rkacruiser Posted December 18, 2018 #26 Share Posted December 18, 2018 Chief, how did you learn about this cruise? I was not aware of it nor was my travel agency in the State of Washington whose owner once had very close connections to HAL? My agent is as puzzled as I am. She’s very good. Like Piano Bars of Yore! Would that be Anna McBryan ?

Right now we are listening to her in Ocean Bar pre late dining. She is so good. The mystery quartet appears to be in crew rest or didn’t board again? The Oosterdam which was aside Celebrity Edge gave Prisendam a huge whistle celebration as we set sail tonight.
aliaschief Posted December 19, 2018 Author #29 Share Posted December 19, 2018 A beautiful day at sea. Attended Mariners Reception and lunch. Surprised we were directed to a reserved table which was hosted by Maaja, Guest Relations Manager. When Prisendam becomes Amira we have heard from many that the new owners are going to lay down 100 million dollars in renovations! Seems high to us but we have heard that several times from those that should know. Supposedly Risen Phoenix or is the other way around does not have casinos so that will go and we have also heard aft pool may be replaced with added cabins. We were told you can Google Amira and see what is planned. Mystery quartet is still missing their keyboard player so maybe next week. Captain said weather is iffy tomorrow for Hal Moon Cay but we are still headed there and will evaluate in morning. Met a man who is writing a book on Prisendam that should be published next year. Going to be a coffee table type book and all pictures will be black and white. Asked if the last cruise was going to have memorabilia auctions or tokens and the reply was probably not as new owners wanted it all for historical purposes. Enjoying our next to last day ever on the MS Prisendam.

Thanks for asking, Chief. Makes sense that the new owners want it, but too bad as that is one thing that is kind of neat about the last cruise. gwilli Posted December 22, 2018 #33 Share Posted December 22, 2018 Thanks for your posts. Can't wait until April when I get to experience the Prinsendam. Just wondering about the main dining room menus. Are they the same as the other delicious HAL menus or are they able to offer different choices? (With less people....). How is their wine selection? Cheers!

Cheers! Menu was pretty consistent as to MDR throughout the Fleet. Service was outstanding and food was well plated and most importantly tasted good to us. We had some wonderful wines while on-board. We brought on 4 bottles and paid corkage fee but really enjoyed some great wines with Celler Master recommendations.
