vintage." Aside from a repair in the 90's when I didn't lock it and jumped into a pool (repair was $450), I've never had it serviced. Runs great (for a Rolex, it looses about 5 minutes a month … always did). Not familiar with Smiths watches. When I googled them, I saw watches in the hundreds.... not 100,000. What am I missing?
