Leaviing ship between back to back

You will receive an in-transit card from the first cruise. This is your boarding pass for the 2nd cruise.

On turn around day, you can either leave the ship and return later in the day, or join the other in transit members around 10 am. You will need to walk off the ship, clear customs, and then right back onto the ship. The will have a special lunch for the B2B cruisers on TA day.

We love the quiet time between the two cruises, and spend our day on the ship, and then watch the new passengers board in the afternoon.

You have full access to the ship and your cabin. If moving cabins, you pack up only your stuff in the drawers, and the cabin crew moves all you hanging stuff and your suitcases.

PS... have a blast!

We just did a b2b and there was no special lunch for us. We did the same thing east/west Caribbean. We were told we had a small window of time where we could leave with our in-transit cards and be allowed to board right back on, if not we would then have to wait for normal boarding to start but would be allowed back on first before new cruisers. We opted to just do the off, thru customs and right back on board and enjoy and empty ship. But no where in the patter or the meeting that they have did they show or mention a special lunch.

We usual get off with our in transit card and walk to Joe’s Diner at harbor shops for a late breakfast brunch. Then pop into publix and the return to the ship. There is a separate In transit door so you don’t need to queue with all the newbies. Enjoy

We are on a 14 day Eastern/Western Caribbean combination cruise with a return to Ft. Lauderdale between the two. What is the procedure for leaving and then returning on board? Thanks.

A quick search found lots of threads on this question.

Here are a couple......

I think Valiamo thought the lunch in the DR was only for B2B people.

Simple

1. Fully read the instructions which will be in your cabin

2. To leave the ship, disembark anytime after the disembarkation process has begun up until the last call around 9:30 or so. Take your passports, cruise card* and intransit card with you. On exiting the ship you will have to go through immigration. Re-board anytime after general boarding has begun around 11:00/11:30am up until the all aboard time. Just show your intransit card and if there is a line you go right to the front.

*You may have a single cruise card for both voyages or you may be supplied with a second cruise card. Also, your cruise card may actually be a medallion or combo medallion/cruise card.

On my first back-to-back, we did not have to leave the ship at all, but stayed on board. I kept out of the way of the crew as the cleaned carpets and polished brass railings and waxed and polished wood. Most of the time, I was by the pool or at the buffet. It was wonderful -- peaceful, there were only about 20 of us b-t-b all told.

When the new passengers began to board, I resigned myself to another crowded day!

We've done B2Bs in many different locations, and each one has had a unique feature or two. In MOST US ports, you are required to get off and go thru Customs. You can then choose to reboard the ship immediately and enjoy some time with the entire place to yourself or enjoy some port time. You will receive an "in transit" pass in your cabin which you just wave at any terminal personnel and proceed to the head of the line to re-board if you remain in port till boarding of newbies has begun

The bottom line is that your options and instructions will be detailed in a letter in your cabin the day before the turnaround. Just follow that and you'll have all the policies for your particular cruise.

What was the timeframe?

Fully read the instructions that will be delivered to your cabin one or two days before. Follow them exactly. If you do not want to go ashore you will be instructed to report to a venue on the ship, usually the theater and usually around 9:30/10:00. Report on or before the time indicated. You must report, no exceptions. When everyone is present the entire group is guided through immigration and then back onto the ship. The process can take 30 minutes to an hour. It depends. No one can re-board if just one person is missing. Sometimes you physically exit the ship and sometimes immigration comes on board. The last few times we actually exited the ship.

By the way this procedure is only at U.S. ports, except Whittier.

We have done b2b cruises twice in Fort Lauderdale. Both times, we waited until after eating lunch in the dining room to go ashore. We walked to Total Wine to restock for the second cruise. There's no corkage fee for one bottle per adult.

My Last B2B in FLL we stayed on the ship. We had to gather (and be scanned) in the showroom and were required to wait in there until we were zero'd out, then were scanned back in as we left the showroom.

On our last b2b on royal, we stayed onboard rather than doing our normal wine run because it was raining and we were at pier 21 rather than 2.

They gathered us in princess theater, then walked us as a group off the ship and down the escalators to the area where you claim luggage when disembarking. Then back up the escalator an scanned back on board.

Can't wait to do it again on January 19, maybe see you onboard;)

We have done 3 b2b and each one was different...laundry was closed on all 3 cruises ... twice we had to go to evac drill and once they specifically told us not to go...just follow their written instructions that they deliver to your cabin...it’s B2B for dummies...;p
