allaboard2019 Posted November 10, 2018 #1 Share Posted November 10, 2018 I called RC, and they told me I had to email agency changes so they can return the reservation to me. Anyone else have this experience?
Rare LHT28 Posted November 10, 2018 #2 Share Posted November 10, 2018 well I doubt the TA will reply to you so call RC & ask for a supervisor explain the agency is no longer in business & ask if your payments are secure with RC
Rare MicCanberra Posted November 11, 2018 #3 Share Posted November 11, 2018 Good advice, hopefully RCI will have your money.
Kartgv Posted November 11, 2018 #4 Share Posted November 11, 2018 Sorry to hear this - it's no way to start a vacation! If it turns out, worst case, that your money was never forwarded to RCI, then check with your credit card company. When Aloha airlines suddenly quit business many years ago, our credit card company refunded our pre-paid fare, even though it had been paid many months earlier. jlp20 Posted November 11, 2018 #5 Share Posted November 11, 2018 as stated already, see if your reservation is on line with the cruise company. If so, have all the info about original T/A you have at hand. Contact any of the large T/A and tell them you want to transfer the booking to them. Let them deal with the cruise line. Krazy Kruizers Posted November 11, 2018 #6 Share Posted November 11, 2018 For a couple of years after 9/11, many travel agencies closed down. Some people got their money back and some didn't. Hopefully RCI has your money. You need to check with them as soon as possible. Do keep us informed on your situation. Hoping for the best for you. SRF Posted November 11, 2018 #7 Share Posted November 11, 2018 My TA does NOT charge me, they have RCI charge my card. So I know my money is at the cruise line. I would NOT deal with a TA that charged me to their account. Too much chance of issues.
iancal Posted November 11, 2018 #8 Share Posted November 11, 2018 ^+1. We always pay with a credit card. It provides some degree of recourse in the event of of a situation like this.

Rare MicCanberra Posted November 11, 2018 #11 Share Posted November 11, 2018 I suppose there isn't an ombudsman or similar to try and get your money back as a creditor.
Rare LHT28 Posted November 11, 2018 #12 Share Posted November 11, 2018 if they booked on RCCL all they need to do is have the TA taken off the file & make sure the booking is up to date as far as payments go The cruise is not cancelled so they are still good to go they may lost any perks the TA may have given them if not part of the cruiseline promotion RCCL can take over the booking

Anyone else have this experience? Lots of folks do, for various reasons. The email addy is Agencychanges@RCCL.com just explain that the TA is out of business and RCCL will take over the booking. You can access your booking the website just as if you booked it directly with them.
