If you are considering Celebrity call the Captains Club(1-800-760-0645) and give them your C&A numbers. That way you will be Elite on your first Celebrity cruise. George C Posted December 24, 2018 #5 Share Posted December 24, 2018 (edited) We think entertainment is great on rccl, ice show , plays etc etc, celebrity is just ok. i think mdr is the same, buffet way better on celebrity. Less children on celebrity which we like. Do love celebrity suite perks but suites are overpriced. Big plus for celebrity it is non smoking in casino and all of inside and most of outside. Try it we like changes. Edited December 24, 2018 by George C

Fewer children as well. Very good specialty restaurants. Much fewer annoying announcements. Downers: Older cruisers. Dead nightlife and mediocre entertainment. Show have declined. I would take the entertainment and livelier atmosphere on Royal.
Madzulu Posted December 25, 2018 #8 Share Posted December 25, 2018 We have done one Celebrity cruise a few years back and missed the vibe of RCI - our favorite is Radiance class. Over the years we have noticed a distinct decline in the night time entertainment and general wow factor on the smaller ships - Voyager and Freedom class did not inspire us but we loved Anthem of the Seas. Put off by the size of Oasis so have not tried it. We are going back to Celebrity for our next cruise as over time our cruise tastes have matured - the body no longer does all nighters without serious repercussions the next day despite the mind believing it still can. In our experience the lines are more similar than different. Loved the layout of Equinox our only Celebrity cruise to date - it has a lot of echos of Radiance class. The pluses for us which informed our next cruise decision and led to booking Reflection for our next cruise Feel of less people and crowding - fellow passengers seemed to be more relaxed Superior service - not that we have had any bad service on RCI it was just a notch up on Celebrity. Better Main Dining Room experience overall - we are not foodies but do 1 or 2 nights in specialty restaurants on RCI - we did not feel a need to do this on celebrity More relaxing and laid back atmosphere Celebrity offer wider choice for 10 night plus cruises to the Caribbean Wife loved Casino on both lines - again more similar than different. I'm not a fan of Casinos so indifferent on this aspect. Entertainment is there in the bars and lounges - but you do need to seek it out unlike RCI where it is all around you. I will miss the Diamond lounge for coffee breaks and early morning chill out. Hope this helps
maggieq Posted December 25, 2018 #9 Share Posted December 25, 2018 We have been on four celebrity cruises. The equinox in June of this year was our favorite celebrity cruise. We are all about the best deal then itin between the two now. We have seen many of the entertainers on Rccl so while celebrity isn’t the greatest for shows, it’s different. We found the main dining room food and service to be way better than Rccl. We also got the premium drink package, free WiFi, prepaid gratuities and $300 obc. When we priced similar cruises with Rccl and added just the drink package (even with our d+ Discount), celebrity won out. We don’t expect all of those add ons included all the time nor will celebrity offer. We have also been very loyal to Rccl but d+ doesn’t seem to matter as much as it used to. We buy the drink package now with Rccl.
leaveitallbehind Posted December 25, 2018 #10 Share Posted December 25, 2018 (edited) I won't try to sell you, but we are long time RCI loyalist who tried Celebrity a few years ago and now cruise primarily with them. If interested, here is a review I wrote with our opinion in comparing the two after our fist cruise with Celebrity: Edited December 25, 2018 by leaveitallbehind

GO......… You will be Elite on Celebrity (contact Captain's Club)and for us the perks we like best are the 90 minutes of internet, the laundry and pressing services (for each passenger) are the most appreciated. For us 3 hours of internet is plenty. We have earned Elite status on Celebrity and have also earned Diamond status on RC with about 22 cruises between the two. Celebrity is a little more laid back, no water slides and such, plenty of quiet places, shows OK, entertainers similar. Food??? A touch better on Celebrity Service?? A touch better on Celebrity The above does not include cruises on the new EDGE as we have never sailed on her, and actually do not think we would like the experience. Rare lv2cruisgrl Posted December 25, 2018 #14 Share Posted December 25, 2018 (edited) We have done both. Celebrity shows are not as good as Royal. Food and service is a little better on Celebrity. Royal has more things to do on the ship. If you want to chill, read, and have a more adult like ship, quieter atmosphere then try Celebrity. If you like all the activities Royal has you might be bored on Celebrity. We still cruise either one depending on what we want out of the cruise. The reciprocity between the two loyalty programs begins with RCI Platinum and Celebrity Select. And just FYI the highest tiers shared is RCI Diamond / Diamond Plus / Pinnacle are Elite on Celebrity, and Elite/ Elite Plus / Zenith are Diamond on RCI. And all points earned per cruise remain with the cruise line on which you sailed and are not shared. Also he posted on a RCI forum saying they just made Diamond. I just read your review you posted on this thread from your 2016 Celebrity cruise. Like always nicely done. TeeRick Posted December 28, 2018 #20 Share Posted December 28, 2018 We are Diamond+ on Royal and have mostly switched now to Celebrity. But we still enjoy Royal occasionally. They are different experiences but we like both. Only you can decide. Nobody can sell you. So just try Celebrity and see what you think. It is the only way. elf426 Posted December 31, 2018 #21 Share Posted December 31, 2018 My "loyal to Royal" bf and I took the plunge onto a Celebrity ship last year and our biggest perk was the non-smoking casino. I personally was a huge fan of Café al Baccio over Café Promenade as well.
Seville2Cabo Posted December 31, 2018 #22 Share Posted December 31, 2018 We've been loyal to Royal and have a Med cruise booked on Vision in May, but looking for better itineraries so we are switching to Celebrity for 2 cruises in 2020. South American and Panama Canal. Neither of which were really available on RC. We will move over as Elite, so should get some benefits.
