e71465 Posted February 13, 2019 #1 Share Posted February 13, 2019 Hello all, We're sailing on the Emerald Princes to Alaska in September. Will the pools be heated? Please advise... Thanks!
Rare Coral Posted February 13, 2019 #2 Share Posted February 13, 2019 The outdoor pools are usually cold (and the Emerald only has outdoor pools).
e71465 Posted February 13, 2019 Author #3 Share Posted February 13, 2019 Thank you, that's too bad... I was hoping for a heated pool.
Rare Coral Posted February 13, 2019 #4 Share Posted February 13, 2019 They maybe able to - they just don't seem to. Hopefully you will have warm outside temps!
Rare Tapi Posted February 13, 2019 #5 Share Posted February 13, 2019 Don’t know about the Emerald, but on the Golden, the Lotus Pool (outdoor adult pool located by the spa) was heated. Seems like not a lot of people were aware because it was always uncrowded.
e71465 Posted February 13, 2019 Author #6 Share Posted February 13, 2019 September 13th, it shouldn't be too cool.
Grburkart Posted February 13, 2019 #7 Share Posted February 13, 2019 Hmmm. You scared me for a second! I’ll be on the Emerald in October leaving Barcelona. I checked it’s itinerary and it’s in the Adriatic and Aegean come September. Wrong ship? Or wrong year? Glenn

Kate P.C Posted February 13, 2019 #10 Share Posted February 13, 2019 I'm not sure about the main pools and the Terrace pool but the Lotus pool is heated on all ships. You may find the pools too cold for the first few days out from Florida, but they get warm about the 3rd or 4th day.

Long way to Alaska from Florida though. 😄😁

e71465 Posted February 15, 2019 Author #13 Share Posted February 15, 2019 Ha, we're sailing in 2020 to Alaska. I asked Princess and the person I spoke to didn't know if the pools are heated.
RMMariner Posted February 15, 2019 #14 Share Posted February 15, 2019 (edited) We were on the Golden to Alaska on a B2B last year. The outdoor pool was cold. The indoor pool was sometimes heated up, and the pool by the gym was always heated. The hot tubs were usually at best lukewarm. Colo Cruiser Posted February 15, 2019 #15 Share Posted February 15, 2019 Over the years we have always been told that the pools on Princess are not heated. When we have gone in the pools they have never felt like they were heated.
westcoaster Posted February 15, 2019 #16 Share Posted February 15, 2019 I was on the Island Princess last year in Alaska, and both pools were heated, although the temperature varied a bit from day to day. Some days, the outdoor pool was warmer than the indoor pool - and much less crowded.
Yukonjake Posted February 15, 2019 #17 Share Posted February 15, 2019 Emerald's pool was heated in July of last year (2018).
satxdiver Posted February 16, 2019 #18 Share Posted February 16, 2019 I also have been told that Princess does not heat their main pools but then I seldom use them since I have one in the backyard. On the grand class ships the glass cover will heat the pool if it is closed but the newer ships do not have the cover.

But isn't it rather a long trek from your shipboard cabin to your backyard pool when you want a swim on a hot day at sea?

I simply step into my personal transporter and Scotty beams me to the pool and back after I am finished. It is all very easy. 😂

Not if you take the new “A” train when those darn fuel guzzling jets are abolished.

Also not to worry as they'll eliminate all the pools during the nationwide retrofitting of every building in America Srpilo
